This is for Laurel who is quite excited to register. (Go for it!)
And for me to live a bit vicariously because realistically with this being #5, we couldn't possibly need anything. Well, if is is a boy, we'll need clothes. If it is a girl, I will need some initial winter outfits because I have maybe 2 or 3. Maddie was a winter baby, but I borrowed most of her clothes from my sister who used them with her 3rd baby and has since pitched them.
So:
Where are you all registering?
What are you registering for?

Not registering yet. Like you, if it's a boy we'll need clothes. But we absolutely have NOT AN INCH of space left in the house to store anything! I don't know what I'm gonna do. I hope we get a bigger house before winter. ;)

I'll register for new baby socks (we have a sock problem here) and boy clothes (just a feeling) and diapers. I've only got mediums and larges, so I'll need diapers for the tiny new butt. Also, I asked for diapers last time and (we were using disposables until a couple months ago) didn't need to buy any for 3 months, we got so many. Where? Everywhere. The more places I register, the more choices people have, so they can avoid here or there or go their favorite place. Tis what I did last time and it worked great.
I'll register around 20-25 weeks.

I found a cool way to register at www.alternativeregistry.org. You can add what you want and it doesn't have to be specific items...it can be meals or laundry help, etc.

I probably won't register since this is #2. If it's a girl, I'll just hit consignment shops and Target. I want to CD better this time around, so I'll ask people for CDs if they want to get a gift.

oh wow, I'll probably need everything! this is my first, but I doubt we'll register until way later. And I am waiting to find out what sex the baby is, so I guess it'll be yellow and green for me. I'll take lavender too, and I'm not opposed to girls wearing blue or boys in pink, but people get fussy about that.

I'm registering for everything. I don't have anything other than my fav outfits that DD wore. So this will be fun.
It's funny... we just registered for our wedding stuff. We were going to wait until June to get married, but wanted a baby NOW. And we didn't want to get pg w/out being married. So we got married March 14, and AF started that night! Luckily we go to DTD before! TMI...sorry. So we actually conceived a few weeks after we got married! Fun times!

Wooo... PRESENTS!!! :balloons :balloons :balloons
Okay just kidding... kind of. I'm not actually registering for anything yet, though it's sooo fun to look! I was talking to my best friend about it last night, though, and I'm kind of conflicted about registering for some stuff anyway - I find so many great deals on Craigslist and some local ads that I don't feel like I need to get it all brand new! I am sure I would get it if I registered for it, and I don't want to spend all of our money on stuff other people could gift to us (we're not in dire straits, but we're not rich either), so I don't really know how to handle that.
For example: There was a totally cute Pack 'N Play on CL a while back - I think it had been used like three times, for $35! But, that's $35 I wouldn't have to spend if I let family or friends get it new. But again, it just seems like such a waste to have them pay $100 for it.
How would you guys handle that? Is it tacky to tell people we're going to get a lot of stuff used, and ask for money? Is there anything you absolutely WOULDN'T get used? The only thing I can really think of is the carseat, which I'd want to buy new just for my own peace of mind re: safety issues.
Oh yeah, edited to add: When we do register, since I'm sure there will be at least some stuff, it will probably be at Target and Babies 'R' Us. Unfortunately, we have NEITHER nearby, so I'll probably have to do it all online. I will have to check to see if our little boutique maternity/baby shop in town does gift certificates or something, though, because I LOVE that place.

I don't register, I didn't with DD either. Many Muslims don't do baby showers before the baby is born but after.
I had bought a few outfits in green and yellow (didn't know the gender) and then after she was born, my MIL bought a bunch of stuff.
When my friends wanted to visit, they'd ask me what I was missing and usually I had a thing to suggest. "Few more onesies" "I coudl really use a bouncy seat" "I"d love some more diapers as burp rags" For those who didn't ask, they most often brought nice fancy dressy clothes in biiiig sizes (4T some of them) that we still haven't gone through. I still get warm fuzzies thinking about the nice things they bought DD.
This time around, I'd just like some small covers. Heh.
I will be registering... I'm going to wait til at least the second tri though.
But DP and I did go browsing this weekend and I beleive we found our crib and carseat/stroller. We are going with neutral colors in case we have more children later. :love
Found a cute set that is brown/tan/turquoise that I think will be fine as a neutral for any gender.

I've started my registry but this is baby #4. the registry is mostly my list of what I need (read: want) for this baby as I see things I like. :)

I, too, won't register for some time and it's baby #2 so who knows if I'll have a shower or anything.
But we didn't do CD w/DS until he was 4 months (and 18 lbs) so I want to register for Newborn and Small All-in-One Cloth Diapers!!!!
I also would love to get the Ergo newborn insert and backpack attachment. I used Peanut Shells when DS was newborn, but I love my Ergo and would like to try it with a new baby.
Glass bottles (we used Avent when DS had to take bottles and I'm trying to get rid of them because of the BPA)
More of my favorite nursing bras (hard-to-find 34H in the Anita underwire style which is, like, mega hard to find and super expensive, and I am nursing DS 13 months old so it looks like I'll be living in these things for some time to come)
Japanese Weekend Maternity pajamas (make great nursing pjs too, the only ones I like)
Stepstool and potty seat (for the big brother-to-be!)

Yes! We will be registering for sure. We have nothing left! I got rid of everything except my clothes left over from our son...who was born July 1st so none of that will even work! We where so sure we where done that we sold everything!
We will buy or borrow most things ourselves, but I will be registering for cloth dipes and all the jazz that goes with it! I can't wait for another little cloth bum!!! :cd:
