A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. I am currently a student studying Elementary Education. I am married to John. Currently nursing Delilah and would love to tandem nurse. I am planning a home birth this time, I had a birthing center last time. I had a really rough pregnancy last time and this one looks like it is going to be the same. That is all I can think of right now.

Screen Name: andi-mama
Age: 20
Other Children: Roman, 20.5 months old
Due Date: November 1
Where do you live: West coast of BC
A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc.: I am a SAHM. My DH and I just got married last Saturday- February 16- and I got my positive pregnancy test that morning (at 7DPO, no less)! Roman is still nursing frequently and I'm really hoping that he doesn't wean during my pregnancy. I planned a homebirth last time but transferred due to lack of support (:() and ended up with an epi at the hospital. This time I am adamant about a homebirth and am better preparing myself with lots of support and lots of research.

Other Children: William, 23 months
Due Date: Nov 3
Where do you live: Newport News, Virginia
A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc.
I've been married to my college sweetheart for 3.5 years :love and I am a SAHM. We are a breastfeeding, CDing, anti-circ family. I absolutely support NCB and wish I could have it for myself. My DS was born at 32w4d by cesarean. He was tranverse, and I ended up with a J-incision on my uterus, so VBAC is not an option for me :gloomy: Of course, I still hope that labor sneaks up on me and I have the baby in our bathroom or something :innocent, but with all my research, I feel that a planned cesarean is the safest option for us :duck: I do feel a little less excited/magical about this PG since I know how it will end, but I will do everything in my power to make my c/s the most gentle that it can be!

Bella Catalina
02-25-2008, 11:33 AM
Name: Brooke
Screen Name: Bella Catalina
Age: 27
Other Children: DS Adrian, 22mths
Due Date: November 4
Where do you live: Los Angeles
A brief intro: I'm an Aussie living in Los Angeles with my DH, a film editor, and from London, UK. I'm a SAHM to our little boy, who will be 23mths next week. We're an extended BFing, CDing, BWing, co-sleeping, traditional foods eating (most of the time), no vax family. Our future sons will be left intact (Adrian wasn't and it one of my biggest regrets). Adrian was born at 36+3 so I am hoping this one makes it to 36 weeks as well and that we can have our first homebirth.

I don't have an inkling for gender yet, but DS already knows there is a baby in mummy's belly and he is consistently telling me it's 2 girls, so who knows.

We just m/c on January 16 at 9w4d so I am nervous that this one (or ones lol) won't stay with us, either. We conceived again straight away which is a blessing because it took us 12 months to conceive Bailee.

Looking forward to getting to know you all :)

Name: Lini
Screen Name: hannybanany
Age: 22
Other Children: DD Hannah, 2.5
Due Date: Nov 3
Where do you live: Georgia
A brief intro: DH and I have been married for almost 4 years, we are an extended bfing, cosleeping, cding, nocirc, novax family. I am a SAHM. I've miscarried 3 times, so I'm not feeling the excitement yet with this pregnancy that I wish I could. We are optimistic though, since I'm on a cocktail of drugs to keep this pregnancy going. I hope to home birth (VBAC), but I'm afraid I'll be too "high risk" for the midwife in my area (with all the meds I'm on, including a blood thinner) :( My OB is very optimistic about vbac'ing, and supportive of NCB at least, so that's encouraging.

Other Children: 1 son (3 1/2), 1 daughter (20 months)
Due Date: Nov. 1
Where do you live: Soutcentral Alaska!
A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. DH and I have been married for 5 years, together for 8. We are both from a small town in Alaska and have moved back here after living in Seattle for 7 years. I tandem nursed my first two children, and my younger DC is still nursing. I am not sure if I am up for tandeming again, though. I actually worry that my older DC would be left out!

My first two children were born by unwanted cesareans, and I am really wrestling with this birth. I want a vba2c, and I know I can birth this baby normally, but where I live it is SOOO difficult to get a vbac. I am considering UC.

