View Full Version : When do you believe it?--Addicted to pg. tests

So, at what point do you truly relax and say, this is it? I took one test and it very faintly turned positive. The same day, I went and got another test to take in a couple days. I ended up taking it a couple hours later. It was a faint positive. I then bought a couple more (these are $1 tests:wink) and took one the next morning. Another faint positive. I still have one more test left. It is all I can do to keep from taking it.

I haven't found a midwife yet, so haven't had any "professional" contact or reassurance. Maybe that is why it seems so unsure. I need to just trust my body and relax. I guess there is this silly fear that the baby will just disappear on me. I have been blessed with two healthy children with completely normal pregnancies. I just wish this early stage would go faster. 4 weeks just seems... I don't know- early?

I took a test yesterday evening and got a light positive. I'm sure it's pos because there are clearly 2 pink lines even though the one is light and it came up during the time frame. Dh, on the other hand, sees the line but doesn't know if it counts because it's light, lol! He doesn't want to tell our family and friends until we get a darker line. I'm going to test in the morning first thing and see how it looks.

Me, too!!!

I could see myself being addicted to tests.... but I don't think there's anywhere I can buy $1tests! The cheap ones here are 2/$9 :P And I am toooo cheap to buy more at that rate!

But I do wish time would speed up ... I feel I can relax more after the first trimester.

I relax when I start seeing signs from my body (actual signs, not made up ones :lol). So, when I'm actually late, when I start getting those little glands on my areolas, and of course when the m/s starts.

I am sorta looking forward to being sick, too.:o My back was hurting when I first thought I was pg. That was my first sign for last DC too. But now the pain has gone away, so that of course is worrying me. I am sure everything is fine. But a few symptoms (that didn't last too long or weren't too strong--how picky!) would be a little reassuring.

I only took the one test... but I did hold my breath, seemingly, throughout the day that AF should have arrived. Now I'm feeling pretty good about everything, despite the lack of overt symptoms.

Oh my god I'm so with you. I was never addicted to POAS when I was ttc...now that the sticks say I'm pg I can't stop peeing on them. It's like I'm scared the line is going to go away. Also, part of me is looking forward to getting sick...not really, but at least it's an obvious sign. I'm glad my boobs still hurt. If I'm ever afraid they've stopped being sore, I lay on my tummy for awhile.

I know it all sounds weird, but we were ttc for almost a year. This is like total fantasy land!

I bet I've bought 100 of those $1 pregnancy tests in the past 3 years :bag:

I bought a 'real' one after 2 faint +s on the $1 ones, and believed that, it was a good quick line. That and I'm rather late for my period right now LOL. I'll really feel pg when the sickness starts, not looking forward to it particularly, but it will be reassuring :)

My period is 2.5 weeks late and I tested (again) on Saturday :lol I got a BFP the day after my bulk order of 20 cheapy tests arrived, so they're just sitting around so I figure I may as well. I'm a big dork.

My mom keeps thinking I am not pregnant because my only "symptom" is a late period. Uhh... then why did I get a positive pregnancy test?! She's silly.

:lol I am soooo glad there isn't a dollar store nearby or I would be peeing a stick every day. I've only taken one test so far and the control line came up very light, but the test line came up very dark :scratch.

I went to see the midwife yesterday and she said my uterus is definately feeling extended. And I have morning sickness that is getting worse everyday. I'll gladly give my m/s to anyone who wants it :p.

I've only taken one, but it was an expensive one and it said, "pregnant" in about no time at all. Plus I've got a million symptoms. I'm actually wondering if I'm farther along than I think I am and that my last "period" could have been implantation bleeding or something like that. Gonna ask the MW if maybe bloodwork or U/S is in order to see if I'm right or not.

I'm thinking the same thing!

Keep us posted! I'm just going to wait until my appt to ask them about it. My cycle's been so wonky because of nursing that I'm pretty sure they'll want to do something to date this baby anyway.

I had 4 positive tests, 2 FRER and 2 EPTs but the lines were faint so I didn't believe them. Once the digital test said PREGNANT, I relaxed a litte. I'm still sort of holding my breath until we hear the heartbeat but I did indulge in a little baby name exploration and am knitting some longies.

I've taken three tests. After the $ store test turned positive, (and I picked myself up off the floor!) I went and bought a two pack of FRER's. That is the test that has mocked me for two full years of ttc! I took one Saturday, and one Sunday, and they both come up positive in less than a minute.

Also, because I've been seeing an RE and getting treated for infertility, I got in for a beta yesterday, and at 14dpo, it was a whopping 269, with progesterone at 48. Its starting to sink in, at least a little bit. :D

bought 5 $ store tests when we were in the trying phase, took 3 that say nope and then waited patiently till I had actually missed my period and on the day I would have started got 2 faint +'s. It's actually quite hillarious, I took one the morning I would have gotten my period and looked at it for 30 seconds saw the test line glaringly dark and thought, yeah it's another - tossed it in the wastebasket. This was at 8am then all day Im waiting to see AF but nothing nada, and let me tell ya im pretty much like clock work. so about 3pm I start thinking hey, wait maybe I didn't let enough time pass, maybe I should go look at it again. Of course by now 8hrs have passed, I pull it out of the wastebasket and can't believe the two lines I see, Im smiling so hard my cheeks hurt (this happens everytime I get preggos!), then I think ok I have one left I have to take it the other may just be a falty test and it did sit there all day I can't rely on that, so I try to pee on my last stick but I can't pee. In the meantime DH and the kids come home from school. DH is like "WHAT" (my cheeks cannot relax), and I say I think I have good news, he says "oh did you get the reservations to go camping this weekend" and I say yeah but still am smiling like a crazy woman and he's like "your pregnant?!" all I can say is that I think so, and then I try to take the test again get a few drops and it's a double liner, the hormone line if more faint than the test line but it is definately there! From my work in midwifery a false neg happens all the time before the hormone is high enough, but a false + is very unlikely. I going with it as my nipples are screaming everytime Winter tries to nurse and still no period...but I do have that nagging desire to pee on more sticks! Definatley addicted here!

It hasn't really sunk in yet (I'm only 3 weeks in 2 days). I took my first test this morning and I completely and totally expected it to be negative. I really thought I'd had an anovulatory cycle. I only tested because I had an appt to see a Dr for fertility treatments. I figured I should test just to make sure so I wouldn't look stupid going to see him if I was pg. Of course I believed the test would be negative. So when the line showed up, I leaned over squinting, ran for my glasses, and grabbed the test. It was so very positive. I just stared with my jaw open.

When DH came home from work, I snuck into the bathroom and used a digi test. DH was on his laptop and I put the test on his keyboard. He sat there speechless and in shock just I had. :lol The he got up and poured a glass of wine. Yeah, we were surprised.

Took my last test this morning. A beautiful, quick positive! Saved it for the day we met with the midwife (just in case:eyesroll). But now she had to reschedule. At least I am starting to believe it's a keeper.

I peed on three sticks in 12 hours, just to make sure. All positive. That was at 27 dpo. Now I'm just over 7weeks along, and I still occasionally get the urge to pee on another one! Even with the morning sickness, bloodwork, and very late period, I still think I need to pee on more sticks! That said, I have resisted the temptation. Really, three ought to be enough!

I had 4 tests done, the inexpensive ones that cost pennies. I have had 3 pregnancies prior to this one and have never had a proper positive line, only faint ones.
I am not too optimistic at the moment, anything can happen, don't want to get too excited.
