Hi all! It's Sunday again - Game Day Sunday! Woo hoo. Go Patriots!
Besides that, I think I'll be scrapbooking and doing some house cleaning. I know how to have some serious fun!
What's going on with you guys this week?

Busy week for us - preschool, playdates, naturopath appts, etc. I am excited to have a cranial sacral appt. for Saturday. That should help with my lower back (which is already achey when I lay down at night).
I ate two chocolate croissants instead of one at breakfast this morning. Shame on me!

We went shopping this morning. Figured we should knock the big things out since we just got out tax check. :lol Before it's long gone. So we got the carseat I wanted for the new baby. Britax companion in onyx and I found a skip hop diaper bag for 14 bucks on clearance! It's a good feeling that the rest of this pregnancy I'll just be picking up things here and there... diapers and such. My sister has saved tons of boy and girl clothes so now we really don't need much of anything. I feel so victoriously on top of things today!!!!
I got some weleda belly oil. It smells nice and the woman in whole foods said the bottle should last most of the pregnancy.
I want to make up a homeopathic pregnancy and birth kit. Any thoughts on that?
Dh is off for the next 2 weeks. Should be interesting...
Oh and morning sickness has finally showed up. I've never had it much with any of my kids. It starts about 9 PM. How much does that suck?!
I'm thinking of doing hypnobabies or hypbirth. Any thoughts? Any experience? After my last birth, pain seems to be a huge looming fear that I'd like to have a way to deal with. I'm not into any form of coached childbirth so bradley is totally out.
I've been reading about the secret fit jeans at motherhood on some of the other DDC's and I think I'll head up there to try some on tomorrow. I bought some bigger sized lowrise stretchy jeans but they're still kind of binding feeling and that makes me completely nutty in pregnancy. These will be great in a few months though I think when my belly holds them down low. I'm not in maternity just yet but it won't be long. I didn't make it to 6 weeks last time!

Ok, I thought I was going crazy. Everything I've been reading has been telling me I shouldn't have gained weight yet and everything should still fit. So why do I feel like my jeans are a size too small??? I even weighed myself and I'm up a whole pound, whoopdie-doo, not enough for my pants to bind me up. So it's not completely unheard of to want new pants already? I feel like I want to live in sweats or sleepy pants! It's driving me NUTS!!!
I actually got a pair of khaki-ish pants at Old Navy last week, and they're soooo comfortable (not maternity or anything, just not jeans) and I was debating getting more. Maybe I'll check out those pants you mentioned instead?

Nope, totally normal. Matter of fact, even with my first baby I was TINY when I got pregnant and within a week I felt like my pants were tight. I bought bigger sizes for months and finally gave in to maternity at 6 ish months.
I came home with 2 pairs of those secret fit pants. Denim and khaki cargo pants/capri convertible style. And a cute organic tee shirt. :) Yes, they're THAT comfy. I don't like the panty hose feeling of the band but the comfort factor trumps the poly factor.

How do you chart your pregnancy? I mean, what info are you keeping track of?
Also wanted to say I too am wearing stratchy pants already. I wear jeans if I absolutely have to... but other wise no more, thank you. I even got out my tub of maternity clothes from the basement and got a pair of nicer pants to wear to a super bowl party we went to last night. I just dont care! I want to be comfortable dammit!

I haven't worn jeans since getting my BFP but I was wearing some slightly tight elastic waistband pants and I was very uncomfortable after about half an hour and had to change into my pajama bottoms. It's really a good thing I rarely leave the house :lol

I read about the "top 10 maternity jeans" on some parenting site online. Most were up there in price ($180 a pair - yikes!). Last pregnancy I splurged on a pair of Childish brand maternity jeans (with the stretchy material and super low-rise. They worked all through pregnancy and postpartum, but the material was super worn-looking, and by the end they had holes all over them and patches in the knees. I need a pair that I can wash over and over. I read about the motherhood secret-fit jeans - but they seemed to be better in the third trimester (they fit over the whole belly, right? I don't like that until I have a bigger belly). Let me know how those go. I'd love to hear maternity clothes opinions.
I'm still the same size and everything. With DD I didn't start showing until 2nd trimester, but maybe I'll be earlier since its my 3rd time around. That would be kind of cool.
I'm keeping a pregnancy journal and reading "Birthing From Within" by Pam England (and doing the art projects and writing exerpts in my journal). My friend did hypnobirthing and liked it. As for Bradley, it depends on the teacher. There is a main curriculum, but it can be attended by a partner (not necessarily husband, though originally designed for that) or doula. My bradley teacher incorporated hypnobirthing and was trained in teaching both, though I tend to try to focus inwardly and relax through contractions as Bradley Method teaches. I'm really liking the Birthing from Within book - you all might like it too.
Okay - I'm going to try to nap for a while.