Mama, I lived on Bowen Island for 3 mths from Aug-Nov last year. I love BC but too cold and wet for me :o

Sage_SS
02-25-2008, 05:14 PM
I live in the lower mainland. I love it here because its so beautiful. I hate it here because we have one season.
RAIN.
There are four subseasons of rain.
We have the warm rainy season that the rest of the world calls Spring.
We have the hot rainy season that the rest of the world calls Summer.
We have the cool rainy season that the rest of the world calls Fall.
And we have a cold rainy season that the rest of the world calls Winter.

The island is pretty too!

AugustineM

Sage, that's funny about your seasons. :lol

I love BC. I used to live in Seattle and we went to Vancouver all the time.

A brief intro: This is still so early in the pregnancy..... Ok, I expect we will be tandem feeding again, home birthing, co sleeping....... However, if I start working, DH will be doing most of the care and I will be pumping so he can feed new baby (we are in a very difficult situation, baby is a total surprise!).

Due Date: Nov. 10
Where do you live: Michigan
A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. DH and I look totally average but are pretty crunchy on the inside. This will be our 3rd homebirth, my second chance to tandem nurse, more co-sleeping, cloth diapering, etc. DH is an engineer and I'm a SAHM with a law degree, waiting to take the bar exam and practice when the kids are older.

Almost no one knows about this pg yet and I have to say that I'm a little nervous to tell! I think alot of people expected us to only have 2 (including me until the past couple of years) and there will be some surprised faces!

I'm really early (only 10dpo) but really excited to be a part of another DDC.

Here's to a H&H9M for everyone! :D

A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. My husband and I have been together for almost 12 years but only married for 2. We cloth diaper our daughter and have decided to not subject her to any more vaccinations. I breastfed her until about a month ago when she decided she didn't need it anymore. I am planning on giving birth to baby #2 in a birthing center. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Where do you live: south of Boston, MA

A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc.

Hi everyone!!! Let's see, we do the whole AP business with our son and are seriously considering homeschooling when the time comes. I delivered him in a birth center using hypnobirthing and I will definitely use hypnobirthing again, though I am leaning towards a homebirth this time.

Age: 28
Other children: Violet, 20 months
Due Date: Nov 10

Brief Intro:
only really learned about "natural parenting" and mdc right after my daughter was born. Exclusively pumped for my daughter for 15 months after refusing to nurse when I went back to work. I am an OT (thus, the screen name). Had a waterbirth with a midwife, was on TLC's "A baby story", am considering a home birth this time, but I would have to switch midwives so Im not so sure. Nice to meet and join all you ladies!

Age: 27
Other Children: Gillian, 7.5, and Jacob, almost 3!
Due Date: 11/11/08 - Veterans' Day.
Where do you live: Just outside Atlanta, GA, on the north side of town.
A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. Let's see... dh & I have been married for almost nine years. Dd is homeschooled and ds will likely be, unless we find a way to make the Waldorf school work for our family. Dd self-weaned at 5 years, 2 days, ds is nursing, so I will probably be tandem nursing again. We co-sleep, babywear, all of that. It is probably simpler to tell you I am an inactive API Leader and moderately more active LLL Leader. We are planning a UP/UC for this babe - ds was a mw-attended homebirth - and we're strongly looking at doing Hypnobabies.

I'm so excited to get to post finally. :) Got a faint BFP this morning, 12 dpo.

Screen Name: buckysprplmonkey
Age: 29
Other Children: Alexis (7), Gloria (21 mo) and Brandon (18-foster son)
Due Date: I think Nov. 6
Where do you live: Pittsburgh
A brief intro: I am happily married to my preschool sweetheart and we have two beautiful girls (the oldest from a previous marriage, but you'd never know to see her with him). We also have three pets, Sparkle (3 year old boxer/lab), Dr. Pepper and Coca Cola (5 year old littermates-black siamese mixes)- we are strong supporters of animal rescue and training. All three pets are rescues and the dog is a therapy dog and a canine good citizen. We cosleep, babywear (in fact one thing I'm excited about is getting out my slings and wraps again- Glo's getting too big!), breastfeed (for a while- Gloria's still nursing and I still plan on baby-led weaning even if that means tandom nursing). We didn't cloth diaper in the past, but now that I'm getting into the groove of being a SAHM, I'm seriously considering it, along with IEC with this one. We (kids included) are vegetarian + seafood, natural/whole food/organic when possible. Most people call us "crunchy" lol.

