Anyone else just feel lost if you read through lists and lists of names?
Has anyone found a really good website?
Maybe one that helps you a little. Something like, if you like this name (fill in name) you may also like (fill in names).
I'm 31 weeks pregnant and my dh and I are having the hardest time with naming this little one.
He hasn't liked ANY name I've suggested. Until today he hasn't suggested any names...and the one he suggested isn't one I'm really into.
Agh...

No words of advice, just know how it feels. I still have months before I need a name, but I'm so worried we're going to have a boy and have no name for him (we have a girls name picked out)

I know exactly what you are going through. We've had a boy's name picked out since the second week we were dating. But girl's names?? TOUGH! Of course, our first child is a girl and we did, finally, agree on a name for her. This time around it is even harder to come up with a girl's name.
This isn't a website but I highly recommend The Greatest Baby Name Book Ever ... http://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Baby-Name-Book-Ever/dp/0060566493/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1205283505&sr=8-2 ... It is by far the best name book I've found. We have several books but some give the wrong definitions to names. I always check names I know the origin/meaning of and I can't believe how off some of the books are, I swear the authors just make stuff up. And I found one book offensive in that it gives lists of names entitled "Bad to Bone death-row names" or "wimpy names" how do those arbitrary opinions of the author help a parent preparing to name a child???? :angry But the Greatest Baby Name Book has clear and accurate info on language of origin, meaning, any trend info and famous people who have the name.
DH and I have differing tastes on names. It seems that every time we agree on a name that we like there's a reason not to use it (close cousin has it, ex-girlfriend's name, doesn't go with DH's last name etc etc).
Last time I was pg, we each went through the baby name book and wrote down every name that we even paused at. (Some were horrendous!) Then we read each other's lists and got to veto absolute no ways. Even after that we ended up with over 60 names!! But not one that stood out that we were both truly happy about. So we then paired them up, like a tennis tournament and each day I'd stick two post-its to the bathroom mirror, each with one name on it. By the end of the day we had to agree which name to toss. Then the next day, two different names. It was a long process but really fun and it felt like it gave us time to mull over each name.
It looks like we'll be doing the post-it toss again this time. Last night I was up after midnight reading the baby name book...

Sorry, I know I've already written a book, but I just wanted to add this....
Recently someone on this site had this website: http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/namequiz.html
You do the quiz (really quick and painless) and it comes up with different name catagories you like. (Classic Unusual, Modern Conservative etc). Then you can click on each catagory and it will list boy and girl names that fall in that catagory. So, that might help you with the "if you like this name, maybe you'll like this one" thing.
Good luck!! HTH

I found the best baby names site yesterday and now I can not find it for the life of me! It was The Baby Names Bible in digital form. (I found it at work and my pc wipes the history nightly as part of updates!) If anyone has this link please post it!

No not an x-files fan. But I've heard one of the agents on that show had that name-- in tv land. In real life his name is David.:eyesroll

Yeah, David Duchovny played Fox Mulder and to me, I instantly think of him. Not that that is a bad thing- I love the show and the character. Matter-of-fact, am watching an eppie on Sci-Fi Channel right now as we speak:wink.
I just thought for sure he was maybe a fan b/c otherwise haven't heard that as a name before.