Another mama chiming in on the need for bigger/more comfy clothes!!
I was so miserable in my jeans that I got out a giant box and removed all my "skinny" clothes from my closet~~ I didn't need them taunting me :lol
Comfort is way too important to me and with this being #5 , I swear the minute I got my BFP my tummy started to poke out a little :belly
We made a trip to a thrift store this weekend and i bought like 5 "in between" outfits for next to nothing....nothing with buttons or snaps on the belly. I get really weird about that. It's elastic or drawstring only!!!
Oh and today I got a sling I ordered in the mail!!

im just a bit paranoid. in case of a transfer (which wont happen but i dont want to risk it), i will have a log of how my preg. has been, etc. etc.
i feel that i am not alone in this pregnancy...we cant have a MW assistant but if anything goes wrong, i want to make sure i have documentation that i took care of myself. Big Brother sticking its nose in our business, yk (yeh, i know i sound a little bitter..im working on that. :) ).

Hi all! It's Sunday again - Game Day Sunday! Woo hoo. Go Patriots!Ahem. I do love a good upset. ;)
Oh and morning sickness has finally showed up. I've never had it much with any of my kids. It starts about 9 PM. How much does that suck?!I don't know if I'm actually having morning sickness, per se, (not even 5 weeks yet!!) 'cause my tummy doesn't feel queasy too often, but it does feel upset or very "have to eat, NOW" sometimes. And yes, it is strongest in the evening. Which sucks, since when I work, I work evenings. In retail, so on my feet. Sigh.
As for clothing, nothing I own now actually fits me in the waist - it's all too big! :o I have a pretty pronounced difference between my waist and hips, so I have to buy to fit my hips and therefore most of my pants sit a few inches lower than they should. Well, I could wear a belt to cinch them up, but I don't do that because a) belts are annoying, and b) I'm tall and can't afford to lose the length in the legs. I'm actually hoping that being pregnant will make my pants fit better, and that I can wear them for a bit longer than normal. *knock on wood* Just when should a slender first time mom expect to be in maternity clothes anyway?

Yeah. That was how I felt last week. I wish I were back there! :(
When it hits you, you will know. This is my 1st pregnancy (it's your 1st, too, right? Correct me if I'm wrong) and I didn't realize it was going to feel like this. I'd say, if a 10 was puking my guts up/flu like, today was about an 8. I didn't actually throw up, but I came damn well close, and I couldn't really function until about 12 noon after a potato chip and a cup of peppermint tea. The chip actually helped settle my stomach. I managed a few saltines with veggie pepperoni for lunch.
Other than that, I'm off to take my 5 week belly pic! I look like crap today! Woo hoo!
Got my first midwife appointment/consultation tomorrow. I'll have to fill you guys in on what happens and how it goes. I'm excited! I'm going to have a ton of questions and I'm bringing my chart b/c I'm so friggin proud! :love

I managed a few saltines with veggie pepperoni for lunch.Yup yup, you are correct, this is my first! I'm actually a bit afraid of what might happen in the next week or two, since my stomach is already acting up. And the weird thing is, when I haven't eaten, the worst pain is up high, right under my breastbone. It was horrible the nights I worked last week - I had to consciously focus on my breathing to avoid tensing up even further. I'm afraid I'm going to have to tell my work much earlier than I want to, in order to prove that I'm not just being lazy when I want to sit down as much as possible. Oh, and to explain why I'll now need to take my 15 minute breaks and eat, when I've never needed to before. :)
As for what I'm up to this week, I need to just work on my house. My kitchen is close to presentable, but there are paw prints on TOP of my coffee table (the mutts know they are not allowed on it! :angry) and we are dangerously close to running out of clean underwear. :o