A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. Happily married now for almost 13 years. Still breastfeeding my 3 yr old, definitely into extended nursing & child-led weaning. We share a family bed, I'm a stay at home mom, we home school. I had my first daughter vaginally but with an epidural, I had to have a c/sec with my second, and I'm hoping for a VBAC this time with no pain meds. Love babywearing. We're also raw vegans for the past 6 months so this is my first raw vegan pregnancy. I have a blog (http://radiantlyraw.blogspot.com/) too.

I'm glad to be here & look forward to getting to know you all!! :D

Due Date: ?? Probably around 11/9
Where do you live: Washington
A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. Um, I'm not so great at introductions and I'm a little nervous about joining this DDC because I'm pretty sporadic in my posting; I'm hoping this will encourage me to post more regularly and make more connections. Let's see, I've been with my husband since 1991 and we've been married since 2001, I breasted on demand until my daughter was 2.5, we co-sleep now but I'm not sure what that's going to look like once the new one arrives. We're an AP family; we live out in the sticks, and I do my best to grow as much food as possible every summer (though that's been a lot less since I had my first LO :) ) I'm passionate about living respectfully and compassionately and am super excited about this pregnancy.

I want to have the baby either at home or in our local birth center with midwives. I plan to stay at home once the babe is born and breastfeed, cosleep:love and use cloth diapers. I think I'll miss working, but I might be starting grad school in the fall, so I think that will be good. We are a cding, bfing family--so this baby almost seems free! :) DS is still nursing, but no specific plans for tandem or not. I had two hospital births and swore while in the middle of the last one--not again!! There are actually midwives where we are now, so homebirth all the way! I am really excited to have that as an option. DH is excited, stunned, freaking out. We probably will have to move sometime in the next 9 mo. too (hopefully within same area) and he will probably be looking for new work--so many changes.

Screenname: Erlaine
Age: 27
Other kids: This will be #1
EDD: 11/15
Location: Central Virginia
Intro: I got my bfp today, at 11DPO and am praying like anything that this baby will stick around. DP is Purl (like knit and purl); he's 33 and we've been together almost three years and plan to marry on our anniversary, 5/19. I live on an intentional community. I'm definitely doing a homebirth with a midwife if my situation allows. Would love to do a waterbirth if that's possible. We'll co-sleep, BF probably till the kid self-weans, vax only against what hits hard in this area and we'll research the vaxes first, attachment parenting, some combo of CD and EC. You know, your basic Hippie Parenting smorgasboard.

I'm freaking out with excitement and fear and am completely too distracted to do anything for more than ten minutes. Yay!!!!!!

Hi, I recently found out I am pregnant with my 3rd baby. We are very excited. I breastfeed both of my daugthers (until 20 months and over 2.5 years). I had vaginal deliveries with both my girls and really wanted to have a natural childbirth. I did end up with the epidural, but really hope to succeed this time around. I am married to my dh for 10 years. He is in the military so we move often. I am a SAHM, but worked as an RN for 6 years prior to having my girls. I look forward to getting to know you all. well ive been married to my hubby for just over 5 years. we are hoping for a VBAC this time around and i will be using a midwife instead of an OB. i would love to have a birthcenter birth, but dh is not comfortable with that at all, so we agreed to find a midwife who will help me have my VBAC in a hospital. we are about to move to san antonio within a couple of months because of dh's new job. im excited because for the first time in 1.5 years we will be living under one roof again. this baby was a welcome home dh surprise from being all over the country with the military that long. im currently a sahm and i plan to continue that once this new munchkin arrives. we are going to full time cloth diaper. we started cding with ds right around his first birthday, so the whole newborn thing will be interesting. also planning on breastfeeding. the hospital i had ds at was NOT breastfeeding friendly. they wouldnt let me see him until they had given him a bottle so by the time i finally MET him, he wanted nothing to do with my boobies.
well looking forward to getting to know everyone...and
wishing us all a H&H 9 months!!!

