OK, so I'm just going to come out of the closet with you all and tell you that I'm an EXERCISE ADDICT!!! Well, I guess I used to be an addict before I got busy being a working mom and now a pregnant working mom :D
But I really believe in the benefits of even the simplest of exercises and while I don't get to do something everyday, I try the best I can.
I'm sure all of us have thought about how an exercise regime can be good for our pregnancies, so let's have a thread to keep each other motivated!!!
Post your successes, your not-so-successes, your fears, your limits, whatever you want. Anybody in?

I've been wanting to start some prenatal yoga. I try to do kegels whenever I think of it! I've also been trying to walk some every day. My average day includes around a mile or two of walking just walking from building to building around here, but it doesn't feel like exercise, just transportation.

I think my lifestyle has me in pretty good shape, but I am NOT an exerciser, and I much prefer to be sedentary, so if this thread helps me, baby and I will be grateful!

I'm in. I'm an exerciser. In my first pregnancy I was swimming and using the treadmill still at 41+ weeks and had a really easy pregnancy and post-partum recovery so I want to make the time to do the same for this one.

Right now I am going to the gym as normal, maybe a little less because I don't feel great. Yoga makes me feel better.

I really missed proper exercise after having my first baby. I didn't start going to the gym until he was about 9mo (no childcare) and that was haaard.

I do prenatal yoga and pilates. We also live near a huge wooded city park that I like to hike in.

I keep meaning to do t-tapp but I am feeling so tired and sick today. I just need to do it and stop making excuses - because I feel a hundred times better when I do it - it's a lymphatic workout.

I really *need* to exercise this pregnancy. I didn't do enough last pregnancy and though I had an easy birth and recovery I am 3 years older and 10lbs heavier and I just don't feel good about myself right now...

I did nothing at all while pg with my first two; with my third I exercised throughout the pregnancy and felt so much better! So I plan to continue. I workout at Curves, which is great - it's a quick workout but you get both cardio and strength training, and you can modify the pace, so it's ideal for pregnancy. Now if only I can stick to it! This is going to be my 4th baby in a little over 6 years, so I have put on some weight each time and I don't want (or need) to gain a ton this time. For me though, it's also about eating healthier and not giving in to cravings (well, sometimes but not ALL the time, yk? LOL)

I am an exerciser. However, I suffer from Ehler Danlos Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. My EDS always worsens with pregnancy, I have had my hips trying to pop out, my ribs are doing their best to escape from where theey want to be, my wrists are killing me (I am going to have to sort out supports again) and on top of that, I am bloody exhausted............

So, my current exercise plan is as follows but I am trying to be flexible due to my joint problems, pregnancy exhaustion, fibromyalgia and morning sickness.....

Day 1: 30 mins on Lateral thigh trainer followed by strength exercise in the morning and then 30 mins LTT followed by stuff like callanetics in the evening.

Day 2: Chill out day really, 2 mile walk and 30 mins on LTT because my joints need that days rest and otherwise I am incapable of getting up.........

So I just keep alternating that.

Mama, you should look into t-tapp (http://www.t-tapp.com)... I know it has helped a lot of women with fibromyalgia.

I need a tire on my double jogging stroller fixed so I can go out walking again. :P

I'm currently looking for a prenatal yoga class that will let me sign up without requiring a doctor's "permission." Some of them acknowledge that you could have a midwife, but they still want contact information if not a signature. Somehow, I don't think signing it myself is what they had in mind. Hopefully I'll figure something out in the next couple of months - my schedule is so busy I couldn't really start until May anyway.

And swimming! I am so excited, this will be my first pg that I am a member at my local Y, so I can swim the entire time!

Oh, so glad there are so many interested in exercise.
What is t-tapp? I've heard of it on other threads, but am clueless :shrug

I'm a couple pounds heavier starting this pregnancy, but my body is just a whole lot different now. The pounds used to be leg muscle and now they're belly fat :o It took me a really long time to lose the weight I gained with dd, way longer than I thought it would.

Right now I'm hiking every Sunday with a small ladies hiking group. And jogging 2x a week about 3-4 miles with a friend. I also walk dd about once a week for a long stroller nap and then now that she wants to walk on her own, we do a few laps down the driveway and around the cul de sac at a leisurely pace a few times a week. I wish I could do a little bit of weights, but I don't really enjoy that very much. Plus, I don't think it's good to do after you're too far along anyway.

