View Full Version : Dreaming?
So the morning radio station I listen to had something on today that pregnant women are TWICE as likely to dream than non-pregnant women.
Do you think this is true? Any of you dreaming more?
I can't say for sure... I have always dreamed a lot and I still am. lol

I think it's true!
I rarely dream when I'm not pregnant (or remember the dreams - if that's the case). But, I dreamt a ton during my last pregnancy and have been dreaming quite a bit during this one too - though not quite as much as last time.
I think I've heard before that it's because pregnant women don't sleep as well.... Something about you spend more time in the early/active stage of sleep and don't make it into the restful/deep stage as often or for as long as when you're not pregnant. I could see that - being up 2 or 3 times a night, I very rarely feel like I'm getting any sort of restful sleep!

Ooo! That's a really good theory and makes a lot of sense. *nods* I'm already going through the wake up 500 times a night! lol

DEFINITELY! I had a feeling I was pregnant the day of implantation because I had a really vivid dream about oceans, water, boats, etc. It was SO vivid and I remembered so much of it, which is really unusual for me. Since then, I've had very vivid dreams, and even some awesome lucid dreaming moments, every other day or so. Yesterday I had a depressing miscarriage-anxiety dream, but today I had an... adults only kind of dream. :wink It's a fair trade-off, I think!

I am so glad you brought this up. I thought I was mentally going crazy or something. I never ever have dreams, but since I have become pregnant every night I have the strangest dreams. Its weird because there are always people from my past that I no longer talk to and I wake up feeling so confused. It is so weird for me. I never dream about my actual pregnancy or my little baby boy! Does anyone have crazy dreams that don't involve your unborn baby? Or is your baby in your dreams? I am just curious to know what others experience.:2ndtri::storkboy

I had a really weird dream about my baby, but only one. I was in a strange house, standing in the kitchen. I had just had the baby and was holding it, but it was a cat/baby - it was like a combination of my human baby and my beloved kitty (my original baby) who died a year and a half ago, and who was with me since I was 4! *tear* :( It was SO strange. It was both a boy and my cat and I remember thinking it was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. :shrug It was also sad because the cat/baby was trying to walk away from me, and I was so surprised it could walk already, and I tried to cling to it. Very weird.

i dream all the time, very very vivid dreams, and pregnancy is no exception.
Speaking of dreams, I didn't tell my sis about the pregnancy until a week ago (31 weeks now!!) and she had been wondering who was pregnant because she's been having pregnancy dreams once a month since December! She thought it was our other sister because she was sure I would have said something if it was me - oops!

I am a heavy dreamer anyways but since I've been pregnant my dreamtime has been off the charts. Crazy, crazy vivid dreams of all sorts. Some are epic, some I'm pregnant, I've had dreams of my baby a few times and of delivery, dreams with babies in them and lots and lots of naughty dreams. So much fun! Many mornings I don't want to wake up as I want to see what's going to happen next! :thumb

With my DD I had such VIVID and regular dreams. I remember waking up in tears from one dream because it was so upsetting. I couldn't even talk about it without crying. I think I do dream more when pregnant, and I have more memorable dreams, usually terrifying dreams while pregnant...

Well...everyone dreams everynight 3-4 times. And they are always shorter than we percieve, anywhere from 1 min to 10, but remembering what you dream I think is definitely more common when pregnant. I dont know why that would be, but I have noticed that about myself. Some nights I will wake up directly after each dream and remember everything that happend. This causes a real problem with getting a good nights rest, but sure...
It is also more common to have dreams about your mother when pregnant, and large objects because of the subconsious view of ones self while pregnant.
Check out www.dreammoods.com and there are some great explinations of dreams when pregnant and underlieing meanings. :thumb

I totally agree with that. I dream so much more now that I am pregnant. The dreams seem so real too.
Last night I was at a party with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, WEIRD! I normally am not a huge fan of her but in my dream she was so sweet. I feel like I percieved her all wrong now and from a dream.
Maybe this is TMI but I have also had some very real seeming sex dreams.
