Hey guys, I realized we let this drop once February came, and I need to be held accountable. With my m/s already kicking in, food sucks right now so I'm going to try to post what I eat.

Today -

Multigrain cheerios w/soymilk - barely a 1/2 cup
Cocoa Pebbles w/soymilk
orange juice - not a good idea
8 saltine crackers with pizza sauce and veggie pepperoni
pregnancy tea
3 or 4 sour candies
Boca chick'n patty on a bun
some Panera Black Bean Soup (blech, didn't settle right)
pregnancy tea
chocolate soymilk
Cocoa pebbles w/soymilk (again...)

Blech. I had a terrible eating day. Boo.

Alright, guys, your turn! May you fare better than I...

At least you guys are giving me ideas of things to possibly eat.

Oh yeah,

Since my appetite been poor, I talked to my husband today about getting some of that hemp protein powder so I can boost my protein without having to eat too much more solid foods. :D

a medium fry from McDonalds :bag:

Today I had a sprouted wheat bagel for breakfast (sounds gross, but with gobs of butter is actually good). Cottege cheese and potato chips for lunch (I think organic potato chips shouldn't count as potato chips..:) ). For snack I had a cookie, cheese and a bottle of kombucha. I had a bit of roast beef for dinner, then a second dinner of scrambled eggs. Milk and water to drink in the day...not a bad day I guess. I did have another cookie a few minutes ago though. Not much in the way of calories... That's a big problem for me in pregnancy, I just don't want to eat! But at least I didn't feel sick, high ho for that!

Ok, I'll post what I ate yesterday.

Peppermint tea
Almonds
6 morningstar chicken strips (barely choked them down)
luna bar
honeydew
water
sour candies
saltines

and...

one FABULOUS baked potato, with margarine, garlic salt, and tofutti sour cream. It was like GOURMET.

My m/s seems to stop around 3:30 or 4. If I take a nap when I get home, it starts back up, but nowhere near as bad as it is in the morning. Today for some reason, I'm feeling ...okay. No signs today. For that I am THANKFUL.

DawnLasp
02-07-2008, 12:06 PM
This sucks, it's hard for me to eat. When I got home from work yesterday, I counted that I had only 30 grams of protein for the day. So, I made a protein shake, then had some pasta with kidney beans. I think that probably boosted me up to about 60 or so grams. Between the shake and the pasta with beans, I felt so gross afterwards like I had totally pigged out or something. I had indigestion for the rest of the night, and I had some acid reflux as I was going to bed. I need to find some better ways to get my protein intake to 80 grams/day without feeling like I ate too much. I want to incorporate a hard boiled egg each day, that would help a little. I just don't feel like eating, nothing appetites me, it sucks! I have some totally nutritious kale and red swiss chard in my fridge that I have not been in the mood to eat all week long. :bawl:gloomy::guilty:crap:crying

Baby_Cakes
02-07-2008, 03:38 PM
Dawn, I'm struggling with the protein too! Right now I'm struggling with EVERYTHING, but I guess I'm the most concerned about the protein.

I didn't have nausea today! :bgbounce

I did have a total aversion to food, but at least I didn't have the terrible, head to the desk, sucking on sour candy, awful awful nausea I've had for the past 3 days. It was nice to have a little break. :-)

Managed to eat a Boca chicken patty about 20 min ago, but I had to cut it into tiny pieces (and didn't quite finish the whole thing...) and I'm eating a Luna bar now. Add that to the fries I choked down earlier, and we're talking success for me, people! I'm ready for another baked potato for dinner, and maybe some beans or something protein-y on the side. We shall see.

02-07-2008, 05:11 PM
Today for me...

oatmeal & scrambled eggs, skim milk
brown rice & black beans w/ cheese, lettuce, tomato, 2 corn tortillas
handful of grapes
hot chocolate made with skim milk

That's it so far. I'm feeling hungry and need to go have a healthy snack, but what? Off to find something...

Ended up with a toasted whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and a glass of skim milk. I'm craving milk like crazy these days which is so unlike me.

Guys, I'm still misery personified. Yesterday I had a nice nausea free day, but today it's back (not as bad, but it's still there).

And I am in SUCH a foul mood. :angry

Sesame bagel - dry, picked at about 1/3 of it.
Sour candy - 1
Rice - white with some soy sauce. I ate about a forkful, gagged. Threw it out.
Saltines - 3
2 small orange slices
Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein drink - trying to drink this. It's got 19g of protein. I think I need it.

I decided to start the Best Odds Diet. I cannot, I refuse to gain 30 pounds, but of course I want my baby to get everything he/she needs. I started yesterday and did pretty good. Mainly the key is no refined sugars or grains. I had:

Steel cut oats w/ ground flax and raisins
Whole wheat bread and peanut butter
banana, apple, pineapple, strawberries
salad w/ yellow peppers, cucumber, carrots and tomatoes
black beans and wheat thins
2 eggs w/cheese on a sandwich

doesn't that seem like enough? I was pretty much eating like a junk food junkie. So maybe I'll actually lose a small amount of weight and then I can gain some back.

im doing the Brewers diet so really trying to keep the protein up but im still sooo sooo tired.