I'll continue to be a WOHM as DH and I work different shifts, though I will be taking a minimum of 3 months away for my babymoon. We m/c'd over Christmas and this was our first attempt since. We'll be delivering in a hospital with a CNM due to my previous history.

we are about to move to san antonio within a couple of months because of dh's new job.
Check out Lone Star Midwives. They deliver at St. Luke's Baptist hospital, and it's a co-mingled practice with Lone Star OB/GYN. There's also the San Antonio Birth Center, which is in the Medical Center, so they're this.close if you need a transfer to a hospital. I've met most of the MWs at both practices and they're awesome!

Jennifer, thanks for the recommendations. I searched them online a while back to see what all San Antonio had to offer. I have heard that St Luke's has a better VBAC rate, at Methodist they wont even consider it. Not sure how true that is. I'm sure I'll be picking your brain before too long because we will hopefully be there in 2-3 months. Just gotta find a house first.

Anytime! There is also a very active API group in San Antonio - http://www.api-sa-nb.org/ - and they are a wealth of knowledge. I recently joined, as we are transplants to SA as well, by way of Chicago. While SA is definitely not as 'crunchy' as Austin, I've been really happy how much is offered here. You can also check out texasbirth.org, they're looking to build a free-standing BC and women's health center. They recently hosted a screening of The Business of Being Born and talked about the new center. It won't be open for a few years, if I remember correctly, but just that something like that is in the works is fantastic in my book.

Will have this baby at home (hospital last time). We don't vax due to a family history of severe reactions. We cloth diapered last time and will again. We homeschool.

Screen Name: starkyld

Due Date: November 12th
Where do you live: Currently I'm living in Baltimore, but we will be returning to Brooklyn, NY before the birth.
A brief intro: I'm finishing up my PhD in evolutionary anthropology and am working as a research coordinator in a children's medical research facility. I'm going to Japan & Thailand by myself for a week & a half this summer and am super-excited (but slightly nervous) about that. I've been married for a year and will be celebrating my anniversary with my husband and in-laws in Puerto Rico next weekend (which is where we got married), so we'll be breaking the news to them with a quite scenic backdrop.

I feel like I register as maybe a medium-crunch on the granola scale. I'm planning/hoping to have a homebirth and started in with midwife phone interviews last night. I'm inclined to breastfeed for 1-2 years, cloth- or hybrid-diaper, selectively vaccinate, babywear, and co-sleep with a sidecar.

My hubby and I have been together almost 11 years, (married for 3) Our son was born with a heart defect and passed away before surgery could correct it. I plan to breastfeed, and am hoping for a VBAC. I am a birth doula, and will definitely have a doula present for my next birth. I had a m/c in September of this year, and am hoping for an uneventful 9 months.

We're Christians, that don't go to church because we have only found one church we like and it's over 3 hours away. We're UCers, Hannah was born UC (her birth story is in 'May 07' in my blog, I think) and we fully intend to go for that again. I anticipate tandem nursing since they'll be just over 2 years apart. I've been married for 4-1/2 years now.

A brief intro: We're pretty excited about this whole parenting thing! I work in public health, and I'm lucky to have a great job with a great on-site daycare. I'm planning on a natural childbirth with a midwife at a freestanding birthcenter. We're also planning on exclusively breastfeeding/pumping, cloth diapering, not circumsizing, co-sleeping (probably with some sort of tendem-crib arrangement, as the queen bed is hardly big enough for us), baby-lead weaning, baby-wearing, and most of the usual "crunchy-granola" stuff. Except that I prefer Cheerios to actual granola. Will probably do delayed selective vaccinations. I have several crafty hobbies, and I'm looking forward to making things for the baby. First up, some teeny tiny socks!

