View Full Version : Body Odor?!

Ok... So I'm 5wksPP and I'm having this awkwardly embarrassing problem...

The deodorant that I used before really doesn't work at all anymore... that and I used to have this aluminum free one and that actually made me smell worse somehow...

I thought it might be my breast pads leaking but it's not - in fact I'm not really leaking too much anymore...

Anyone have this problem after birth? It's driving me nuts (and probably driving people around me nuts - more notedly my mother who always makes it a point to tell you about your BO)

Suggestions?

TIA :)

have you tried the liquid crystal spray? I find that works the best and when you put a few drops of your favorite essential oil in there's a good smell on top of it.

:hug very normal stage to go through and it doesn't last too long!

My mw told me she has lots of moms w/ this issue. I think it's probably to help the baby find you! :D

Where can you find that? :)

This is totally normal right now. Your body is getting rid of the pg hormones in your body and they are coming out in your sweat. Do you ever wake up at night soaking wet? It will probably last a few weeks and then things will get back to normal. When I was in the middle of this I admit that I put away the natural deo and used the high-power aluminum stuff for a while because I was offensive, even to myself.

I smell stronger whern I am pregnant and while nursing in the early stages. All those hormones:eyesroll
I found a really great natural deodorant by a company called Oyinhandmade.com. It is handmade and really works. If I put it on in the morning I wake the next day without stench which amazed me :)

Yeah I do sometimes =\ and at first like I said I thought I was leaking but it didn't look like it - and I wake up feeling sticky and smelling rancid :(

I get it at Fred Meyers or the health food store. You can put it on as often as needed though I find once every day or two works just fine.

After my second I remember describing my odor as something like vegetable beef stew. I would smell even an hour after a shower. Embarrassing.

Yeah, I smell like the back alley of an Indian restaurant for about 4 months pp. I noticed it the first time during labor and actually realized I was pg the second time when I woke up one morning with my nose in my pit and thought wait a minute...I had DP take a whiff and he agreed with me. I think it is hormones, because my hair stops falling out when I start to smell like myself again. And if it's to help the baby find you, mine would have been able to home in from several miles away. In the dark. Nothing natural works for me.

I noticed it during labor, too and continued for several months pp. Actually, i really just recently stopped stinking now that I think about it.:o

Anyways, the only thing that worked for me is the crystal deo and then applying some baking soda. I refuse to use the aluminum stuff for my own health and plus reg. deo makes me break out sometimes. Anywho...HTH

I swear by baking soda now. I just use a cotton poof and dab it on after my morning shower. It is the only thing that works consistently.

Do you wet the cotton? Or just put on dry baking soda?

I usually just put on dry baking soda, although, since it is after my shower i am usually slightly damp still. I have put on a "natural" deodorant and then baking soda on top of it for better staying power before though and that works really well too :)

Yup. If people really want to see the baby, they'll put up with your stink politely. ;) Actually, that may be what it's designed for. To keep annoying family members and friends away while you babymoon. :lol

I was quite ripe for several weeks after having both of my kids. Twice a day showering and antiperspirant didn't touch my stink. :o I normally don't stink, and I rarely wear antiperspirant. I wonder if that is natures way of helping babies bond to/know their mothers as opposed to other possible care givers.
