As in, no regular dr. appts.
I have done my last three that way, although I did go to periodic midwife appts. with my third son just because I was living with my mom at the time and she was adament I get "proper prenatal care." I only ever peed in a cup and got weighed and measured.....nothing else.
Of course, if there is a valid reason to warrant a doctors intervention I will absolutly be there.....I have obsessivly educated and informed myself of all risks, symptoms, signs, complications, etc...... This desicion is based on my faith, knowledge and way of life.

There's a UP/UC thread you might want to check out. :)

I haven't decided if I'm going u/p yet. I'm considering UC, so obviously, UP goes with that. I'm just not sure of the logistics yet....birth cert, emergency situation, etc. I'm lucky to have many, many options and homebirth midwives near me.

Still lots of time to consider I guess, I just got my positive result this morning:)

it's interesting to hear your post.

it's my 1st so it makes me nervous to be completely unassisted (even in history women have supported women, right?) but think it's cool how you've done and planned to do the birth.

i haven't had any dr's appt yet (and today is 7 weeks based on 1st day of last period) mostly b/c i haven't yet decided on/found what i want to do.

last week i was leaning towards a birth ctr. and now i'm leaning towards a home birth but that requires meeting some midwives to see who i resonate with.

where are others in the process? particularly 1st timers?

i definitely want to avoid a very medical/interventionist route.

thx, all.
