Shall we get to know each other a little bit? :)

My name is Beth, I'm a sahm to Hadassah (5), Ethan (3) and Hannah (2).

I've been married 11 years to an electrician. I stay busy in church and family life. I also like to read, quilt and cook...mostly what I do is cook though!

I have had 3 unassisted births with husband and family present, 2 of which were water births (my favorite way to go!).

I think I'm having a boy, mostly because my poor son needs a brother!

My favorite movie is The Empire Stikes Back. But I am not a geek! (yes, I have all the Star Wars toys from my childhood, but, who doesn't?)

How about you ladies?

I'm Lydia, sahm to Gabriel (8), Kolaiah (4), Winter (2) and Suriya (1 next month).

My DH and I have been married since December 1,2007. He is a manager in a busy technical call center and works long hours. I am learning to knit and sew and I love to cook, although not right at the moment, it makes me feel a little icky.

I've had two hospital births and two midwife-attended home waterbirths. Our last was a virtually unassisted but midwife attended birth in which my DH caught the baby while our midwife sat on our couch knitting. We'd like to go that route again.

I think I'm having a girl, or possibly twins, because I am feeling nauseated already at 3 w4d and tested positive very early for me. Also, I craved Cocoa Puffs, which is totally weird.

I can't think of a favorite movie right now because my brain is mush.

My name is Tricia. I'm 37 and a sahm to 6 girls and 1 boy, ages 1 - 17. I've been married 18yrs to my dear sweet hubby. We were highschool sweethearts. Our ds(7) is of course hoping for a brother, but honestly I'm completely happy with either. If it's a girl, then she will have some good playmates close to her age.

We are a conservative, close-knit, Christian family. I've had my last 5 babies at home with midwives; my first two were c/secs. I'm VERY intrigued by the whole unassisted thing. I always dream of my mw not making it in time, but they always do just in time.

I stay busy with homeschooling and enjoy cooking, cloth diapering, and playing clarinet with my older kids when I get a chance. Our 3 oldest play clarinet, flute, and trumpet, so we have our own little family band going on. I also enjoy playing games with the kids and reading.

My favorite movie... I can't pick just one. I like the old Disney movies like The Parent Trap, The Ugly Dachshund, That Darn Cat. I also like Sound of Music and National Treasure. Pretty tame here.:D I used to like thriller type movies, but I just can't do those anymore.

I don't have an official positive yet (but I am pretty positive, with out the test). :)
You all seemed so great, I just wanted to join in!

I am Marci, sahm to Adelynn (2.5) and Elias (9 months). I am excitedly scared about having another baby so soon, but the more the merrier, right!

We live and work at a camp for low income children in the Four Corner region. We live simply for the Lord and enjoy life soooo much! :love I am contemplating a home birth this time (1st- midwife at birth center, 2nd- midwife at hospital). I just need to get my dh on board.

I love knitting, reading, crafting and teaching my children. I am trying to learn more about healthy and organic eating and I have recently started jogging. We want to have better habits in life.

I think we are having a...baby?!? LOL! I don't have a clue, never do!

My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice (6 hour version). I also love In Pursuit of Happyness and Goonies!

Hi everyone!

I'm Carrie, married to Chris since May 2006, and this will be our first baby. We started dating when we were 17 (we are now both 26) and we are so excited about this adventure!

Right now I'm currently working full time as an administrative assistant for a raw materials distributor in the cosmetics industry, but I just earned my Esthetics license and am looking for a new job/career in the spa industry. Right now my biggest concern is getting this new job early enough (hopefully before my 1st trimester is over!) so that I can comfortably work in a spa throughout the pregnancy. We will see how that pans out, I suppose.

Chris and I are both vegan and plan on raising our baby vegan as well.

Other than that, we have two cats whom we love dearly, and we are working on renovating our home that we have had for almost 4 years. That's us in a nutshell! So happy to meet everyone! Congrats to all!

Hi Ladies! I am thrilled to be joining all of you. I don't have an official due date yet, but I think it will be around Oct. 8 or so.

My name is Adrienne and I am a sahm to Ben (6) and Eli (3) who bring me joy, laughter, frustration and chaos everyday. We are a homeschooling family and we are loving it. I am very passionate about homeschooling.

I am married to a wonderful man, who puts up with me and my extended family - Bless his heart! We have been married almost 12 years and we met while we were both traveling in Europe in our early 20s. Man, that seems like a lifetime ago.