My ww bagel w/ peanut butter did NOT sit well yesterday afternoon. I now have a strong aversion to peanut butter which is just as well I guess. I've been pretty nauseous today and have no appetite. I could barely get down my oatmeal and eggs this morning and have only had 1 cup of milk so far today. I had more brown rice, beans, & cheese w/ lettuce & tomato and corn tortillas for lunch again today. That kind of hit the spot but then the nausea came right back a little while after I finished eating. I also had a protein bar this afternoon, and spaghetti, sauteed squash & spinach and ww garlic toast is planned for supper.

Well, I'm not yet 100% sure I belong here (waiting for a test to arrive in the mail, or maybe just waiting until eventually a baby is born, or not), but I figure I'll play along for now!

You have to keep in mind that we are doing SCD right now, and not tolerating a lot of foods. We are still early on so it's a lot of meat. I'm really, really missing variety in veggies too. I'm not sure what I'll end up doing about that.

Today:
2 small home-made sausage patties
1/2 avocado
home-made electrolyte drink (water, baking soda, sea salt, honey and a splash of organic grape juice)
steak
baked pears (just peeled pears cooked in a tiny bit of water)
Lots of spinach and some more sausage patties with different seasoning this time
lemon balm/rrl infusion
1/2 a banana
2 spoonfuls of coconut cream
lots of water

Tiger Lily
02-09-2008, 03:29 PM
Fresh fruit (especially grapefruit)
Fruit smoothies
Yogurt and frozen berries (if I put them together and stick in the fridge for half an hour the yogurt thickens, so the consistency is like frozen yogurt :thumb)
Eggs and toast
Salad with added protein--chicken, cheese, nuts, etc.

A little better today, but I still didn't get much food down. I did get up at around noon though.

Multigrain Cheerios w/soymilk & 1/2 a sliced banana
a few saltines
2 cups of chocolate soymilk
a handful of animal crackers
Optimum Slim organic cereal w/soymilk
a few bites of the BEST pickle I've ever eaten :Bow

Going to have grilled "cheese" and tomato soup for dinner.

More home-made sausages, this time with a little honey and different spices. I'm glad DH is shopping tomorrow, I'm really sick of these!

lots of green beans with a lemony sauce

1.5 bananas over the course of the day

2 cups of mint tea

grape "jello" (gelatin and organic grape juice)

A little bit of steak

A lot a bit of watercress :eat: tasted really, really good to me today!

carrots roasted in coconut oil with sea salt- also really yummy

just over a qt of lemon balm and RRL infusion

a couple spoonfuls of coconut cream

Cod liver oil

water

Today so far I've had:

eggs & whole wheat pancakes, 16oz skim milk
stuffed bell pepper - yum!
fresh organic spinach w/ lemon juice

For supper we're having:

baked chicken breast, broccoli, homemade whole wheat bread

Snacks:

yogurt
all bran crackers

orange
walnuts

Plus about a gallon of water & a cup of rrl tea

All that gets me close to 100gms protein for the day.:)

Right now, since I haven't hit the m/s stage, I'm eating my normal diet. I have about 2000 cals a day since I burn about 3000 (1950 basal, 900 from working out). I eat every 2-3 hours and foods include Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal, yogurt fruit smoothies, Kashi protein bars, tortillas with melted cheese, lots of milk, Healthy Choice Panini's, and then a salad and a main dish for dinner. I normally have a bowl of ice cream too because I refuse to give up ice cream! It's my fave food.

I'm having a difficult time with the limitations of pregnancy eating though. When I eat steak, I eat it medium-rare to medium and I eat a lot of seafood so I can get my protein w/o having to eat a lot of other meat (not a huge fan of meat). I can't have either of these things!! I'm not a fan of chicken, pork, or turkey so this is really difficult for me. I get most of my protein from dairy products or Kashi products and I know it's not enough.

I figure if I have m/s, I'll just eat whatever I can keep down and not worry about what it is. I've been talking to my Doula about ways to keep m/s at bay too.

These past two days have been okay. I find that when I do get hungry, I still have to eat slowly and see how I feel after and while I'm eating. No nausea doesn't mean I'm home free!

Yesterday was a good day. I had cereal for breakfast, some chocolate soymilk, soup for lunch, and I went to the gym. So that was good. I went out to dinner with my best friend and had a few bites of a portabello mushroom sandwich, so that was awesome. I was able to eat!

Today has been eh. I was okay this morning, but then got really repulsed by food so I had:

Saltines
banana
animal crackers - BAD IDEA. These are just too sweet.
Yves veggie turkey on rye with mustard - didn't settle right, but I ate it.
cantaloupe

I felt really sick after lunch. Like, I was pretty close to letting it come up, but I held it down.

