I just discovered this site for the American Friends Service Committee. Having done some work with them in the past I thought of them when we came into a ton of medical supplies (gauze, etc.) we don't need (another story - part of a non-profit we run.)
Anyway - they have a variety of projects that they need volunteers for, including making some crafty things: (dolls, mittens, afghans)

They send these to refugee camps. I thought they'd be a great idea to work on in a group - if you have a church group or a moms group (even a older kids group) that has time on its hands, or if you're looking for a real use for your talents - check them out! Its really nice to know that you can donate more than just $$$ (esp. if like us, you don't have much) and help some folks out.:D
