My MIL asked me what is something that all pregnant women would like, but with a price range of under $20. Any ideas?

She may be trying to do something nice for all the pregnant moms we have in the church right now. I think we have 3.

Thanks for any ideas!

I love pregnancy body products like belly cream--but it's hard to pick those out if you don't know whether the woman is sensitive to particular ingredients or whether she likes scents, etc. It's an idea, though.

That's hard. :lol

Baby things or for the mom specifically?

*chocolate
*massages (maybe give a bottle of oil, or foot cream)
*a belly band (at Motherhood for $17) helps you extend your wardrobe
*baby name book (always fun even if you've picked the name IMO)
*Dr Sears Baby Book (my baby Bible)
*coupons to cash in with members for a dinner, could print the rules on the coupon: how much notice to give etc-
*a sling (I have four set of plastic rings FFS) you could easily get material at Walmart, often in the dollar section if someone is crafty

Thanks ladies...

to answer questions, I think it is for the mom specifically, and probably for Mother's Day. So yeah, its just around the corner. Short notice!

I just don't know what to suggest!

A body pillow!!!! Mine was $9 from Target and it was a LIFESAVER especially during the last few months when its so hard to get comfy in bed.

A body pillow could work, although I am one of the pregnant moms and personally, I just don't use many pillows when I am pregnant. They just make me more sore whether it is a body pillow, regular pillows, couch pillows, or expensive pregnancy pillows. But I am probably in the minority in that I don't like extra pillows.

See, that is why it is so hard to think of something that "all" pregnant women would like that is under $20.

Mmm, I want food. I want food to a specialty grocery store, restaurant or desert place. :yum

What doesn't cost much is childcare for older children while the mom goes out by herself or with friends for a couple hours. :thumb

I think a basket of some nice things to remind her that she needs to stop and take care of herself...quit painting the nursery or shopping for baby gear, sit down, drink some chamomile tea, read a great magazine (like Mothering!), and maybe even fall asleep on the couch. It will be the last time you can do that for years, so do it NOW!

Chocolate, plus a copy of an article addressing the study that shows how it's good to have some every day in the third trimester--in an envelope for her partner! :D

Body lotion is good, but I'd probably include a receipt so they can exchange it for their favorite smell in case you get one they don't like. I don't think most people would change it if it was just something they don't normally use, but some smells are really bothersome to some people.

a nice big amount of fresh organic red raspberry leaf tea, perhaps with a nice jar or an infuser included!

A manicure or pedicure! Not sure if that's under $20 as it's been an awfully long time since I had one : /

hmm may have to drop that hint to dh for my day!

That is by FAR the best idea yet!!!! I wish someone had given DH one of those when I was pregnant.:thumb

I'm voting for the chocolate idea It has majority appeal and is a good indulgence, and isn't too expensive. Plus someone needs to do that for me!!:thumb

body pillow or house cleaning. no food or flowers or anything that smells for me thanks! those of us with hyperemesis can't take smells and tastes.

those of us with allergies can't either. it's something to remember when picking something.

if any of them are cloth diaperers, you can get CDs for $20 or less

i'm a major pillow lover when pregnant. we have a huge bed though, so they fit in fine.

a gift certificate

i like a PP's idea of a basket full of great stuff for baby--burp cloths, magazines, advice from all the church mommies in a little scrapbook, small photo album, little socks, etc.

i loved zippered sleepers (so much easier than snaps) and you can get a few of those for under $20

I'd second the PP who said tea! Maybe packaged really nicely... I saw some small flower pots shaped like tea pots at Walmart :blush, maybe something like that with tea and flower seeds in it.
I didn't like chocolate while I was pregnant, but I seem to be in the minority there. :shy SO maybe some of that sprinkled in there too.

I agree with the body pillow idea. Mine has been a life saver in the past 2 weeks.

My vote would be

little baskets with breastfeeding supplies-Lanolin, mother milk tea, nursing pads, breast milk bags if they will be going to work, healthy snacks and mags to read while feeding (stuff like that)

Hand or foot massages

pedicure

gift certificate to a restaurant

But any of the top three I would have loved when pregnant.

cocoa butter for the belly or a nice body butter. A new plant to watch it grow just like our growin' bellies.

we Momma's need to be pampered! Baby stuff is nice, but not everyone NEEDS it, and we all have preferences about fabrics, styles etc. We DO need to be reminded to take care of ourselves and relax though...

what about a gift certificate? i know some people find them impersonal, but i for one love them. that way you can get what *you* want. it could be one of those visa ones that you can use anywhere, that way they can really decide for themselves. they could use it on a pedicure, or a book, or baby clothes, or whatever makes them happy :)

something to pamper her skin, organic lotion, foot scrub, etc. These are things I never want to buy myself because I feel like I'm being selfish if I spend the money on them because it's just for me.

Burt's Bees Mama Oil for the skin (love it!)