All I wanted after that was frosting. You know, like Duncan Hines chocolate frosting from the can? So...I've had about 4 spoonfuls of the stuff. I give up!

Baby_Cakes
02-12-2008, 05:56 PM
How come I'm the only one posting my crappy food intake? C'mon girls!

Peppermint tea
Saltines
Morningstar "chicken" strips (23 g protein! Woo Hoo!)
2 oranges
Mike & Ikes :(
bbq pringles (boo)
2 homemade cupcakes - delicious!

Not sure about dinner. Will have to be something nutritious after the disaster that was today! :lol

DawnLasp

My poor appetite and indigestion has turned into nausea! I haven't barfed yet, thank god! It's hard enough for me to eat anything at all now, and I would probably cry over the toilet bowl :bawl if I barfed up all my hard work. :inthet I can only eat easily digestible foods, and I have aversions to everything else.

Here's what I've eaten today so far:

cookies & cream protein shake for breakfast
carrots :carrot
2 celery stalks (really helped with my nausea!)
2 cinnamon graham crackers
apple
banana :banana
2 handfuls of raw organic non-salted almonds
yogurt
water
green tea
raspberry leaf tea

now, I'm actually craving a turkey burger! I was in a meeting at work, and the conference door was open, and I heard someone say "mmm, turkey burger", and I've wanted one ever since! That was like 2 hours ago, and guess what I'll be eating for dinner! :eat: Thank god I heard those words because I have aversions to all other meats and fishes right now, and I desperately need the protein...

I want to add here because I am so grateful that i can still eat pretty normally, though I felt so bad today that i don't know how long I'll be able to keep it up:

bf: eggs and toast
snack: tahini and honey sandwich
lunch: some salad, broccoli, baked sweet potato and a few bites of chicken
snack: lots of brown rice crackers
dinner: chicken thigh and a sweet potato.
snack: pear
snack: peanut butter and honey on toast

i am craving CARBS and more CARBS. and fruit. not so much protein or veggies :(

I've got to get rid of the huge slab of chocolate birthday cake we have sitting around here. I've only managed to eat one slice/day which is unusual for me (usually I'd be picking at it all day), but I don't want to even be eating that much!

So far today:

BF: a nectarine and an oz of almonds
Lunch: 1/2 Chipotle chicken burrito bol with guac.
Snack: chocolate cake and a glass of 2% milk

Now I'm sort of queasy. I think I'll wait and have dinner after yoga. I'm thirsty more than anything, even though I'm drinking water all day.

i'm really wanting salmon for the last several days. today i had salmon salad AND lox (sort of like salt-cured salmon). yesterday i had sushi with brown rice, avocado and salmon.

do you think eating so much salmon is bad? i think the fatty acids would be good but i'm not sure about the mercury content. what do you guys think?

(ps--if it's really awful don't tell me because i already ate it)

eta: mmmm....all this talk about salmon makes me really want some right now!!!

Tiger Lily

B- oatmeal & 2 eggs + skim milk
L- raw organic spinach w/ fresh lemon juice & homemade chicken noodle soup

I just got back from a visit to my naturopath and here's what he recommended to combat m/s:

eat a PROTEIN snack EVERY HOUR. yes, EVERY HOUR!!
give up all white carbs and simple sugars and limit fruits.
eat plenty of whole grains and veggies.
resist the urge to eat carbs/fruit/junk for snacks instead of protein.

I am going to try this because i feel like m/s is taking me over. He claims that in 3 days it should be pretty much all gone. I already had 2 snacks in the last 2 hours (string cheese then cheese and crackers) and I really am feeling better. :eat: This is going to be so hard at work! I think i will bake or fry up a block of tofu to snack on all day.

Farmerjess, I didn't realize it but that's what I was doing and my m/s is much better than it was last week. Although at times all I want is saltines, if I force myself to eat protein it does actually work. Don't forget about nuts - see if you can get some almonds to keep at work.

Today was a nausea free day! Woo hoo!

Orange
Chunky Savory Vegetable soup w/ crackers
a few pieces of a chocolate bar (so good)

The Brewer Diet is what is recommended by most midwives. The website is listed in my thread "Websites recommended by my Doula." It looks like a great nutrition plan! There's even a checklist of foods to mark off everyday that you can print.

The Brewer Diet is the one I've been following. I printed off a bunch of the checklists, and it definitely helps to track things.

So far today I've had...

B - Scrambled eggs, oatmeal, skim milk

L- Beans, brown rice, cornbread w/ butter, spinach salad w/ lemon juice, skim milk

Snacks - not sure what these will be just yet...

Supper- B-que Chicken Breasts on the grill, sauteed squash, steamed broccoli, homemade whole wheat bread, skim milk

I'm so looking forward to supper. I'm actually craving the veggies.

And I think this is right up my alley! I've got a diet diary pinned to my fridge that I'm writing everything down on, but this would be one more motivation to make sure I'm eating well. So I'm reviving this thread! :)

So far today I've eaten:

2 fried eggs on bagel w/an orange and licorice tea for breakfast
plain Greek yogurt w/cucumber, sunflower seeds, and Omega 369 oil on crackers for lunch
pistachios & glass of milk as a snack
tons of water!

and I need to decide what I'm having for dinner!

