I'm in the Sept DDC but I saw your thread. I am 37 (as of Nov) and this is my fifth child. Are you getting testing done?

no testing. i was 38 when ds3 was born. they had me going through all kinds of tests (originally was with a OB before switching at 36 weeks to a midwife).
they told me he had the possiblity of having downs sydrome and had cysts on his brain (VERY VERY common and not a big deal at all in most cases). it completely stressed me out so this time im doing no tests (other than the blood test b/c i think the MW may need that for insurance purposes).

I've had a vaginal u/s for dating purposes at 7 weeks 2 days which confirmed my date (I had figured myself to be 7 weeks 3 days). I am scheduled for a test where they measure the thickness of the baby's neck (on u/s) and draw blood from me. This is scheduled for the end of Feb.

I've never done any testing except the AFP in the past but I wasn't 37 either. I am just a bit nervous.

I never even used to see my OB until 12 weeks for the first pre natal appt, this is all new to me.

i was 22, 30 and then 38 w/ my kids. the one when i was 38 added soo much stress...they wanted me to get a flu shot..they ran so many tests and i was pressured constantly about an amnio. i just do not want to go through all that again so im going to take whatever is granted. :)

I'm 37, will be 38 when the baby is born. I'm not having any fancy testing done this time. Last time we had a little scare of DS from a routine US which then led to a level 4 US and talk of an amnio, etc, etc. In the end we had a perfectly healthy baby girl with no abnormalities whatsoever. I learned that the testing is notorious for false positives and negatives, so this time I will not be doing it. All it did last time was cause a lot of undue stress and robbed me of a lot of joy of the pregnancy. I was 36 that pregnancy.

Looks like I am the oldest so far! I will be 41 in May.

TTC #3 for 8 cycles, with high FSH, just found out this morning.

We were about to give up and take a 5 month break, more likely a permanent one.

Suprise!

I am Only 41 :-) My babe # 8, when I was 37, was a fairly hard one. I seemed to feel every twinge.
My last babe, # 9 born to me when I was 39, was my easiest pregnancy and birth ever. (we also have 5 adopted blessings)

I have friends that were 45, 46 and 47 when their last babies were born - all perfectly normal, healthy babies, and all 3 were home births without complications. I hope I should be so blessed!

I conceived #2 on my 43rd birthday...one month ago! My DS was also conceived on my 40th birthday. I'm so excited and don't feel old at all. I am so thankful that this has come to be...it's a magical time that I wouldn't change for the world. :love :love

awesome thread! I'm 35, pg wth #1, and just yesterday my doc suggested all that testing... which I politely declined. I'm grateful to read all of your experiences and feel so confirmed that I can remain strong and confident in the health of my babies!

I've got you all beat. 44, and will turn 45 one month after this babe is born. Going next wednesday for an U/S, I should be 7 weeks by then (i think).

Actually I am likely the oldest at 48 with a naturally conceived pregnancy. I feel blessed but very hesistant. I have 5 living children, the last of whom was born when I was 41 and 7 months. We waited until I was 45 to try again. I've had 3 m/c followed by a year of no conception and now miraculously am 45 days pg. We'll see whether I get a baby this time. So far, so good.

I will be 40 when this baby is born. I won't be having any testing done. The testing with my last baby scared the heck out of me, unnecessarily.

I'll be 37 when this baby is born. I'm planning on avoiding any testing except the 20 week ultrasound, which is standard here for all pregnancies. I'm also planning on having a midwife for this pregnancy, because I'd really like to have a VBAC, and I think working with a midwife will be my best chance at that.

I'll be 39 when our 1st baby is born. I may have the 20 week u/s, but no other tests. Wow, I suppose that is older than your average 1st time mom, but I don't feel old!
