Home Birth VBAC? private midwife anyone?

does anyone know of a midwife willing to support HBAC in NL?

My very radical Ina May style independent who supported be through my attempted home water birth that ended in em C section, is not willing.

the blanket answer throughout NL is that "it's not possible"

I would at least like to try at home.

Anyone?

Yes! My midwife claims to be the only one in the Netherlands who will do a VBAC at home. However, your description of yours as a "very radical Ina May style independent who supported me through my attempted home water birth that ended in em C section" makes me wonder if yours and mine are the same. Yes! Same midwife. Laura is great but she said that I must give birth in the hospital. I must admit, it seems like sensible advice given the disasterous consequences of a rupture, though the chance is only 0.5%. I just want to avoid another section if at all possible and the hospital environment is not what I need to open up, plus they said they would continually monitor me, so I'll be attached to darn machine again....I really need the dancing and the water to get into the contractions.

You mention that Laura said that she supports HBAC. Hhhhmmmm... perhaps she can be persuaded.

That's strange. She definitely told us at our last appointment that she does HBACs and that she's the only midwife in the Netherlands who does. I wonder if it's something about your specific situation that makes her feel that a rupture is more likely? Was your section quite recent, or unusual in some other way?

It's interesting to me that they won't allow it in NL, given that many midwives in the US do attend HBACs.
