Does that seem right?? The girl who took my blood isn't the usual lab person, she's an OB nurse, and she was having to read the "normal" results off of some sheet...She said "normal" is 130, and mine was 137. Any thoughts or advice?

I also got 137 on my 1 hour! It's been a long time since I took the test but it was such a traumatic event for me that I totally burned that number into my brain.
Here's what I learned from my GD experience:
1. The 1 hour test is a screening test, which means it is very, some would say overly, sensitive. 75% of women who fail the 1 hour test will go on to pass the 3 hour test.
2. 137 is only marginally high, and then only by some standards. 130 is a conservative cutoff. Some providers use 140 as the cutoff, and there is a suggestion that for Asian women the cutoff should actually be set at 150.
3. Don't freak out or blame yourself for getting a high result. GD- if you have it- is governed by genetics. You don't give yourself GD by binging on Twinkies and Ben & Jerry's.
4. GD- if you have it- is usually easily managed with exercise and diet. It should not necessitate any unusual interventions during pregnancy or birth, especially when blood sugar is under good control.
Relax, stay happy, enjoy your pregnancy! More than likely you will pass the 3 hour test with flying colors.

Thanks SO much, Mommal...I've been freaking out all morning...feeling like it's my fault :( I ate SO much worse with my first DS than I have with this one...I also ate Tofu Lo Mein last night from PF Chang's, so I'm wondering if that might have had something to do with my marginally high reading (With 1st DS, my blood sugar was actually almost low).
Anyway, thanks again for the informative response...I really appreciate it!

My doc was happy if mine was under 140 at an hour. The GD test is so up in the air and depends on what your care provider is looking for. But yeah, even if the goal was 130 you're only a little over that.
