OK... I have a machine and a vague memory from taking sewing classes at the Singer store when I was 14... but other than that, I'm clueless.

Anybody have some ideas/books they'd like to recommend to teach myself?? I'd be super happy if I could figure out to hem stuff... maybe sew a pillow. If I dream big, it's about making a hijab or a skirt.

Hi! Here's (http://sewing.about.com/od/beginner1/bb/sewing101.htm) a list of sewing basics with a pillow pattern, too. I might check out sewmamasew (http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=291) (linked to some super easy project ideas) or craftster (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=14880.0)

I saw this yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/muslimasewing/) you might be interested in when you start dreaming big and move on to making a hijab (which I don't think is going to be all that difficult :love)

HTH!

I bought this book (http://www.amazon.com/Sew-Fast-Easy-Need-Start/dp/0312269099/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1201202208&sr=8-2) and really like it. It comes w/ a skirt pattern, too. :wink

I like Amy Karol's Bend the Rules Sewing, too.
