View Full Version : Sleeping bra suggestions?

My breasts are large. They always have been. Now I'm pregnant, and they have gotten too heavy and tender for me to comfortably go without a bra, ever. So now I wear a bra even when I sleep. I have tried sports bras but the ones in my size tend to be a little too binding (since they're meant to keep everything from bouncing around, and all). I am hoping to find a bra that will give me enough support to alleviate the pain, but still feel comfortable. Anyone else dealt with this? Should I just go ahead and get a nursing bra, even though it will probably be too small to use when I actually am nursing? (I am 3 months along right now).

If you tried a Bravado bra, it might be good for both now and nursing...they have a lot of range in terms of what they will accommodate. I find them comfortable enough to wear at night, but I don't find they give great shape fashion-wise, so I kinda quiet wearing mine after the first few months postpartum. BUt they are still great for lounging around the house.

The other thing I used alot postpartum (and still now) was tank tops with shelf bras. I am fairly large-boobed and I find those great for nighttime - the support is pretty light but it kinda holds my boobs in place enough that they aren't bothersome. They are also great for nursing (around the house - they certainly don't provide enough support for being out and about, at least not for me!)

i like the sleep bras from motherhood maternity cause they're cheap and just enough to give me a little support while sleeping without feeling binding. the elastic does wear out rather fast though. the ones from mimi maternity are a bit more sturdy looking, but i haven't tried them. they're a little pricier too, but they might hold up longer or give better support. (fwiw i'm a 32D maybe bigger now, and the cheap one is enough support for sleep.)

I got myself a nursing bras from motherhood and they are so comfortable. I only got one, a cotton material. The fit perfectly and I can adjust them if my breast get a little bigger. I will wait until the end of my pregnancy to buy two more pairs, probably in a bigger size. I'm 24 weeks and they haven't gotten any bigger. I bought the bras at my 1st trimester when my breast got bigger and were tender. They are the same size but I'm sure they will get bigger when I give birth..

When I'm pregnant, I like undershirts. I just use those little spaghetti straps with built in bras that they sell for pajamas or workout shirts. They're really light and you can wear them with a wide range of boob sizes! :thumb They are also much cheaper than a nice nursing bra that you might outgrow before your milk really comes in. I think they're more comfy than a bra but that's just my humble opinion. :)

Order a bra with LINED LYCRA ® or LINED DRI-RELEASE®. It offers great, yet comfortable, support

I just ran into this porblem as well. I went looking everywhere, and had a hard time finding anything comfy enough to sleep in. I finally found some crossover bras at Sears that were really comfortable. Plus, they were on sale for only $8 each! Matter of fact, since I still haven't found a "normal" bra that fits me, I've even been wearing these during the day under large shirts. :)

I have these (http://www.motherwear.com/prod.cfm/cid/50/sid/6138) and like them. And they are not too expensive. They worked well in the early months of nursing too when nursing pads were a necessity. The pads were easy to get in and out.

I bought a sports bra that has a cup to it rather than just the tight uniboob kind. BUT I bought it about 2 sizes bigger so it would be supportive but not tight. When I bought it I was a 34C. I bought a 38D and put it in the tightest closure (it has a closure like a traditional bra). Now I am wearing a 36-38D in my regular bras and the sports bra has gotten tighter but is still loose enough for comfort.

I'm usually a 38F and haven't gotten any bigger (so far, and thank the good whatever, btw) so I just took the underwires out of a bunch of my usual bras which has totally done the trick. They fit me, they provide enough extra support to sleep in without being as tight or restricting as a sports bra, and they're already comfy. Bargain!

I'm regularly a 36DD (a bit bigger now - I'm due in 2 days...lol) and I found that what worked best for me was wearing tanks/camis with "shelf" bras in them and also large plain cotton nursing bras from Motherhood Maternity that other posts mentioned. They were about $10 a piece I think. I had major "chafing" issues beginning at about the 6th month, even during the daytime due to my breasts "sitting" on my bump. I was so glad when he finally dropped. LOL! :D

i second the bravado bras...easpecially the original nurser and tanks for night.i still live in these and i weaned back in august!!

i also wanted to mention that the bravado supreme nurser is great for after you have your babe ....way more supportive for a larger chest ( mine was 38 f when nursing) i had oversupply and a damaged nipple that leaked like crazy so i wore these bras all the time...24/7. great quality, sizing, look cute great support...the whole she bang :) but i would not sleep in this bra...and i would definitely wait to buy the supreme until after your milk supply is established and regulated. ( the original nurser and tank you could probably get now as they have some give in them :)

this is the website www.bravadodesigns.com ...check them out if you are interested. :)

i'm on their mailing list and they just sent out an email that shows they are having a contest too...you could win some great stuff... you can sign up for free when you visit the site :)

good luck.
