Hi,
we're going to be traveling with our 18 month DS to new delhi and Aurangabad, New Delhi in March/April. Just wondering if anyone else had been to/is in India with a toddler and if they had any good words of advice.
things to bring?
things not to bring?
dealing with diapers (we're currently using disposables...) - can you buy them there?
car seats - is it even realistic to think of using one there (we'll be bringing it for the plane in any case)?
any advice would be helpful!

we may be moving to India next year, but have not traveled there since having kids.
I'm interested to see other mama's responses!

so I don't forget to reply in more detail tomorrow...
We are not in Dehli, but living in Bangalore with our 3 and 6 year old. You should be able to buy sposies, but probably not "pull-ups".
Are you renting a car/driver?? The car seat thing is always an issue... taxis/rickshaws will not usually have seat belts. We have our own car and driver and are able to use our car seats/boosters but when we travel via any other mode...we don't bring the seats.
more tomorrow...it's bedtime here :zzz:zzz:zzz

i have lived off and on in india with and without my DD and have allot of friends who travel all over the country with there little ones, some who just arrived home yesterday infact with thier 4 yr old DS and 9 month DD.
you can find almost anything in delhi itself, especailly in the khan market, where all the embassies are located. just ask a taxi driver to take you there once you have arrived and stock up on all you need. real juices for kids 100% jucie, and BIG pack's of diapers which are harder to find around other cities, formual (if needed) and anything you might need for yourself at home too that will be hard to find any where else in the country.there is also a great toy store for anything that was too big to pack and you know you DS loved at home, mostly fisher price item's but some nice wooden toy as well. also an amzing bookstore for you and DS with lot's of good english book's you 'll enjoy to buy or have a cup of coffee and read and play int he kiddy section. our favorate hotel to land in is right around the corner too, the mini TAJ not the big five star, but a wonderful, hotel amazing service, great three room suit's all for around $100 bucks a night and right in the neighborhood that is best to get everything you need before leaveing the area. they have taxi's right our the door who work for the hotel and will drive you al around town for an amazing price and no haggeling. worth every penny.....and they do change in dollars, so since the dollar has dropped quite a bit it mght be more now a days.
i agree with 2honeysmamma about the carseat issue. if you will have your own driver, then you will have the option for the carseats otherwise forget about it, all the taxis even the brand new ones have no seat belts in the backseat so it isnt even possible to use a seat. so mostly it depends on how you wil be getting around. i brought our's and almost never used it the last year we were there. so its up to you there.
anyway, if you have any other questions i would love to help ya! enjoy and peacefully journey!
