UGGHHHH! I started taking tylenol pm during my first pregnancy. Unfortunately, I STILL take them. Well I know that is not a good thing but know I need sleep. This go around those are not even working. I have not slept well past 3 nights!!!! I'm going to be going to a MW this time, so she wouldn't be able to prescribe me anything. Does anyone know anything natural that is safe during pregnancy?????? Or would I be able to call my gyn/former ob and see if she can give me something even though I'm not going to be seeing her this pregnancy? TIA!

I know absolutely nothing about sleep aids and pregnancy, but my Mom used to take this (http://www.naturalimpact.com/subformel.html) and really liked it.
You might ask your CP about using it. It's 'natural' and seems like it would be better than tylenol, but I don't know for sure.
It does have the standard CYA disclaimers.

I've had the worst insomnia this time around. I was taking Tylenol PM, then found out I was PG. I have started moving around, staying active. I walk around the neighborhood,I'm going to try and walk at least 2 times a day. And I have tried to cut out as much caffeine as I can. I have tried this since Friday and everynight since then I have slept like a baby. Pardon the pun. :)

I need to do those things myself. I've been so lazy, drinking too much caffeine and I lay in bed and watch my shows. I've got some bads habbits I need to change. Thanks for the replies. :)

I like Hyland's Calms Forte, it's homeopathic and safe. However I took like 3 doses of it last night and STILL couldn't fall asleep.
I bought this stuff by WishGarden (herbal) called "Sleepy Nights" for Pregnancy, so I'll let you know how it goes tonight. However I barely slept last night and was on a plane all morning with two crazy kids so I'll be shocked if I don't just keel over at some point!!

i go through this from time to time too, and did with my first pregnancy. i have taken benadryl once or twice (a half dose, as i am sensitive to anything that would make me drowsy). not that i'd recommend that, just saying.
i find that i HAVE to exercise, even if it's just walking, during the day and that this can help more than i would've previously though. i also dont drink any caffiene after noon. and i try to make lists or write notes or whatever, to clear my head. otherwise it's my mind racing that keeps me away.
so, no drug/herb advice but some thoughts of changing your routine that might help a little too. good luck!

Thank you for posting this! I haven't been sleeping right since I found out I was pregnant. At first I thought I was excited (and I was/am) but it hasn't gone away. :(

I too thought my initial sleeplessness was excitement but it's gone way beyond that now! I definitely agree though that I'm sleeping way better on the days that I force myself to go walking. It doesn't even have to be any kind of demanding exercise - just getting active for 30 minutes a day is all it takes.
The challenge, of course, is mustering the energy to do the walk!