I WISH I had time for yoga. I was going to a good class once a week, but we are in dire straights with childcare right now and I just can't afford the time off. We don't have any prenatal classes near where I live right now either.

I walked a ton my first pregnancy and still gained 40 pounds. I'd like to gain way less this time, but already feel a little drained on energy...

Hope everyone got out to do something this weekend!

So is everyone still exercising????

I went out with my jogging partner today thinking that I would cut it short and walk some but I did the whole 4 miles! I was pretty impressed with myself. I need to make sure I don't use pregnancy as an excuse not to exercise. I think last pregnancy I could have done a lot more than I did, I kept wanting to pamper myself. I think that's good to some extent, but I don't want to get too carried away. I think I'll try for another 4 miles on Thursday, then maybe cut it back after that. We'll be out of town anyway and that's never good for motivation.

Hope you all are getting out there!!!

Yes I am LOVE to exercise. In fact I work p/t as a fitness instructor/personal trainer.
HOWEVER, I recently injured my ankle (tore some ligaments) so I have been on crutches since 2/29. As you can imagine I am GOING CRAZY not be able to do much and of course not being able to run after my 19 month old is not fun :(

It is hard for me to find out I am pregnant and not keep to my routine. I usually teach a few classes per week. Walk/run a few times per week. Now I can only do upper body weights and some abs/Pilates stuff. I CANNOT wait to get back into some sort of routine. I probably won;t be running again until after this baby comes but walking, swimming, something would feel SOOOO good!

I miss it.

SORRY I am whining. I will start doing a Prenatal Pilates video this week.

I'm not in the shape I was with my first three, and would really like to be more fit so that I feel better in the last months and to make childbirth easier. Are there any exercises that are dangerous during pregnancy? I was doing some yoga and pilates, although not faithfully:o

I haven't exercised all bloody week.........

Pregnancy is playing havoc with my EDS, I subluxed my shoulder on last Monday and have been in too much pain and I am just so tired ALL the time, sometimes, having a bath is exhausting but that could be fibro rather than just the pregnancy. Not having a good time at all.

OK exercising mamas, I am so jealous! I would love to have some routine, but between having two small children and being generally exhausted, I don't know you do it. I know a couple of you, at least have small children too, what's your secret?

I walk quite a bit, I don't drive so weather its a casual walk around the block or walking to bus stops I get usually 3-5 miles a day in. prior to this pg I was doing yoga and a kick boxing class, but im far to drained for any of that right now.. I have exercise on demand with my cable co. I keep meaning too look and see if they have pregnancy exercising shows on thier. Im taking it easy and just walking right now til I get that 2nd trimester energy.

Yeah, I am now waiting for the second trimester. I got my 2 girls (I am going to have 3 under the age of 5 :scared when this little one appears) who are complete nut jobs........ They are constantly jumping around, then I have DH who due to certain problems isn't all that able at the moment so I am doing everything. I am just feeling :zzz ........ It is way too much.

Not exercising is making me feel really bad but I am quite simply incapable at the moment............ I was going to have a go at some tonight but I am thinking I will probably be in bed for 6:30 again not to awaken until 6:30 in the morning for the same old MS and exhaustion routine. This pregnancy is REALLY taking it out of me...... I was so happy at the beginning to be able to continue with the exercises and now I just feel like a flubby, jelly like creature, I don't know, an overweight jellyfish. My body has visibly changed in just 4 wweeks thanks to lack of exercise and the only thing helping my MS is stuff like baked potatos etc...........

I am just willing my energy to come back to me (pretty please, return to me, I don't want to get all fat again......... I had gotten nice looking again and my DH had actually started to pay me more attention.........).........

I'm just walking a few miles per day with my kids. That's what I've done with my previous pregnancies, too.

I'm going to have 3 under 3!

You just made me feel very thankful lol.......

It is now 7pmish and I am still awake which is quite frankly amazing, however, I have had awful cravings and ended up consuming ALOT of cheese today and nearly a whole big bottle of Salad Cream........ I can feel my thighs expanding as I speak/type........

Tomorrow, I am going to do some bloody exercise and if I don't report back explaining what I have done I expect a full round of slaps......