Married, BF DD for almost 3yrs, DS is still nursing. Not sure of the birthing choice right. I really do not want to birth in a hospital this time; however, money does play a factor. DD attend preschool at a Friends School and we are also attending a HS co-op one day a week as well. I am a SAHM. What else...we use cloth diapers, babywear, co-sleep. DD is partically vaxed and DS is not vaxed.

A brief intro: This will be our 9th child. I will be breastfeeding and will most likely have a c-sec again because I have big babies and a few of them had shoulder dystocia. I've had 3 over 9lb, 2 over 10 and my last was over 11lbs! If my doc has any idea of a reason why they are so big or is willing to help with with a diet, even thought I've never had GD, I might be willing to try vbac if they would let me. Dh and I have been married for 13 years. I stopped going to college when we got stationed in Germany with the Army. I've not had any desire to go back to college until now. It looks like I should be able to start back this summer and I'm really excited about it! I had been going for a bs in nursing. I got a lot of the general classes done and surprising quite a few of them will count! So I'll be taking some online classes to finish those up and then see about going to nursing school! Guess that's about it!

Intro: We're still pretty darn early in the pregnancy, but we're really excited to be expecting our second. I'm still breastfeeding my DD and am willing to tandem if that is what our family needs. We're also hoping for a midwife assisted homebirth this time. We planned a midwife assisted homebirth but transported due to meconium staining. It was the best possible birth for our DD, but I would love to be able to have a healthy baby at home.

DD is also still happy to sleep in bed with us..so we may have to kiddos in the family bed too.

A brief intro: My first 2 births were typical unnecessary c-sections, after the first one I started to uncover some truth about birth but didn't have the fight in me yet and when they kept putting the dead baby cards on the table and telling me that if I dared tried to vbac my twins one would surely die maybe both and maybe me as well I relented and had an awful planned c-sec, that was all I needed to really start me on my path to everything birth, my last child was born peacefully at home with a very hands off mw. I have spent that last 5 years studying birth and myself thinking I would become a MW, the last 7 months have been in a crazy busy apprenticeship and attending 50 births. The day before I peed on the little stick I told my preceptor that I was going to have to bow out and take a break for the whole "becoming a MW jouney" right now. I am passionate about it but my kids are only kids once and I needed to wake up to this reality, so with the news of a new one on the way I am undergoing big changes in daily life and will be home being a mama for now! oh did that say "brief intro"....

A brief intro: I have been married for 2 wonderful years to a great husband. We got a BFP 3 months after our wedding, but sadly m/c at 8 weeks. 3 months later, we conceived our DD and had her last May via c-section due to ceph. disproportion, so of course I would love to V BAC this one, but our doctor, who we love, will not do one. Thus, I'm pretty sure it will be another c-section. Loved BFeeding and hoping to carry it further with this baby. I will be a SAHM after this school year, so it will be much easier to get the BF'dg down. Hoping for a blessed, smooth 8 months ahead, but I'm prepared for any suprises. Had a wonderful first pregnancy except that I gained 50lbs. :( I did lose it all, so I am going to be better this time. :)

I'm still nursing my ds and am praying that my milk doesn't dry up and he's forced to wean before he's ready :( . My ds has multiple food allergies and I'm hoping by avoiding those foods during this pregnancy that our next child won't have allergies as well. A brief intro: I'm a single mother by choice and conceived using IVF and donor sperm. I'm an emergency room physician assistant working nights. I love to knit, cross-stitch, scrapbook, garden, can, etc. Martha Stewart without the snooty attitude. I have a Scottish Terrier (see my sig) and am absolutely petrified about whether this pregnancy will stick. And about whether it will be twins.

AP-wise, I'm strongly pro-BF, pro-intact, cloth diapering. I'll probably delayed/selectively vax and haven't decided about cosleeping yet (given my night job, babe will have sitters at night 3 nights/week.) I'm hoping to use a FSBC if it's a singleton (or if they'll take me with twins) otherwise as natural as possible at the hospital.