Our two sons were both born as naturally as possible in a Birth Center/hospital with a wonderful midwife. Our first was induced because of high blood pressure at 38 weeks. I also had an IV with antibiotics because I tested positive for Group B Strep. Otherwise, it went really well and took about 6 hours. Our second was born on his due date and with very little assistance in about 3 hours. I am hoping for an even quicker birth this time!

I would love to have a girl, but I am not going to make any predictions this time. I thought the first two were going to be girls...Oops! My parents have 6 grandsons and no granddaughters, so a girl would be a nice addition, and I would really like to name her after my mother. But I would be just as happy with another boy. I love my boys!

I would like to try a homebirth, as I was born at home unassisted. I know my father would be very proud to attend the birth of one of my children, since he was the one who "caught" me. I am a little nervous though because my second son was limp when he was born. He came out of it quickly, but that made me very nervous. He was just like a pile of jelly when they handed him to me, and then they quickly took him and rubbed him all over to 'bring him to life'. It was very scary. I am sure that a trained midwife could have done the same thing, but I am still a little scared. Actually my first choice over having a homebirth is to have this baby at The Farm in middle TN - where the author of Spiritual Midwifery, Ina May Gaskin lives and (I think) still is a midwife. We live about an hour and a half away, so I am hoping to get in there. (We have moved since our last child was born, so hiring the midwife we used before is out of the question.)

We decided a while back to live a simpler life. We moved to a farm in the middle of nowhere with my parents and my sister and her family. We all have our own houses (thankfully - Living with extended family isn't always easy.) and plenty of room on 200 acres. We are growing as much of our own food as we can, and we are working on building new houses - as the ones that were here are not very efficient or nice. We hope to convert mostly to solar and wind power over the next few years. We have bees, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, guineas, geese, ducks, and lots of dogs and cats. We love this lifestyle, even though it is pretty hard sometimes. We have a very limited income, but lots of love and we get to spend tons of time together - which is what life is all about, right?

As for hobbies, I don't have time for much with the farm and the kids. I love homeschooling and playing and doing crafts with the kids. I love to bake and I like to cook. I love to read and write (Can you tell? I tend to ramble.) and I would really like to finish the three books I've started writing. I also love scrapbooking, but I have no time for it.

As for movies, there are too many to mention. I loved the Lord of the Rings and my dh and I just finished the Bourne trilogy, which we also loved. I really like old movies/musicals too.

Well, I hope we all have a great 9 months. I am very excited about it, and happy that I have a place to come and share with others who are going through the same things. :)

My name is Misty, I'm a sahm to Elizabeth (8), Raymond (6), Olivia (4), and Louis (17 months).

I've been married almost 12 years to an computer engineer/architect. I also like to read, sew, knit, crochet, scrapbook, and cook. I'm a total foodie, so be prepared - a lot of my posts will be food related! :lol

I have had two midwife attended hospital births - one was horrible; one was great. I have also had two midwife attended home births that were wonderful. I'll be having a home birth this time. I've heard that my midwife retired. :( I've also heard a rumor that she is only semi-retired and will still work with previous clients. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I'm calling her first thing Monday morning.

I have no idea if I'm having a boy or girl. If previous history continues, we'll have a girl! We have girl, boy, girl, boy.

I love just about any genre movie - including SciFi. Dh turned me into SciFi fan!

my name is Stephanie. I am haven't even been married a whole year yet. We got married when ds was 8 months old. I am 31, but will be 32 when this baby is born.

My first ds was a scheduled c-section. I had fibroids and a bicornute uterus that were both fixed by surgery before I got pregnant. The surgery left too much scar tissue so I was at a higher risk than just someone with previous c-sections. So, I know for a fact this baby will be a c-section too, unless it comes super fast and there isn't any time. Also, last time they scheduled me at 37.5 weeks, so... my Oct. 2nd due date may get bumped back to September. But since Oct is my official due date, I am going to stay in this ddc.

I do home daycare, so I have been able to be with my ds... oh btw he is 18 months.

Hobbies??? I like to shop, I am a compulsive house cleaner (like in an ocd way) and I also enjoy reading.

nice to meet you all!

My name is Janet. My DH and I have been married since June 29, 2002. DH works for University of Phoenix as an enrollment counselor and I am in my second semester of nursing school. I have five children: Hannah and Hailey, identical girls (6), one single boy, C.J. (4) and Anthony and Jamie, boy/girl twins (2).

