I'm 17 weeks tomorrow!!!!

Anyway, I have a couple questions. when I lay down my or even sit up i can feel where my uterus is. It sits about half a finger width from my belly button. I can feel the sides of it too. It gets weird when I feel around. I have 2 thicker spots. not really lumps but harder defined areas. One is up high and up and down and the other is kinda low and side to side.

I'm assuming one might be baby...but isn't he still too small to feel like this? and if one is baby what is the other?

What does your belly feel like?

With my son I was too afraid to really feel around :)

I had a lot of fun early in the pregnancy feeling the progress of my uterus as it expanded up to reach my belly button, then beyond. I knew it was my uterus and not my guts because it was much firmer. After all, it's muscle!

I first really noticed the baby, and not just my uterus, though, because this child likes to be lopsided! Since I really started "showing" in the 2nd trimester I've been able to observe the baby all bunched up on my right side. I get such a kick out of it! (and all the kicking these days is on the left) It's so funny looking!

Yeah, I can tell where baby is too. But the second hard spot has me confused. Sometimes I feel the kicks in that area and sometimes in the other.... maybe I have a really long baby already

But I am already having major baby-on-bladder syndrome. This little guy never stops! He feels just like my ds so far.....

The only time I can feel anything that feels like a baby to me is in the morning when I wake up. Lately it has gotten harder to feel. When I wasn't as far along, I could feel hardness up to my belly button, but part of that was my ab muscles. I had really strong ab muscles for awhile there as I was doing exercises. The muscles don't seem as firm up above as below, though. When I really pull the muscles in, I can feel more stuff.

Amywillo, I hear you on the ab muscles. I never thought I was ripped or anything, but I can't seem to feel anything in there.

At my appointment last week I was measuring 17 weeks with a wide uterus (but don't think I'm that far along yet). I just haven't been able to feel it through my muscles. I'll have to have my MW show me how to palpate myself again.

Sometimes I do think I feel my uterus a fingers width from my hip bones.

Sparklin.... I was measuring 14 weeks at only 8 weeks and at 16 weeks was measuring about 20. My mw said some women feel bigger with baby 2.

Sheesh, IOF -- do your MW know for a fact it's not twins? With your big date & two lumps (one sounded like the placenta to me) but also with your post about 3 heartbeats and all, do you not wonder? Seems like your Jan/Feb group has at least a couple twin pregnancies, maybe you should join them!

I had a fast u/s at 8 weeks and only one babe in there...they wondered if I were farther along or if it was twins but only one babe measuring at the correct date.

i agree...the more I feel around I think the second "lump" is the placenta. And if my placentta was hearable on the doppler then it is possible it is pronounced enough to be the scond lump.

the j/f thread has 2 sets of twins! I thougt holy cow! 2 sets!!

I love being pg and feeling around and feeling baby...its all so exciting!!

My belly feels hard, like a basketball. I feel every single movement he makes. I'm just a month away and I'm so excited! :D