Sometimes I can force it down, but most of the time, it's like - I can feel my throat just closing up and my stomach saying "No!" and churning. I haven't actually thrown up yet, I think mostly b/c I listen to my stomach when that happens, LOL.

It's better than it was. But I still can't open my fridge. The smells in there are enough to make me run from the room! DH says its just a mild garlic smell, though - it's this superhuman nose, I tell you!

Hmm I like this being held accountable for what I eat:

Breakfast: omelette made for me by the sweetie with eggs, tomatoe, mushrooms, cheese, and onion. Scoop of rice with butter.

Lunch: Beans and rice, Jamaican style (my fav bean recipe), salad, avacado slices.

Supper: Huge salad w/ diced cucumber, carrot, red pepper, green onion, cheese, and sunflower seeds. Salad tossed with olive oil and white wne vinegar. A bowl of minestrone soup (made with rice noodles) garnished with cheese.

Snack: Milk about 20oz now and hoping to finish off 12 more oz here soon. Try to drink this during the day but forgot about it. Drink 32oz a day.

Treat: Milk Way (guilty as charged)

I need to work on getting in higher protein snacks. I'm having huge bouts of nausea but no vomiting and still able to eat at meals.

Toast with margarine and jam
cup of soymilk

pregancy tea w/agave nectar
sour patch kids - like, half a bag, yikes
mashed potatoes and gravy
bolthouse farms perfectly protein drink

Going to make crunchy tacos tonight. I need to eat something and this is the only thing appealing to me. Well, that and fried rice -- but I don't feel like ordering a buttload of chinese and having it stink up my house!

Breakfast: omelette made by my sweetie w/ ham, cheese, onion, mushrooms, tomato (I get spoiled on the weekends), 1 slice of rice/almond bread spread with butter.

Snack: 16oz (whole) milk

Lunch: Baked potato w/ bacon, butter, salt, sour cream, cheese. I couldn't eat the salad so...

Snack: side salad w/ sunflower seeds, green onions, red pepper, cheese - over romaine lettuce.

Supper: Mexican soup, taco salad made w/ corn tortilla chips, refried beans, seasoned ground beef, black olives, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Also had a side salad. Couldn't quite finish the taco salad so I may eat the rest of that and have a glass of milk as a before bed snack.

Knowing I was going to post here made me resist another milky way :lol I got four for Valentine's day so I'll space them out :lol

And just a note, our meals are always gluten free unless I'm craving a sub for myself or something, because DP has celiac and can't tolerate wheat/gluten.

Bananas, strawberries, and pineapple work great for me. I just throw them in the blender with some soymilk and maybe protein powder and/or water for consistency.

Breakfast: Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal (1 pkg)
Lunch: I'll have leftover meatloaf and rice pilaf (ate all the peas last night with dinner)
Dinner: Plans are roast, with onion, carrots and mashed potatoes
I might snack on a few grapes when I get home.

I'll also probably splurge and eat either a browine or a couple girl scout cookies before bed.

Well, I thought I was eating a lot this weekend, but this doesn't seem like much... and I'm not sure I ate more than usual. I'll have to try and remember what I ate this weekend and write it down.

Hmmm, when I made smoothies while trying to get some calories in, I would put a teaspoon on Coconut Oil in. Gave it a really good flavor/texture too. Also, just some really good fruits that you like, either fresh frozen, or buy fresh and freeze yourself, add some juice, water, whatever liquid you like and blend. They might also have smoothie powder. Im not sure where would sell that but it gives it an awesome flavor. I LOVED the ones I got at Whole Foods in California. There is no such thing in San Angelo, TX... :(

I use a 6-8oz container of yogurt, a whole banana and about a 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries, about a 1/4c of milk and then fill blender with ice. Blend and enjoy. It makes 2 servings worth for me. Very yummy and thick enough to give you something to chew but thin enough you could get it through a straw. :)

I got a ton of fruit and cut a lot of it up in teeny pieces and froze it all. I figured that way I can just take when I need from a baggie instead of cutting it all up at 7 am. I got yogurt and milk too. I wondered about frozen yogurt. That sounds yummier to me albeit not as healthy. I also got honey and liquid chlorophyll to add to it. I'm going to give raw egg yolks a shot since they're a whole food protein unlike powders.

We had rotisserie chicken breast (skinless) with avocado and tomato in flour tortillas for lunch. Thank the gods, for now the nausea is gone.

large glass of chocolate soymilk
2 mini bagels with herbs & chives Better Than Cream Cheese
1/2 bean burrito
few tortilla chips

Today I've had:

oatmeal, 2c milk
2 eggs, 1 with yolk, 1 w/o, 2 pieces whole grain bread, and 2 slices of cheese....egg sandwich. I really enjoyed it! Yum. I haven't had one in forever.
TONS of water of course!