I've been stockpiling baby stuff the entire time we've been TTC...:love
Mostly just booties and cute onesies...a few sleepers I couldn't resist~~
Now that I actally have a real reason to buy stuff....LOOK OUT!!
Baby stuff is a true weakness for me!!
:bgbounce
Plus I have a new god-daughter due in the next few weeks as well as my own little one, so I really have an excuse!!!!
No BIG items yet other than my gorgeous new sling, but that is mostly because there is some construction going on in our house that may have us rearranging where all the bedrooms are before this little one arrives~~
I'd like to figure that all out before adding a bunch more "stuff" to the picture.
Plus what do we really NEED anyway?? Boobs, sling, diapers...oh a carseat...that's mostly it :D

i just got a notice from Amazon that my books have been mailed!!!! yeh! AND i scored Hybnobirthing off of paperbackswap.com. Im pysched about that!

My boobies are still soooo sore too. OMG. It does get better, I know.
Those stokke chairs are really neat looking. Pricey but neat. It's good to know that they're worth the money. I gave my old highchair to goodwill a few months ago. I know I'll buy a wooden one but not for at last another 18 months.
I can't think of much that I need now. I want a sheep skin for the baby and need an insert for my ergo. I'll need a new ring sling too but that's about it.

You guys, I had my first prenatal appointment this morning! It went so well - so much better than I could have hoped. I love my midwife! I love being able to say that! She answered all of my questions, and I liked all the answers.
I have to say it was so nice to finally be able to talk about being pregnant with live people, and have them say congratulations and just be nice about it. It felt that much more real. I can't wait to tell our families and friends!
So, I go back in 3 weeks, with Chris, and we'll have our first ultrasound and hopefully see the heartbeat. I'm really excited about that!
Now my focus is on keeping this m/s at bay and getting enough to eat. I need to get 90 g of protein a day, so I'll need to brainstorm a few good ideas. Katie was fine with me being vegan, but she was very insistent on me getting enough protein. I promised her I would do it, so now I have to follow through!

It made me break my resolve not to buy new carriers for my upcoming baby.
Last night I put my toddler in my ring sling and realized that it is wearing out. It had a couple of little holes in it. I pointed it out to my husband, and he said, "I guess you need to get a new one." I laughed and said, "Oh darn." He said, "Yea, I figured you'd be heartbroken." :lol
Oooooh. Maya sale. *drool*
DS's first birthday is on Thursday, which is also our first appointment with midwives. We may go visit family on the weekend to celebrate, but otherwise we'll just have a low-key day between the park and home after the appointment, since we don't do the whole sugar-loaded-cake thing. We also don't really have a playgroup around here, between not having a car and me being socially awkward. So...
I wrote to the midwife in TX I was talking to again and asked some follow-up questions, but haven't heard anything back yet. I know I should give her at least a full week, given that I can go days without looking at the computer myself, but it's still a wee bit sad. Of course, I'm also a hormonal wreck lately and am taking everything WAY too personally.
And my coffee smells foul. This is the saddest of all the sadnesses.

What?? What's wrong with midwifery in Texas?? *whimpers* This is NOT what I want to hear. I've only visited one birth center - one ran by a CNM and wasn't impressed, but have since found several online ran by CPMs and they seemed so much better. Am I not even going to like them?! :help
On a lighter note, maya wraps and ring slings scare me a bit. I'm not exactly the most coordinated of people. I've been looking a little at mei-teis, specifically a babyhawk. Specifically one with dark brown straps and blue/brown patterned fabric. Ok ok, I've been looking at them a lot. :o

