Hi all...new here to MDC. I'm hoping y'all can help me.

I have super sensitive skin...(mainstream skin care products tend to make my face red and itchy...some things make it break out a bit...I think I am headed for rosacea in the future...just to paint a picture for you)

I have the most sucess when i do nothing to it, just rinse it in the morn and evening with water...but sometime my skin feels like it needs washed and sometimes it feels like it needs some moisture. Plus I worry about protecting my skin from the sun.

Is there anyone out there with super sensitive skin who has developed a good natural facial skin care routine? Care to share? I am looking for cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and sunprotection recommendations.

Thanks!

I too have very sensitive skin. I'm fair, tend to get breakouts and my skin seems to feel irritated all the time.

I'm having great luck washing with oat flour. I just grind oats finely and use them in place of soap and cleansers.

Also, using jojoba as your moisturizer is very calming and soothing. I like to apply it while my face is a little bit damp. It doesn't leave me greasy or shiny at all.

I'm also had wonderful luck with Aveeno's Ultra Calming moisturizers. They really calmed my skin so I'm not red and irritated all the time. I use them during the day for the SPF and I use jojoba at night.

I don't use a toner but some people swear by a few tablespoons of organic, raw apple cider vinegar in a cup or two of water and using that as your toner. Also, witch hazel is popular.

Michelle,
Can you tell me more about the jojoba?
do you just use a tiny bit? where do you purchase it? etc...
Thanks

Jojoba is very close to your skin's own natural sebum. I'm super greasy and sensitive and this doesn't make me greasy at all. I used a few drops on my damp face and it's plenty moisturizing without being oily.

I buy it in bulk from columbus foods because I make my own soaps and lotions but, if you don't want to buy in bulk, most health food stores carry jojoba. There are also places online to get it - http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkoil/d-l.html