I have done just about everything you can in childbirth. My first were with an epidural in the hospital with an OB, my middle son was a natural birth in the hospital with a CNM, and my babies were a planned homebirth, but we transported for a c-section. So the only thing I haven't done is a homebirth, which we are going to do this time. Yay for HBAC! :thumb

I enjoy reading, cross-stitching, watching movies and just spending time with my kids. I also work as a doula and Bradley teacher. I am considering training as a midwife (as soon as I am done with this semester of nursing school for my LPN) so I stay pretty busy. I too would like my midwife to sit there and watch my birth. I basically want an unassisted birth with my mw there as a bystander, you know...as a friend. She is the one who will be training me in the future :fingersx:

It's really hard to pick just one favorite movie, but I really love Say Anything. I really like all kinds of movies, but I'm a real sap for romantic comedies.

Hi! My name is Maegen and I'm 28. DH and I have been married since Nov. 2005. I live in San Diego but I was born and raised in Texas and still consider that home.

DH and I are both ocularists and we own a business together in San Diego. That means that we work together. Yep, 24/7. You can check out what we do at www.artificialeye.net

I am planning on homebirth which makes DH a little nervous. I am looking at midwives in our area right now and hope to find someone that I really love.

My biggest hobby is paragliding. I am a tandem instructor and I love taking people up on their first flight. I will have to give that up pretty quickly I know, but I will go back to it after the baby is born. I also love to run, do yoga, read, hike and just about anything outdoors.

My favorite movie of all time is Casablanca. I just saw Juno and it was great! Basically, I like all good movies from the dramas to the popcorn flicks.

I'm Mandi, SAHM to Leo (3.5) and Evelyne (14 mo). I teach Bradley Method birthing classes once a week. My husband is a handsome French computer geek:)

I have had two natural births (one at a free standing birth center and one at a hospital). I hope to have a home water birth this time.

I'm originally an army brat from Texas. I've been in the Northwest for 5 years now. My hobby is watching foreign films from Netflix, reading, baking (gluten-free at the moment), and I sometimes write poetry. The last movie that I saw and liked enough to add to favorites was "Stranger than Fiction" with Will Ferrel. I like working out at the gym when DH can watch the kids long enough for me to get away:)

Nice to meet you all!

And BTW- I'm from Texas too. Thank God I got out! )Corpus Christi(

Dh is from Dallas!

What is it that you don't like about Bradley? Dh and I took a class when I was pg for the first time. I think we learned a lot of good info about breathing and relaxing. We also learned a lot of good info about positioning. I didn't read the original book by Bradley. I've been told that it's pretty chauvenistic! (Yea, I know I just spelled that wrong!) I have to give him kudos though, he was a huge supporter of natural childbirth and getting fathers into the delivery room.

Bumping this thread but also giving a bit more of an intro about myself.

I posted before that I have 3 kids, 2 were born in the hospital, one at home. I'd love this one to be a homebirth also but I know things can change in unforseen ways.

Right now the biggest thing in my life is that I"m newly separated from my husband do to his mental health issues. He hit his head a year ago exactly and has been recovering from that but it caused some other issues that he was refusing to deal with to become a big enough problem that he had to deal with them. I can totally see God's hand in everything that has happened in the last year but it's hard on us. Right now dh is not allowed unsupervised visitation with the children (doctor's orders which I completely agree with) and he's supposed to limit family time to just me as much as possible. I don't know the plans God has for the future but I can see his working with everything leading up to this so I'm content and feel blessed.

I found out that I was pregnant a week after the kids and I left home. Dh doesn't know yet, pretty much no one irl knows. I"m living with my parents right now but looking into other options.

Favorite movie? Hmmm... pride and predjudice is probably the one I"d watch over and over. But I'm not really sure beyond that.

I'm Linda, a 31yo SAHM and part-time Music Together teacher, born and raised in the SF bay area. DH (33) is a hardware designer for a startup in Silicon Valley. We met through an online match service six years ago this Sunday.

DS is 2 years old and still nursing happily (but recently night-weaned).

Our family in a nutshell: AP, GD, unschooling, TV-free. We have an amazing AP community in our area. We lived on a 30-ft sailboat until DS was 15 months, and have plans to sail away for an extended period sometime in the future.

We had a hospital birth with DS (we didn't want to try a homebirth on a sailboat) and had an incredible experience: drug- and intervention-free, nearly pain-free, and intense! But, we really want to have a homebirth for #2. We're due 10/12, five days before DH's birthday.

Favorite movies: Fight Club, Box of Moonlight, City of Lost Children and more I can't remember now...it's been a while since we've seen anything.

Happy to be here with the group!

Hello, hello, everyone!

I'm staring at two bloody obvious pink lines, so I guess I get to join in. :D

The husbandperson and I are both 28, and this is our first. He's a teacher, I work retail part-time. We have three dogs. And, by the way, that is very often three too many. ;) We're Christians, but haven't been going to church as much as we ought to. :o Will have to rectify that now that a little one is on the way.

