Help me come up with a "creative" answer!

I know I'm unusual on the board because I don't want to tell people about our pregnancy yet, but please humor me and help me come up with a "creative" way to avoid telling the truth!

My sister-in-law just left me a voicemail, asking me to tell her if I can come on a "women of the family" cruise in mid-August to celebrate my mother-in-law's graduation from college. She wants us to reserve the cruise in the next week or so because we'll save money, and we're treating my mother-in-law, so money is an issue.

Well, clearly, I can't go on a cruise in mid-August, because cruise lines won't let you cruise after 27 weeks. But I don't want to tell my s-i-l *anything at all* yet. And I told her a few weeks ago (before I knew I was pregnant) that I would love to come along on such a trip. Can y'all think of a good excuse for me not to go on a cruise in August?

a friend is getting married in France in August, and there is no way you can do two big trips in one month

you are allergic to shellfish

you are prone to horrible sunburns in August

April (or May) is the off-season for cruises, so can you do it then, instead? (i made that up-- I have no idea when the off season is!)

i'll try to come up with some more. My dh is GREAT at this sort of thing!!

Ditto. I can't think of anyway that you could get out of it other than just being a bit vague and saying that you just can't.

Thanks for the ideas--I think she is going to sniff out the truth, since she has been hounding me about getting pregnant, oh, well, ever since I married her brother. She asked me Christmas day when I was going to have a baby, and told me I shouldn't wait much longer as I am getting "older". :irked: I adore her, but I would really rather have some procreative privacy, you know?

But I'm thinking I might use a version of Xochimama's France excuse. I had planned a trip to China sometime in 2008, and there's no reason I couldn't be going in August/September, right? Now I just have to practice my story so I can be really convincing!