If you're in the central to south region I probably know your midwife.Oh. Thanks. That makes me feel a little better - I'm up north, in Dallas. A midwife from the center I'm leaning towards (but haven't visited yet) sent me a very sweet email when I asked a few months ago what their charges are, and I've looked at the websites for both the center and all their midwives, and I get a good vibe off it. So here's to hoping! :fingersx:
I've been looking at Laurie Fremgen - I saw some lovely things about her in the TX tribal area. Christy with Motherbloom is another one I'm thinking of, but I really like the vibe I got from Laurie's email more.
I looked at the birth center in Austin (where we're moving), because the midwife there supposedly attends at home too, and went running when I saw something about the eye goop as part of the immediate neonatal care as a statement of what happens. Uhm. Big red flag for me.
Either way, I'm not birthing in a hospital for anything short of a true medical emergency. My hospital birth here was fantastic and hands off, but I know that's a one in a million shot. Thankfully, DH feels pretty much the same, and is almost a bigger advocate for my body than I am. :thumb

Oh yay! I don't know anyone in the midwifery scene up there. I do know that if there was an emergency, Harris Methodist/Cooks Childrens in Ft. Worth is AMAZING. My daughter was born there and spent many many months in the NICU there.
Needless to say, my experience with midwifery in Texas was not good and I'm a little colored and bitter about it. I've seen some horrifically bad calls made and frankly, I'm scared to death.
I trust my new midwife and I'm looking forward to a beautiful easy birth this time.
Dany- Kathryn (that's her username here) knows all about the MW scene in Austin and home birthed triplets there. She can tell you who to avoid first hand and can also probably recommend someone great.

I'm still having those twingy pinchy feelings. I'm trying to decide if I should call my MW or have an u/s or something. Hell. It's not like, pain pain or I'd know what to do yk?
I have little weird twinges too, sometimes pinchy feelings, and I get worried too. I don't know about you, but I feel so much more aware of my body making weird "pains" now that there's someone to worry about in there!
I'm so excited. I just went into TTC to stalk a few charts and found that we'll have some new mamas joining us!
Yay! How exciting! I know - we all found out so early, and there's still so much of October left for people to be due in. Did that even make sense? :lol

Oh yeah. The moms who would be due at the end of the month would be conceiving right about now and won't find out for about 2 weeks. :thumb

Is it just me.... Lately, I can eat about half as much and I feel soooo full. It's strange to have like, decreased capacity in there already. Strangely I'm still gaining a little. What the heck?

Question- Has anyone else had any twingy pain?
I have had twinges in the uterus (scared me a little). They were uncomfortable, but not painful, painful. I've also got round ligament pain going on - especially in the groin (and where I've had a previous hernia operation as a child) when I stand up. Otherwise, the m/s has been okay. I get nausea on and off throughout the day but no vomiting (knock on wood).
I'm trying to take garlic supplement, cranberry extract, drink tons of water, and have apple cider vinegar in some water - along with uping my probiotic for the GBS (group B Strep) in my urine. If it hasn't gone down by next Weds, I have to go on antibiotics:(
Otherwise - I had a big surprise in the mail. My sister-in-law sent me a pair of designer maternity jeans that fit me PERFECTLY!!! I'm sooo excited. I was just saying that I might splurge on a pair, and then I found them in the mail. I'm still smiling (and wearing them).

Question- Has anyone else had any twingy pain? I have been having little pinchy pains on and off today. I would guess on my right ovary? I know if could be corpus luteum but they've freaked me out about tublals and now I guess I'm just curious if it's just me.
I've been freaking about this. I've been getting very noticeable twingy/pinchy pains traveling up toward my lft ovary , well heck even up into my left hip. It happens sometimes on the other side but not with anywhere near the same frequency whcih is probably why it scares me! It always gets worse in the evenings. Was hoping you ladies might have answers for me. ;) It's been four years since I was pregnant, I dont really remember if this is normal or not!
Oh, and daily chitchat... how strange is it to say I'm not sure, we're possibly planning a wedding soon? :lol There's so much debate about doing it too quickly (that means a lot of each of our families probably won't be able to make it), whether his insurance will consider the pregnancy a pre-existing condition so how quickly do we have to do this (I'm currently uninsured - just moved back toward the end of Dec, start my new job in the morning - did I mention this wasn't planned? :lol ), etc etc....
What do you girls think - he's suggesting doing the legal paperwork now to get me on his insurance, then taking our time to plan the church ceremony. I don't like it because (1) I feel like we'll never get around to it and (2) I'd rather do a ceremony sooner than later, don't want to be either hugely pregnant or dripping/leaking/etc. Selfish, maybe. Blah. This would have all been handled already if my sister hadn't jumped in the middle of things with her plans. Ok, anyone notice that my hormones are jumping around a little? :bag:

Hmm... that pain sounds exactly like round ligament pain. Mine is a pinchy feeling at my right ovary.