My hobbies include cross-stitching, reading, and spending too much time on the computer. I've done a little sewing in the past, and my goal is ultimately a good fitting pair of pants, but I think I'll put that on hold now. :) We plan on having a free-standing birth center birth, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, and sorta co-sleeping - will probably side-car a crib.

Now. Where do I get one of those ticker things? :)

My name is Erin, I'm 29 (will be 30 when this babe is born, which is perfect because I wanted to be done having kids at 30) and married for almost 8 years now. I have a 3 year old named Audrey born 12/04 and my DH stays home with her while I work full-time. I do tech support.

Why does he stay home? Well, I live in Canada and am a natural born citizen (as is DD), but DH is American and just recently got his permanent residence approved here so he wasn't legally able to work. He will have a job by the time babe is born so that we will have his income as well as mine from maternity leave.

My last birth was an emergency c-section, but baby was healthy and I had an incredibly easy recovery from it. Want to avoid that this time. Have a feeling this one will be a boy, but another girl would be more than welcome. We plan to be done either way.

Other than work, I am co-directing and acting in a local dinner theatre that goes into performances in the first week of March, so with the exhaustion of early pregnancy I am plumb worn out!

I'm Ashley, mama to 4 homebirthed little ones...3 DS's: 8, 6, and 4, and DD: 19 months. This will make baby #5 and everyone is still a little shell-shocked by that. Like all the other kiddos, we'll plan a midwife-assisted HB for this babe, too.

I'm a nurse and I work in a free-standing birth center. I'm also in grad school working on my CNM. I suppose if we could've chosen the best time to be expecting again this would be it as my school schedule will be manageable early fall. I was at 2 births in the wee hours of the morning and I was an emotinal nutcase, lol! I just kept thinking that I'll have another precious babe, too in October.

Another interesting fact: dh and I are vegan. He's been vegan for almost 15 years and I've been vegan going on 9 years. I've had 3 veagn pregnancies and our kids have been veg since birth.

In my "spare" time I can get pretty crafty. I've been sewing since I could ride a bike so that's my passion. I'm also into photography and am a certified birth art junkie. My poor dh calls our room the "breast and belly shrine.":D

I'm super excited to be here and hope to be more active in this ddc than I was able to be with my last preg.

Hi!
I just found out I am pg, and now I can't sleep, although I really should be.
My name is Kate. I have been married to DH for 4 years. We have a 7 month old, Claire. It has taken me about five minutes to go from elated to very worried about being a mom to two small kiddos! I love bf-ing and am just starting to cloth diaper, which has turned out to be really addictive.
I am a sixth grade teacher, working very part time this year to be with DD. I love teaching almost as much as being a mom.
I live far in the middle of nowhere.
I had a medicated hospital birth last time. I am hoping for a nonmedicated birth this time.
I am really thrilled to be part of this group! Thank you all for being so warm and welcoming!:)

Hmm, haven't gotten around to posting here!

I have a 3 1/2 year old little boy who is the love of my life. I got to stay home with him for the first year and a half, then I went back to school and work part time. About 8 months later I started online classes and ran an in-home daycare so I could have time with my little guy, which was great. :) I finalized a separation a year and a half ago and as a result of the ongoing stresses of that, moved up to TN for a semester to have some family support. I moved back down here after the semester was over in December to be with DP, we've been together a little over a year and we decided we wanted to have a life together. My sister planned a rushed wedding for this spring so we held off on those plans, but now we've found that we're expecting a little one. DP and I have known each other since we were 16 and have always had "something" between us, it was just always one of those games where one person was always dating someone else in high school and after, then we lost touch. He's a fire medic, I was going to school for nursing on my way to midwifery, but I was thinking of switching gears and going for teaching and now with this babe coming that is definitely what I'm doing, I'll be able to take online courses that way.

We're an all natural type family, when I first found MDC I was thrilled to feel "at home" instead of the odd one out. We do all the "weird" things, child led weaning, ECing and CDing, cosleeping, GD, etc etc. I'm currently trying to teach myself to knit so I can make soakers and longies for this little one. :)

Interesting bunch we are!

I'm Kelli, 30 yo, a midwife, Canadian, mama to Scarlett (2 yo) and married for almost 9 years to DH. The closest thing to affiliating with a religious group would be unitarian. We are a very nature oriented family and celebrate solstice and equinox. We try to eat organic and mostly local foods. ITA with other posters about feeling at home here at MDC, we too do the weird stuff like cloth diaper, nurse toddlers, cosleep etc...