I've found that I won't need to eat as much as the Brewer diet suggests because the labels on my food show the serving sizes to have WAY more protein that what they guesstimate. :) That's good because I just can't eat that much!

I tried the brewer diet... it's hard to manage and I've known people who gained a TON on it. I can't fathom that happening with you but it is a lot of food to put away. I'm trying to just pay attention to how much protein I eat and later on, I'll be more careful to get more if I'm not getting enough.

TaraRae82

^It seems to be pretty close to what I'm already eating so I'm not worried about gaining crazy weight, especially since I'm teaching 10-12 classes a week right now. But, thanks for sharing the weight concern. I didn't really even think about it. My Doula just said this is the diet that most mw's recommend so I thought it'd be awesome. Like I said, I won't have to eat as much as it says since my labels are showing a lot more protein in a serving than what the diet guesstimates. Thank goodness! I wonder if others have gained lots of weight because they assumed they knew how large a serving size was (most people way underestimate) and they were wrong or the diet incorrectly guessed the amount of protein so they ate more than necessary?

Changed
02-18-2008, 03:46 PM
Well, if you think about it it's very hard to get that much protein without a pretty good amount of fat also. Working out 12 times a week, I would imagine whatever you gain is what your baby and body truly NEED. I was a SAHM and not exercising at all when I was doing it. I didn't really stick with it, I modified it because it was hard and too much food. A lot that I didn't like.

You're really lucky to be starting out with such a healthy lifestyle. I bet your birth will be easy peasy. :)

Lets see, yesterday was an odd day because we overslept in the morning and then I was feeling incredibly nauseous at supper time. And I didn't end up getting in my 2 eggs at all :(

Breakfast: Peanut butter spread on rice/almond bread slices (2), banana

Snack: 16oz milk

Lunch: Homemade spaghetti sauce w/ ground turkey over rice noodles. Steamed okra w/ butter.

Snack: 8oz milk and my leftover taco salad and mexican soup from night before.

Supper: Guilty as charged!! Box of Annie's mac and cheese b/c I couldn't stomach the thought of eating at supper so DP fried ham for the kids and himself. I ate the mac and cheese later.

Later snack: 8oz milk.

Then after eating that mac and cheese I felt fine and was able to chop and bag all my veggies for the week and thin slice six raw chicken breasts and marinate for me + DP, the kids, a friend, and her daughter to have a sesame chicken lunch today....go figure....I don't get why my nausea is ALWAYS worse around supper time. It was like this with the boys too, I've never had "morning" sickness in my last two (now three it appears) pregnancies...

I sort of fell off the Brewer diet wagon over the weekend, in the evenings anyway. My nausea has been SUPER bad in the evenings, and 4 nights in a row now I caved and just ate what sounded good for supper(chinese, burgers & fries, pizza, and hot dogs). Yes, all super unhealthy and fattening choices, but they tasted so good at the time that I didn't even care. At least I didn't pig-out on any of it. I think my dh and kids are loving my spur of the moment cravings, because they love eating out, lol. It's been kind of like a vacation for them. The bad part is that I'm feeling bloated now as a result of my bad eating in the evenings the last few days. I also didn't exercise for the last few days either, so I'm sure that's part of it too. Can't wait till this nausea goes away!!

I'm trying to do better today with eating and will try to get in a walk later. All in all I think the Brewer diet and exercise will work good for me if I can just stick with it. If it weren't for the nausea, it's really a pretty easy diet for me to follow. I'm typically not a picky eater and love most all veggies, including green leafy ones, so that helps. I get most of my protein from chicken, fish, beans, and occasionally lean beef, so I haven't found it an overly fattening diet to follow. I drink skim milk and shy away from cheese and nuts/nut butters that are more fatty. So far, my weight gain is only 1 1/2lbs, so something must be working. Typically I would've already gained 5-10lbs by this point.

Going out on a limb here, but does anyone know or have the fortified soymilk recipe from the Brewer diet? Blueribbonbaby is down and I just wanted to know what it is.

I did okay with eating today. 2 mini bagels, about 1/2 a tofutti pizza, some coca cola (I know, but major craving) and about 3/4 lb cut up cantaloupe. Not bad, not bad. I'll probably have peppermint tea in a bit. Oh, and I did have a cup of decaf coffee this morning.

Ok, so far so good.

Yesterday I did end up eating a few (very few) Doritos. Those Smokin Cheddar BBQ are good! Anyway, I also ate a brownie. I think those are gone now. Thank goodness!

Anyway, today to far I've had:

Breakfast: 1 pkg Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Snack: One piece of chocolate (dark chocolate, like a Hershey square size, but not Hershey)

Lunch: Leftover roast beef, mashed potatoes and cooked carrots. There was some gravy on the potatoes.

So far I've had 5 1/2 glasses of water. Hopefully I'll hit eight by the time I leave work.

