I'm always roasting when gathering everything up to head home after having the baby... not to mention my belly will probably still be quite big... What are you planning to wear home? I want to wear something comfy that I can nurse in as well, that will look nice without making me still look pg. Most of my maternity shirts are fitted...

I am wearing a velour tracksuit *in black* with a soft waistband and a black tank for underneath. I wanted something soft and comfortable. I bought it at 29 weeks because that is how I usually look after childbirth.

Last time, I wore my favorite maternity skirt (knit and fits from pre-pregnancy to 41 weeks and gargantuan), plus a t-shirt.

:thumbi wore my PJ's too, although they were flannel pants and a top because it was winter.

the funny thing is that i bought a new really soft track type suit to wear home and never took it out of the suitcase. i was just too tired to get undressed and redressed 10 hours after giving birth.

i'll take something like a track suit this time just in case, but i'll likely be coming home in my PJ's again.

It'll be about 120 here when I go home, so likely my loosest, comfiest shorts and a comfy t-shirt. I will not be dressing to impress!

I have a cute sundress that pulls down easily up top for nursing. I'm pairing that with a light short sleeved sweater. It's empire waisted so as to not worry about the belly.

With my son I wore a pair of maternity pants with the wide elastic at the top to help with the swishy feeling, and a button-up sleeveless maternity top. Too bad I forgot to brush my hair, so it didn't matter what my clothes looked like, I still looked horrible.

With my daughter I wore a maternity skirt with the big stretchy panel in front to hold in the swishy belly and the only shirt I could fit my boobs into because my milk came in about 24 hours after she was born. Lucky it was one of those "empire waist" sorts of shirts with elastic on the top so I could tug it down pretty easy for nursing. Of course it didn't matter what I wore, she was born at home, but I still wanted to look nice for all the visitors.

HOPEFULLY it will be cool/chilly here when I give birth...so I am hoping to wear a pair of jogging type pants and a sweatshirt. If not..whatever I go to the hospital in...:)

Well, considering it will probably be -40 F or more, I will be wearing about 3 layers of clothing including a down parka and my dp's bunny boots! Last time I gave birth in May and the road was so muddy we had to carry ds all the way to the cabin from the main road--ugh. Luckily this time everything will be frozen!

Well, considering I am birthing at home, I will probably be wearing nothing ;) :P

Me, too... well actually I think I will wear XL men's drawstring shorts and a nursing bra (they need some support ;) ). That's what I wore last time for the first few weeks...

I've only had home births, but for the visitors - the first time I had a knit skirt that had fit me during the first 6 months of pregnancy & a knit top. I think for the first week or so after the other two, I just kept wearing my maternity clothes and didn't care if they looked sloppy. :shrug

Heh I'll be wearing what I wore on my birthday. As naked as the day I entered the world.

While I'd like to say jeans (even if they are maternity) and a nice shirt, I know it'll be sweatpants, tank top, and a sweatshirt. That's almost all I ever wear now so I can't see me getting ambitious and trying to look nice after labor. Plus DH will probably be in pajamas from the time I go into labor to the time he has to go back to work.

Probably some yoga pants and a sweater over a nursing tank. It's pretty chilly still here in April.

Man, I am so glad to birth at home. I work as a doula and I help moms get ready to go home after being in the hospital and it's such a pain! They always look so TIRED!

I have a picture from when I had my first in the hospital... I look ridiculous! I look SO tired and miserable, even though I'm smiling!

Any of you ladies think about birthing at home? Anyone want to but not have a midwife available?
just curious...

Last time I wore a comfy maternity shirt and maternity koulotts (how on EARTH is that supposed to be spelled?).

This time, I assume it'll be something similar.

It depends on the weather.. and how tired I am.. and whether I actually get to the whole packing my bag part before the baby comes. Last time I didn't and DH (got to love him) brought me a pair of jeans (non-maternity) and a Tshirt.. He had to go back and get me some other pair of pants (No way I was fitting into a size 8 right after birth).
This time Im planning on packing my favorite skirt and a loose maternity shirt. Maybe Ill get a shirt to match what color the baby will be wearing.

If it's a Sunday, sweatpants and my bears jersey with a tank top underneath. If not sweat pants, tank top and sweatshirt.

Just a note - if you are "overly prepared" like me and packed your bag thinking that you were sure to go into labor at 37 weeks pregnant, and then are still here past your due date :irked: you might want to take another look at your bag.

I realized last night that in the 4 weeks since I packed my bag, the weather is MUCH cooler. So I had to repack everything to accommodate the cooler weather. At this point I'm wearing yoga pants and a Tshirt but have packed a long-sleeve shirt too.

Last time, I wore the same thing into the hospital that I wore home. It saved on laundry and at least it fit. The only difference is that I'll again have to make sure to have some granny panties packed since I'll need them after my c-section. (I'm a string bikini gal when pg). We have no one meeting us at home. I don't bother with a fancy coming home outfit for the baby either - just something easy to put on for both me and the baby.

Yoga pants or sweats, t-shirt and sweatshirt, flip flops or clogs depending on how chilly it is. Easy, comfy clothes.

Hadn't really thought about it. I think I wore big, frumpy clothes with the boys. I might wear the maternity jeans that I'm wearing right now. They are low rise, stretchy and don't even look maternity. My friend gave me some decent looking long-sleeved nursing shirts, so I could wear one of those home. I never wore nursing shirts with my others, but if I have them now I might as well. I assume it will be a little chilly, but not too cold when I have this baby.

I REALLY wanted a homebrith but my insurance doesnt cover it and if i go to the hospital I wont have to pay a pretty penny. I dont have the money for a midwife... and I've had problems throughout this pregnancy so I dont really want to risk anything. I will labor at home as long as possible with my sister as my coach. she is a rn so she can check me and tell me its time to head to the hospital