Hmmm, hobbies...mostly midwifery related (as I would call it a lifestyle instead of a job), I like hiking, swimming, anything winter related...skating, skiing, I even taught ice climbing when I was younger and much more fit. My goal this year is to have a much more balanced life and DO the things I enjoy doing.

My secret bad mother confession is that DD is 2 and I STILL haven't finished her "baby" book :o. That is this month's project :D.

Favourite movie eh? There are so many? I'll think about it.

Happy to be here and looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

I'm Tara (26), married to Ryan (28 on Feb 13). We were married on Oct 7, 2006. We live in Kansas City and I work as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. As soon as I'm not physically able to work or baby is born, I'll be a SAHM. DH runs a property management company. We have a home about 3 blocks from my parents and are really enjoying home-ownership. We have plans to finish painting the interior before summer and replace the backsplash and countertops in the kitchen. They're original from when the house was built in 1976 so it's a beautiful mustard yellow.....:lol We'll also be replacing the fridge, dishwasher, and washer/dryer as soon as our tax refund comes. I'm so excited! Who knew I'd ever be excited about new appliances!

This is our first baby, due around Oct 17. We were successful on our 5th cycle and are absolutely thrilled! :) Before I was pg, our baby was always a girl in my dreams but now that I'm actually pg, I feel like it's a boy. It's very strange, my gut feeling just changed, almost immediately.

We have 2 kitties, Rhett (Chocolate Point Siamese) and Gus (Burmeses) who we spoil rotton!

My fave movie/book is Gone With the Wind. I'm hooked on Across the Universe right now though. It makes me cry every time!

I'm a music nut. My real Dad is a drummer so I was raised on classic and southern rock like Tom Petty, Scandal, Bob Seger, and Georgia Satellites. He doesn't play professionally or anything but he's always involved in a band and, growing up, I loved to listen when they practiced. My CD collection is EXTREMELY eclectic with everything from Disney soundtracks to Metallica, George Straight to big band swing, etc. I just love music!

I really enjoy cross stitching and have recently started one we bought on our anniversary trip to Disney World in Oct. It's Mickey and Minnie sitting on a park bench, Norman Rockwell-style. It's huge so I'm hoping it'll be a great project during my pregnancy. :)

We are season ticket holders for Mizzou Football but I imagine I won't be attending those this fall since baby is due around homecoming. :lol We'll see how I feel when we have to decide to buy or not in April. I just can't see being very enthused about football when it's hot outside in August and I'm 30 weeks pg. :) We got to go to the Cotton Bowl to watch Mizzou play on New Years Day and had a blast! The hotel had a really awesome new years eve party and tailgates and such. We went with DH's parents, grandma, brother, and brother's girlfriend. SO much fun!

Anyway, I'm sure I've rambled enough and you all know more about me than you really wanted to. :wink

happy & blessed

Hi all! It is so interesting to read about all of you! I am Jaclyn, a stay at home mom to my 20 month old daughter. I also babysit a 19 month old boy in my home too (might have to tell his mom no more after October!).
We had a homebirth with the first, and plan to again with this one. Last pregnancy though, we started out with an OB/hospital planned because truthfully, I didn't even know I had options. Then we took our Bradley class, and realized that people do still have homebirths, :lol. So, we researched the options, and switched to a midwife at 33 weeks prego. And the homebirth was great. I can't imagine doing it any other way.
We are a christian family, pretty active in church, although we are WAY different than most there. I am a vegetarian, dh is veg at home (haha because i don't cook meat), but he eats meat when we go out to eat. DD wil prob. be a veg.
Before being a mommy, I was a mental health counselor at a children's home, and I currently teach an online class for a college in NC - Developmental psych.
And, the biggie, we just finished our homestudy to do foster/adopt through the foster care system - hoping to adopt a 0-2 year old. So, we may end up with a foster baby in a few months, and then our bio baby in October. We just pray everything works out okay....
It's nice to meet you all!

hey everyone! Thought i'd through out my intro. I'm Yvonne, 39 yr. mama to seven (16g, 14b, 12b, 10g, 9b, 7g, & 5g), living out in North Colorado. I've been divorced from my ex for 3yrs now. I'm currently with my wonderful SO for over a year. This will be my #8 and his #1. I've had 4 hospital births and my last 3 at home (with #7 a waterbirth). Looking forward to another home waterbirth with this baby. Oh, I work fulltime outside the home for a construction company as an HR Manager. Not sure yet what I'll do when baby comes but that will come later. guess that's it for now.