Dinner I plan to eat either tacos or breakfast (as in totally unhealthy pancakes and sausage. LOL.)

Maybe a couple girl scout cookies as a before bed snack. I'll try to skip those though.

Who came up with calling it morning sickness? Mine is 3-8pm sickness.

I feel like writing up what I ate today (I eat A LOT!!):

7 am: 2 TB cottage cheese, handful of dried cereal
8 am: bowl of grits, soy milk shake with protein powder
10:00: 1 pear
10:15-12:00: peanut butter and honey sammich, very slowly
2:00: 1/2 cup yogurt, cheese and crackers, carrot sticks
5:00: cheese and tortilla
6:30: so nauseous, cup of ginger lemon tea

Ok, jumping on here!

I have had VERY intense nausea and vomiting, I weighed less to start with this baby than I did after my daughter's birth, then I lost 10 lbs my first visit from Dec to Jan and I have another visit tomorrow where I am sure I will have lost another 10lbs at least..

My protein is BAD and now my cravings are HORRIBLE! This week was terrible, so I won't get into that..lol

Anyways, I am doing the sneaky chef right now and spent a couple of hours today(trying not to puke while smelling the veggies being pureed..ick) and am hoping that I can incorporate the veggie purees into the food I can stand, thus improving the health value.

I honestly can't remember what all I ate today, so I will start documenting tomorrow..but I did make a lasagna for DH today and it smelled good, I just had like one bite and couldn't do it anymore, so I had a bagel and cream cheese...mostly carbs for me have been the only thing I can keep down, so lots of bagels and lots and LOTS of yogurt Cheerios!

Tomorrow we have the M/W appt, so I will report back on what I gained or lost and I will try like heck to keep track of what I eat!!!

Maybe thinking about it and writing it down will force me to try harder to eat stuff that is good for me(when the only thing I can think of is cheese balls! LOL) and instead opt for a yogurt or cheese stick or something!

Yesterday started off strong, but headed to the less-than-healthy

Breakfast was a three egg scramble with spinach

Second breakfast was toast with cheese and a scoop of orzo salad

Elevensies was supposed to be a handful of almonds, but I was really hungry and at the library so I went to Appleby's (the only place w/i walking distance beside fast food) for a chicken sandwich and tomato soup.

Then we had to go to the mall to get my computer fixed so we decided to eat there. I was still full from my earlier meal so I hate a huge salad (w/candied almonds and pears) and had a slice of my partner's pizza.

I also didn't drink much water, I still had at least 48 oz but I've been aiming for more.

And today I woke up and just felt overwhelmed by the amount of protein I should be eating. Ugh.

Baby_Cakes

I'm overwhelmed with the protein I should be eating too. Note how I said should be - b/c it hasn't happened yet. I swear, one day, when I have my appetite back, I will make it to 90 g of protein per day, but for now, with this stomach I'm going to get what I get. I was reading that while the baby does need protein and carbs, that it isn't as crucial just yet to get them all in. I'm just working on doing my best, which is coming out to be 40-70 g per day.

Today I'm starting out with my steel cut oats w/banana and agave nectar, and some rye toast with earth balance. We shall see how the rest of the day goes!

Good eats, everyone!
To all of you who can't eat or who are sick, feel better, mamas! You're in my thoughts!

For all of us trying to get a bit more protein into our diets...don't forget quinoa!!!!

I made a batch of it the other night and served it with a tomato/tofu stirfry type arrangement on top. It was so yummy! And it was truly satisfying as well.

Last week I made the chickpea quinoa pilaf from Veganomicon (and added peas) and I think I am going to make a similar recipe that uses black beans this weekend.

Cooked is fine. :)

The deli meat thing came from my doula and her nutrition training with a CPM.

I think it should all be taken with a grain of salt. I think places like Subway just aren't a good idea to eat deli meat since the meat sits out, refrigerated in a very half-a$$ed fashion. I think it all depends on the quality of the meat, just like with eating undercooked steak.

Well, yesterday turned out not to be the greatest day for me. I had the raisin bran for breakfast; leftover Roast beef, mashed poatoed and carrots for lunch; then for dinner I had the nastiest Hambuger Helper ever! I forced myself to eat a little, but couldn't do much. It smelled like ham & cheese, but there was no ham to be found. Ew. Anyway, I gave in and also ate a handfull of semi-sweet chocolate chips before dinner. Then after dinner I had 1/2 a kit-kat. Darn chocolate!

Today has been alright so far.

Breakfast- 1 pkg Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
Lunch- 1 1/2 leftover blueberry pankackes and 3 sausage links (3!)

So far, 6 glasses of water (48 oz.)

For me yesterday was:

Breakfast: Bacon, 2 eggs, and a bowl of oatmeal w/ butter, peaches, spoonful of yogurt and a drizzle of honey. I couldn't finish all the oatmeal.

Snack: 16oz milk

Lunch: turkey burgers and honey baked lentils, salad

Snack: 8oz milk

Supper: Was supposed to be roast chicken but my stomach turned and the thought of touching a chicken was threatening my ability to keep from vomiting. So instead we had alfredo sauce over rice noodles, because I can always stomach making alfredo lol. And salad.

