I'm feeling a little nervous because I called the patient advisory nurse today to find out how much Tylenol is ok to take. Since I'm only 7 1/2 weeks (5 1/2 from concep) she said NONE!!! (Not until 12 weeks) Well 2 days ago I had already taken 500mg two defferent times in one day so now I'm scared as to what could happen. I normally don't take any meds in pregnancy, but I was having a terrible headache and I was checking a gain today because I'm coming down with a cold or something. Killer headache, sore throat, ear pressure, nasal yuckies etc... What to do now??

I surely wouldnt worry about the tylonol the other day!
Most people dont even know yet that their pregnant at this stage.
I've never heard of not taking tylonol because your
"only x wks pg"
I know sudafed is okay during pregnancy for colds. I don't know what else though.
Good luck.

I think you may have gotten some wrong information! I was at the dr's the other day about these headaches I've been getting and I've been reluctantly taking Tylenol occasionally to help me function. My dr reassurred me that Tylenol had been found to be safe *at every stage* of pregnancy and I've never heard/read any differently :)

Oh, thank you SOOO much, I feel SOOO much better. I wonder why she told me that?? Oh well, do you know how much is ok to take. I couldn't find regular strenght tylenol anywhere around here, only extra strength. Each tablet is 500mg.

With my first pregnancy, I took a prescription drug, flumadine, that was contraindicated with pregnancy. I started it actually before I got pregnant and finished it up in the first two weeks before I got my period, before I knew I was pregnant. Then this time around I ended up taking a muscle relaxer once that also said not to take while pregnant. I went to the WebMD site and looked up the side effects with pregnancy for both flumadine and the muscle relaxer, and they said that studies with rats showed problems with pregnancy, but there were no studies for humans. So I shouldn't have taken it, but I wasn't too worried since I just took the one. This was also before I knew I was pregnant this time, but I was having some bad sciatic pain.
I also took an aspirin once in my first pregnancy, and I took Tylenol at times and I think Robitussin. Tylenol and Robitussin were the two things I was told were fine by my OBs. This time I've been better about not taking things, and have taken Tylenol only a couple of times--once when I had a fever that started to get high, and once after a couple of days of more back pain. But then I got a cold and drank some Odwalla Wellness juice with echinacea and astralagus. Only after I drank it did I see the little warning that pregnant women should consult a physician, or something like that. I think half these warnings are just for liability coverage.
Anyway, I'm not saying all this to demonstrate how irresponsible I am, but just to say I really don't think you have anything to worry about. :)
The last time I got a cold, I did get some elderberry extract. The one blend I saw said not to take while pregnant, so I got a bottle that didn't have that warning. It was just elderberry whereas the other had some echinacea and some warn against that while pregnant, but I've also heard it is OK to take. I ended up eating a lot of raw garlic for my throat, and that seemed to help a lot. Cayenne is also good--you can add some powder to juice or tea. I've also read that clove oil can help with sore throat pain. The garlic and cayenne worked fine for me, however.