LOL. I'm pretty sure I came home from The Business of Being Born and got pg that night. . .
No maternity clothes here yet, but I'm just going on 5 weeks. Since this is my 3rd, I'm sure it won't be long.

omg I am so lazy! All I did today was feed and bathe my kids. I did not lift a finger to clean a single thing and actually bribed my 8 year old to wash the dishes for me. :hide: I laid on the couch most of the day.

Thanks mama, that's good to know! :)
My "cold January" was the first full weekend DS spent with his other parent since I moved back. We're not used to um, available time all the time like that. :wink

Eeek! I wouldn't have attempted that. Luckily, I have one in school and one home... and he'll be in school too in a few years. :lol
Today was uneventful around here. Oh well that's not totally true. I redid my bathroom. I woke up and felt like I just HAD to. In my mind and dreams, it's my birth space. It was old and stale. :lol It looks wonderful and clean and serene.

That's why I really like longer child spacing. My middle child passed away so now our 2 have 5 years between them. And this baby will be 4 years younger than my "baby" now.

I actually felt pretty decent today, got up early to go to orientation for my new job, got a bunch of chores done, and did some major studying for a test next week. Nothing like an easy dinner of crock pot chicken, carrots, and rice to make my life a little easier, too... (dinner that I've managed 3 bites of, grr).

Hey there. I popped frozen fish stick in the oven tonight. actually, I preheated the oven, told DH that I needed a break (for MDC) and let him pop them in. How bad is that? I did have a friend and her two boys over. It was a madhouse here for about 2 hours, and now I feel queasy and worn-out.
Faerieshadow. I got pregnant with DS after dating DH for a short time. We got married at a courthouse, then a week later had a wedding with family, then did the insurance. It all worked out - go for low-stress stuff during pregnancy, though.

my dh and I got married when our ds was 8 months old. We talked about doing it right away... but dh though having a baby and a wedding all in one year was too much. :eyesroll anyway, it worked out fine... It was nice though because his work offered insurance for domestic partnerships so we didnt have to worry about that aspect of it. Weddings are stressful, even if you do the simplest one! We actually got married in our house, with a hired judge and our close frineds and family. We catered with bar-b-que. It was pretty cheap and fun and personal.

A big huge :yeah: to this.
Our wedding was small and personal as well, held at my FIL's house (they ran a bed and breakfast as well as message therapy), with BIL as a photographer, snack trays from Costco, dress and cake home made, a friend as the officiant, and I still almost lost it when it came time to walk down the 'aisle'.
I know that I tend to stress over little things though, so if you're one of those lucky people that can just roll with things... :thumb

Did you all do intros already? I'm celeste, pregnant with my first children. I'm so excited, and the growing babes already seem to be having quite an impact on my family. Everyone (my parents and siblings) seems to be "bonding" already, which is different than it's been with my other pregnancies that have ended with first tri losses. Anyway, I take it as a great sign. I got to see the two hearts, beating away on Thursday, and wow, it's also very transformative for me to see TWO there. The first ultrasound only showed one! :love
Anyway, it sounds like most of you are moms already? Anyone else on the weekly chat that's going to be a first-time mama?

Me! I'm pg with my first. It's also my very first pregnancy so I have no idea what to expect. I'm happy I've made it to 6 weeks! That's all I can say - AND that I'm really looking forward to seeing the heartbeat in 3 weeks. Congrats on expecting twins! I think there are a handful of others around here expecting their first as well - we are in the minority, but I think that's great b/c we can learn so much from all the seasoned mamas around here!

Welcome, Celeste! I can relate to it feeling weird to just jump in! I don't know anyone either, but the only way to get to know people it to jump right in, and post post post! Congrats on TWINS!! That must be excited and scary all at the same time! I still remember so much of my first pregnancy, it was so great, even with all of the MS, weight gain, and pains. It makes me teary eye to think about it, and to look at my toddler (when the heck did that happen???). So enjoy it! It'll be over before you know it!