My ds turned 1 today and it took so long and so much emotional energy to conceive him I just couldn't imagine that I would be able to conceive easily. . while nursing. . when only having sex 1-2 times a month :) For now I'm just waiting to see if it's trule a viable pregnancy or not.

A brief intro I've been married to a great guy for 4 years, together for 10. I'm a SAHM to my 21-month-old son Jamie. He was born via c-section; I had a lovely natural labor and then was sectioned for "failure to descend and fetal distress" during second stage. I'm hoping for a VBAC this time and will probably try for a home birth. I had one miscarriage last August, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one is a sticky. Oh and I'm also a novice birth doula. And thumbs up for breastfeeding. I nursed my son for a year and it was the most meaningful experience of my life. Can't wait to nurse again. :)

I'm still nursing a few times a day...and I'm supposed to be writing my second novel while my DD naps, but now...I takes naps as well.

I did make it past a year though with both children with a lot of work. I am hoping for a smoother time this time around,my goal is 18 months (which is how long I was able to nurse my son), would love to go longer. I had an unmedicated hospital birth with my second child and I am trying to repeat that this time. I did have an epidural with my first baby, which was also a great experience. Hey everyone!

Name: Heather
Screen Name: OkiMom
Age: 24
Other Children: 1-DD almost 15 months old.
Due Date: Early November.
Where do you live: Okinawa, Japan
A brief intro: Hey! Im Heather, I am a SAHM. Ive been married for almost three years to John. We have a wonder daughter named Elyse. I miscarried in Janurary and took a test the other day and wow Im pregnant again. I have no idea when I will be due since I didn't have a period after the miscarriage (Ive miscarried once previously in Feb 06) and I am still nursing my DD. We are super excited to be expecting and are praying that this baby sticks. Im already feeling more optimistic since I actually feel pregnant this time unlike last time. Depending on the baby's due date he might just be born on mine (Nov 9) or my husbands (Nov 11) birthday.
We live in Okinawa, Japan. My husband is a US Marine and we have been stationed over here for almost a year. We have another two years before we go back to the states. We would really like to do a home birth but it is illegal over here to so I have to go to the hospital and give birth.

Screen Name: lady_ell
Age: 32
Other Children: none
Due Date: early November
Where do you live: Appalachia
A brief intro: I'm a professor and pregnant with my first child. In the span of 10 days, I accepted a tenure track position, put a contract on an 1889 farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, and got a positive pregnancy test. My husband of less than a year is a documentary filmmaker. We're very happy about this pregnancy, but a little overwhelmed right now (it was not planned!). I'd like to have a home birth, but they're illegal here, and the word on the street is that our local hospital (the only one in a 2 hour radius) is big on interventions. So we're trying to stay informed about how to keep this pregnancy and birth as natural as possible.

Where do you live: South Burlington, VT
A brief intro: I WAHM part time. My dd is still nursing strong and praying that if it needs to end, that it is directed by her and not me. I have lurking here for almost 2 weeks and worried that someone who knows me and doesn't know I am pg. is reading my post. If you read this, pm me. We have been trying on and off for almost 3 years to ttc #2. I had 3 acupuncture treatments and I swear, that is why I am pregnant. I had a beautiful, fast, unmedicated water birth with Anna. I am hoping the same for #2. I am praying that I do not get placenta accreta again.

A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc. I'm married to a wonderful DH who shares the same AP, NFL mindset as I (though I do push his limits!). I nursed DD on demand until she weaned...though she still likes to "nursie" though there's nothing left! We birthed in hospital with a midwife with DD #1 and haven't decided what route we're planning on this time. (I'm pushing for a homebirth!) I work as a prenatal yoga teacher and childbirth educator, so this will be interesting to see how I handle teaching & attending classes as a "student"..

