A while back, probably a couple of months, someone posted a link to a baby name site. It was a site where you could pick a name and then it would pick 5 or 9 other names that were similar. Every time you select a name as a favorite, the site adjusted its suggestions. It also gave origins and meanings. Anyone know what I am talking about? TIA.

Ok - does anyone know this site? I've been trying to find it for WEEKS.
You can input your last name, which sticks at the bottom of the screen. You can "build" your baby's name and have it appear on the screen, and you can save the names in a list. I could have sworn it was some sort of "name-builder" type site but I can't find it on google ANYWHERE. That site had the BEST names...
Hmm, maybe I can check my emails to see if I signed up for an account there...
Any suggestions?

I know www.babynames.com has a 'name list' that you can add first, middle, last, and nick names and it will compile them all in a list for you. You can also then have people vote on it. But other than that I don't know any off the top of my head. Sorry!

Wow - that nymbler is a cool site.
This one may not be the one you were thinking of, but I like that it gives great info on origin, pronunciation etc. Also it has really helpful search functions. For instance, you can enter that you are looking for, say, girl names ending in "-ia" and it will give you scores of names that end that way.

this is my very most favorite baby name thing.
You can see how a name has been (or not been) popular over the last few years.

I really like Baby Names World (http://www.babynamesworld.com/quick-search.html). Some of the meanings I have found to be off compared with some other sites & books I have. But I love that you can click on "suitable as a baby name" and it shows you survey results of people who have that name. This includes comments specifically listing reasons they were picked on or bullied because of their name, as well as if they even like their name. It's really come in handy for us. It shows popularity ranking, and also lists similar names, and I think you can save your favorites.

Nobody? Are you sure? PLEASE help! The name site was in my bookmarks before my computer crashed and now I can't find it anywhere!?!
The others are cool but they aren't as fun to use, and I hate clicking through pages and pages of names. This one had a good selection of names at the top and you could click the name to appear with your last name and then click another for the middle name, and move them around, etc. Gawd, I wish I could find this site!!!

I get so tired of baby name sites. They NEVER have the names I'm thinking of and I honestly don't think my boy names are too strange. (Dresden....I don't think that's odd!) Sure, some of my girl names it's a given they wouldn't be in the database, but it gets especially irritating when they have that list manager option but you can't input your own:bang
Babycakes, that site sounds right up my alley too, I sure hope someone has an idea.:)

THIS QUIZ (http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/namequiz.html), was an awesome resource for me. It helped me figure out the type I liked, then gave me a list of names that were all at least okay with me. Just knowing the way I picked them helped me find them better elsewhere.
I've also always found that older real-life baby name books usually have more accurate and in-depth meaning/association explanations in them, so I'd just plop down on the floor in that aisle of the bookstore for about an hour with a mini-notebook, perusing the best ones! :wink