Late snack: 8oz milk.

Going to try and do better nutrition wise today, I love alfredo sauce but since I didn't use home made cream cheese it wasn't as healthy as it could have been.

We went out to lunch with DH's grandma at a buffet style restaurant. I had a couple small pieces of fried fish, a small helping of mac n cheese (not very good), a cinnamon roll, and 2 glasses of milk. Since we'll be at a concert tonight, out of town, we'll eat there. Oooh, today has been an AWFUL eating day. I had some cereal for breakfast, which was pretty good - then the m/s hit and I was bound to the couch for the remainder of the day in a pissy mood. I must have had at least half a bag of sour patch kids (the only thing I can eat lately), some chocolate frosting from the can, a banana (ooh, healthy, lol) and 4 or 5 pieces of veggie bacon that I FORCED myself to eat for protein.

I've had this relentless craving for a sausage biscuit after watching Supernatural the other night, (don't ask), and since I'm vegan it's not like I can just run out and get one. I've been pining to get some Gimme Lean (fake vegan sausage) and Bisquick so I can make up this delicious concoction. I just ran out to the food store all by myself to get it (yes it is almost 10 at night) and I was so pissed b/c they were out of stock of the sausage! I could have cried! There was even a spot for it but there were none in stock. :bawl

My appetite is so unpredictable these days. I usually can eat pretty healthy early in the day, but once afternoon gets here it all goes south. I just nibble on whatever sounds good while the nausea is in full swing. Sometimes it's healthy stuff I crave, but sometimes I give in to unhealthy cravings. I'll feel a little bad about it the next day, but at the time I could care less. It's all about what will stay down at the moment. Oh well.. I know this awful nausea will pass soon. I think I'm about 9wks now, and this is usually when the yucky phase peaks for me. Typically it starts gradually decreasing around 11-12wks and is completely gone by about 16wks. So, I'm hoping just a few more weeks of the yuckies.

So far today I've had...

Breakfast-
2 poptarts(I know bad, but they sounded so good and we're out of oatmeal!)
2 fried eggs

A couple bites of biscuits and gravy which tasted awful so I couldn't eat it after it sounded so good.

Ugh, today has not been good. I've had

1 homemade cinnamon roll (made during my anxiety-induced baking frenzy yesterday)

Approximately 2 oz of sharp cheddar cheese and a handful of Multi-Grain Wheat Thins

A cup or so of chocolate milk

I think I'm going to make some homemade mac-n-cheese for dinner tonight. It sounds so good.

I may also throw a batch of black beans in the pressure cooker. A friend of mine went on a mission to Guatemala and taught me how to make black beans and rice and it sounds really yummy right now--and I could use the protein desperately.

lunch- WW smart ones fettuchini alfredo and added an extra cup or more of broccoli
snack- one hundred calorie pack
dinner- home made chicken stew with tons of veggies (ccoling right now!)

Mmmm, there is Mandarin Gourmet (which is TECHNICALLY in Pacific Grove) and Full Moon Mandarin Cuisine. DH and I ALWAYS ordered out of Mandarin Gourmet (before we were married and still living on base at DLI) and anytime ppl would come visit us we would go to Full Moon. Ooooh, the Honey Walnut Prawns are THE BEST at both places. Im drooling thinking of em lol.

Last night for dinner, I had a baked potato - and it gave me the most horrible stomachache. Like, crampy intestinal gas that wouldn't let up. Also made me really nauseous. I felt sick all night, tossing and turning. Sucked. :(

This morning, so far, just a cup of peppermint tea. The nausea, oh, the nausea...

I've always found that peppermint tea on an empty stomach was about the worst thing I could possibly do to myself. With my first pg, I ended up leaving work early one day because I'd puked 4 or 5 times after doing that.

Does anyone else just get really random cravings? I was laying in bed half-asleep last night, NOT hungry at all, and I suddenly wanted a baked potato with a ton of butter and salt. This morning it doesn't even sound good anymore! LOL.

Ooooh, making this tonight (hoping that it will still sound good by then) and here is the recipe. I remember a few ppl saying they wanted pizza but not so much all the grossness. Here is a suggestion/recipe that I LOVE and can only get when I go back to Pennsylvania!

Pierogi Pizza

Pizza Crust
2 c mashed potatoes
1 cup cheese (your choice on kind)
Extra cup cheese (again, whatever you like)
1 medium onion, diced
Butter (or margerine, or whatever you use) for sauteeing

Sautee onion in butter. Mix mashed potatoes, onions, and 1 cup cheese (I like cheddar to mix in) Spread mix on top of pizza crust. Top with additional cup of cheese (I like mozerrela for this part) and bake for whatever pizza crust recommends.

Hope someone out there will enjoy this too :)

Well, I haven't posted here in a few days and my eating has been horrible!! I can't even bring myself to type it up its been that bad.