Madeleine's birth was awful. C section under general, long seperationg from her, week long NICU stay. I am trying to avoid that at all costs. We are looking at birth centers and home births. Both of us are leaning toward homebirth. I am still somewhat nursing my daughter and hope that she weans completely on her own by the time the new little one comes. I am just not up for tandem, although i will if I have to.

Man, is morning sickness hitting you yet?

it's awful over here. no ralphing yet, but MAN!

I see you are going UC, I am pretty sure we are doing a homebirth. I would love to do an UC, but I think once I get a natural birth under my belt I would be more confident.

I am Married to Jon, and have been a SAHM since a month before K was born. I have my degree in elementary ed, but became a Nanny for 2 1/2 years after graduating college instead of teaching. My pregnancy and delivery with K were pretty rough, and led into major breastfeeding issues. She did not latch until 10 weeks and in the meantime I had mastitis 3 times, thrush for 6 weeks, and reynauds. I still have some permanent damage to my nipples. B/c of what I went through with her, I have spent the last 2 years researching what occured during her birth and am planning a homebirth this time.

A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc.

Married to dh James for almost 13 years. We're planning a homebirth this time(VBAC). Breastfeeding - of course :love Fiona and Kieran self-weaned (Kieran just a few months ago). We homeschool/unschool. I work part-time outside the home and volunteer for LLL and our local homeschooling community. We have way too many animals, including a momma guinea pig and her babies who we're fostering for the animal shelter (so if you know anyone near Sacto who wants guinea pigs. . .)

We aren't sharing the news of our new baby until I'm a bit more pregnant, but boy do I need to connect to other moms. Already feeling tired, queasy, and wondering how I'm going to manage this time with two others who need Mom.

A brief intro: Well, I'm jumping in here. I had a m/c b/w my 2 boys so i'm a little nervous. I had horrible m/s in the night last night, plus bad headaches, lower back pain, etc. so I thought I could at least tell you all. (not telling many IRL yet) DH is in school to become a Chiropractor. I'm a SAHM and LOVE it. I'm still BFing my 1 yr old and am clueless how it's going to go while prego, b/c he will NOT eat any solids. Everyone is encouraging me that he won't starve himself, though, if I lose my milk I'm planning a birth center birth with a midwife and of course planning to BF (and possibly tandem BF if it's what DS2 prefers) We CD, don't vax, and GD. That's pretty much life for us!!

Hi! My name is Allison but I mostly get called Sonny
I'm 32, this is my first baby, due November 27th in Brooklyn NYC

My wife Tray & I (5 years together, 1 year married) are planning a homebirth. I'm enjoying a very part-time work schedule (I tutor the SAT & GRE for a living these days & I am also a *writer* ha ha ha but now I'm just pregnant) and Tray is in the second half of a PhD program.

We conceived at home with donor sperm, (VERY lucky first try) and I'm now 8 weeks. My first midwife prenatal is in two days and I'm very excited. We are of the "tell everyone" school of thought b/c if I miscarry I would want folks to know that it was a big deal.

mostly feel grateful and excited.

A brief intro: My wonderful partner's name is Sean. We are both Sign Language interpreters and work independantly in the Portland metro area. We have had several (3) miscarriages in the past year, which explains why we're still in a bit of denial. We haven't celebrated out little one yet. But hope to very soon... I'm 11 weeks. :)

We hope to have a safe homebirth (perhaps a water birth?) if all goes well. We are very aware of the benefits of breast feeding and hope to do so as long as possible. We are interested in cloth diapering and are currently researching which brands are worth the money invested. (Suggestions will be greatly appreciated).

Just hoping to meet a few awesome women (and perhaps partners) on here to share the journey with!

Within minutes of telling my mom I was expecting she was telling me to not let the baby cry and not to listen to people who tell me I should so I've decided to take that ball and run with it. Breastfeed for at least a year, cloth diapers, co-sleep (when I learned you could feed the baby in your sleep it was like a miraculous revelation).

Less excited about the hospital birth over the horizon but, maybe s/he'll "accidentally" be born at home.

