I had surgery to fix my poor "not worthy of housing a baby" uterus. It was bi-cornute and FULL of fibroids. Its been fixed and sheltered my ds just fine. HE was a scheduled C though because of all the scar tissue. I know this baby will be the same thing. I never even got to dream about giving birth, especially not at home. It doesnt really bother me, after all the end result is the same, I get my baby! I know I am a minority here though... just wondered if anyone else was in the same boat.

im not in the same boat but im so sorry. i am glad you are fine w/ it though. i think thats really important. sometimes c/s's are a necessity. i just wish that the medical establishment would allow women to decide when they are or not as opposed to being "forced" into them. :(

i have seen some birth plans for c/s's that are good birthing experiences too (such as not going to a recovery room afterwards and not being away from the baby..w/ my first 2, thats what killed me mostly).

with my ds, he never left my side. the cleaned him up in the operating room and then gave him to my dh to hold until we all went back to the recovery room together. They even had me breastfeeding about 45 minutes after the birth. I was holding him 15 minutes after. I am definately going back to the same doc and hospital because I have heard stories that other hospitals are not the same. I am planning to ask my doc if the baby can be layed across my chest while they sew me up. id I had to be seperated I would definately not be as easy going about it.

that sounds good. they separated me from both ds1 and ds2. thats why i just cant do another hospital birth.

c section mama here, too. Lost last baby girl to placental abruption and, yep, uterine rupture.
So not only will I have another c section but they will probably not let me go further than 37 weeks (which worries me)

my ds was 37.5 weeks. I am assuming this one will be too. I might ask the doc to let me go to 39 and then do it before if I go into labor. Last time I was just so anxious to have him here. Now I know it would be better to give that few extra weeks.

That what happened to me last time. I went into labor and didn't know it...thus causing my scar to open. So the goal is to deliver the baby BEFORE labor...last time I started having contractions around 35 weeks. But those were just bh

I'm going to be a second c-section too. I love the idea of a birthing plan that allows you to stay with the baby (especially on chest while being sewed up) and my preference would be to not be left in a storage room for two hours (probably only 45 minutes, but it felt like it) alone. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll talk to my doc about a birthing plan that is definitely more amenable.

Not in the same boat, but I am glad that you have a doc/birth at a hospital that is so much better than many out there!