But today I seem better and back on track...

Breakfast: Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal (1 pkg)
Lunch: Newks Deli- a cup (more like a bowl) of Broccoli Cheese Soup & 1/2 a grilled chicken sandwich. I wasn't very hungry but it tasted good, so I ate the whole bowl of soup and almost the whole sandwich (whole 1/2 a sandwich I should say. LOL.)

Thats been it so far. Hopefully I can manage to keep away from the junk food and get back on track with healthy eating.

Ugh, I decided to have Chinese for lunch. Wasn't such a hot idea after all. I mean, it tasted good and I ate it, but now I feel really...salty. :D

Isn't it strange how what works for one person doesn't work for others? Like with the peppermint tea, I mean? Guess that's just part of life, lol.

Other than that, just sipping my icy cold Pepsi wishing it were a Coca-Cola, lol.

I've been living on mac n cheese and milk. Not exactly an ideal diet but at least it's calories and I'm not throwing up. I've been assured that since the LO is still so tiny, my diet isn't AS important yet. I was really worried but I guess plenty of people can't eat at all because they throw up so I'm not in that bad of a situation. DH made chicken nuggets and fries last night for himself and I of course didn't want to eat. He made enough fries for me and it really hit the spot. He's so good....he totally knows me. :D

Yesterday I was pretty good. Bacon and egg taco for breakfast with orange juice. Caprese salad for lunch. My version of shrimp stir fry for dinner (Green Giant microwave veggies, 365 Organic microwave brown rice, sauted shrimp - takes 10 minutes to make). I'm craving fruits and veggies like crazy, I can't get enough.

Today, not so good. I feel really icky and have eaten whatever didn't sound like it'd make me sick. Pop-tart for breakfast. A bag of Sun-Chips for lunch. Grapes for a snack. I'm not sure I can stomach dinner.

I've been snacking on honey nut cheerios all day. I ate so many cans of chicken noodle soup this week that I think I am finally sick of eating it for a while. :(

Dinner was power pizza

Tater tots for dinner. Blah. I might have to make something else, b/c I'm actually quite hungry -- but nothing we have in the house is appealing. DH is rockclimbing tonight, so I'm fending for myself. Just don't really feel up to running out tonight...boo. :(

I've had such a hard time eating healthy this week, because I keep craving unhealthy things(sugar, refined flour things, fast food, occasional soda that I tried so hard to stay away from). I feel kind of bad, but then I'm also glad I'm not throwing up. I figure it's better to eat something that I know will stay down even if it's not the healthiest, than try to force something healthy down that sounds repulisve. I'm normally a veggie lover, but I can barely stand the thought of any of them right now.

Today I had...

Breakfast - 1 scrambled egg, toast(white bread) with butter and jelly, skim milk

Lunch - Homemade chicken noodle soup, banana

Snack - toast(white bread again) with butter and jelly - this really, really hit the spot even if it is empty calories

Supper - Ham, scalloped potatoes, corn
swiss cake roll for desert:o

I made the mistake of having a big cup of hot tea with sugar. It tasted great going down, but then I was super jittery and icky feeling afterwards probably from the caffeine. Won't do that again!

I have been craving a egg, cream cheese, with fresh basil, breakfast bagel...i might have to get one of those.

I've been doing pretty well. But definitely lacking in the veggies department. I usually love them and make them often with dinner, but by the time I get home from work, I just want to pop a frozen pizza in the oven or not eat.

But during the day - watch out! I can eat everything - especially if it's meat. I think I've had more red meat in the past 3 weeks than I usually have in 2 months. I'm just listening to the cravings and giving in.

Also, I find that I have to eat again around 4 or 5, which is a little awkward at work since my boss keeps asking why I am eating a snack at 5.

Today so far, tea w/milk, a CLIF bar, a salad.

I need more. I think I am going to make myself a chicken salad sandwich or some toast with cheese.

For dinner I am cooking the chickpea quinoa pilaf from veganomicon.

I will also probably have some nuts and/or carrots for a snack.

^ Curse the potato wedges! Feel better!

I got Taco Bell for lunch. Those bastards put cheese on my tacos, but I mananged to pick it all off! They were pretty good -- I've been feeling good today. Only a tiny bit of nausea in the am, but overall I've been full of energy and feeling good.

I've been craving Taco Bell (and various other greasy bean burritos, LOL) like a crazy person. I had to explain to the person who took my order 3 times that I did not want any cheese or sour cream on my burrito. She kept asking me if I was sure I didn't want any. :dizzy:

We actually managed to go out last night for dinner...to a Mexican restaurant. I am so happy that what I have a taste for and can actually keep down has a good amount of protein in it!:thumb

I had a brownie and a scoop of coffee ice cream for breakfast.

And as evidence of my lack of appetite, I wasnt' even remotely tempted for more than that.

I will be eating super healthy for the rest of the day. I think for lunch I am going to have leftover chickpea quinoa pilaf and some carrots.