I'm a SAHM engaged to Mark. I am currently breastfeeding my one year old and will also be breastfeeding the new baby as well. I will be having a natural hospital birth as I did with Delaney, unless some unforseen complications arise. I LOVE my OB because he lets me labor the way I want to as opposed to pushing interventions on me.

Gulp.

I am posting here to change my mindset. I can feel my doula kicking my a** to do so even as I type! I started out in the Dec 08 DDC because I found out I am due November 29 and because my first was 16 days post-EDD (and perfect, might I add, not post-dates at all), I just assumed that my 2nd would also be late and so set myself up to best come to terms with what I considered to be just the facts, ma'am.

Two recent experiences have prompted me to refocus on my "due date": one, my midwife, whom I respect and trust and who has been a midwife for a very long time, and who also has a high VBAC success rate, told me that if I go past 42 weeks, I have two choices: a gentle induction (but an induction nonetheless) or a new care provider. Doesn't sound like a great option to go with a UC or a new care provider at 42 weeks, and I do like my midwife group. Secondly, my doula's repeated reminder this weekend that this is a different pregnancy, a different child, a different labor and a different birth. Heck, this kid even has different genes than my first - well, half of them anyway (different sperm donor than #1). For all I know, HE MAY COME EARLY. So I am seeing the need to change my thinking and attitude in order to help create a positive outcome.

Ahem, with that very long preamble:

I'm Jen as you can tell from my oh-so-creative username, JenInMpls. You can also glean where I live from that little nugget. I'm 34 and have a nearly 4-year-old son. My partner and I have been together for nearly 10 years; she works at a local non-profit as a computer geek. I am currently on leave from my career as a Waldorf German teacher which is a vocation I love passionately. Our 2nd son is due November 29th. We would love to have Thanksgiving dinner with our midwife and doula celebrating a successful VBAC. We are all for cloth nappies, babywearing, intact boys and organic, local food. I am a low-supply lactivist who is hoping for but not counting on a full milk supply this time (any other Twin Cities mamas out there who might want to pump for me?). My MDC senior title comes from having a 3+ year nursing experience with my first despite low supply, full-time use of an SNS for 15 months, thrush, plugged ducts and mastitis. He weaned himself around Thanksgiving last year and I couldn't believe we made it that far.

Forgive my longwindedness... as others here who are part of my first son's DDC can attest, I am a yacker. :blah look forward to getting to know you all.

A brief intro: ie, partner, breastfeeding and birth choices, other things going on in life, work, school, etc.
I've been married to my college sweetheart for 6 years, together for 11. We live in my home town near lots of family. I'm active in our local ICAN chapter after having my first birth go wacky-- after 24 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing, we found out she was breech, and she was not coming down, so I ended up with a c-section. Surgery and recovery went as well as could be hoped, but i'm working towards a VBAC with a midwife at the crunchiest of the local hospitals. I nursed my daughter until 20 months and am looking forward to another wonderful nursing relationship. I'm an artist and worked in a gallery and in art education until having my daughter. I have an Etsy shop (http://www.pollywogpouch.etsy.com) and still paint when I have the energy.

Nice to meet y'all! :D

I loved babywearing and am wondering how I might pull that one off this time round with two babies....have also co slept with all my children so far.

I am a student in a 12 month Montessori training course to work with children under the age of three. We are required to do a total of 250 hours of observation of children in this age range. A classmate and I will be in the SF Bay Area for the period of observation, November 1- March 1, and need to connect with families to meet the requirements. 50 of these hours are required, observing infants from birth to 8 weeks. Additionally, we are strongly encouraged to attend a birth, especially a home birth. Ideally, we would also observe a hospital birth too. Since I am new to the area, I am inquiring to see if anyone can connect me with families, or if anyone has any suggestions as to where else I might inquire. I do have a letter from the director of training to explaining my training and requirements should any family request it. Also, I would be happy to meet or talk via telephone to discuss my background further. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Janette Leslie
