I know this has been addressed numerous times here, but just wanted your opinions....

We're expecting baby #2 July 4th-ish and are having trouble coming up with a name. Our first son was super easy, we had his name picked out before we were even married! His name is Austin Center. Austin was the place we went on our first date and DHH proposed on the corner of Center and Spring streets. When we have a girl, her middle name will be Spring.

So now we're trying to come up with another boys name that has a lot of meaning that we like. For a Middle name we've pretty much decided on Thomas, as it's a family name on DHH's side. I've checked the baby name websites and came up with a couple, but the ones I really like are pretty common in most cases.

The ones I like best are Alexander, Abraham, Braden and Broden, with my favorite being Braden, but that seems to be SUPER common. I don't really like the idea of a super common name (Austin was a bit too common but had the story behind it...). What do you think?

Love Abraham.
it's got some great unique nicknames (Abram, Abe, Bram)

Braden, Broden kinda too trendy IMO...
Abraham is a strong name that will carry a kid from birth to old folks home and allow him to make his own name. Braden, Broden might fall out of favour and be able to date someone to being x years old...I just love the solidness of Abraham Thomas....

Braden is way too common for me.

I like your A names.

I also love the name Abraham. Alexander is nice, too, I guess it just depends on which nicknames you favor: Abe and Ham or Alex and Xan.

Plus, those names are more international, they're more likely to be recognized around the world in different languages. They don't peg your boy as being from a particular country, ethnicity, or social class. I know that's important to some people, others want their child's name to very obviously show where he comes from.

If you're one of the latter, well, nothing says early-21st-century America like Braden! :)

Oh! I never thought of nicknaming Abraham Bram! I like that. And I like Xan for Alexander. What other nickname ideas do you guys have??

Braden is totally a soap opera guy name. Run away!

Abraham! Classic, not trendy, great nicknames. To this day I regret not choosing it from our short list.

I really like the A names, partial to Abraham more though. Braden is really trendy right now, plus the names seem to run together after a while, Braden, Caden, Aiden.....

I voted Abraham. It's classic.

Alexander, while a great name (my ds is one), is becoming very popular lately.

Braden is just way too trendy.

Broden is also great. If you like Braden but don't like the popularity of it, Broden is a great alternative.

So if I could have two votes they would be Abraham and Broden.

Love Alexander Thomas - the rest all seem a bit soap opera-ish for me.
