Hey ladies. I need some help.

I'm 13 weeks and my CM has been really heavy this whole pregnancy. The OB said its totally normal, nothing at all to worry about.

BUT

Its heavy enough that I HAVE to wear pantie liners. But unless I have a bath everyday, I get super itchy *down there*. Could this be from the CM? I'm really swollen as well and the OB said thats from all the extra blood flow in that area. Maybe the swelling AND the CM AND the crazy hormones could give me some kind of rash? Help.. I don't whats going on or what I could even use to alleviate some of the itchiness, aside from bathing everyday. But not only do I not have the time to do that, I don't have the energy. I mean, I could if I *have* to, but honestly I'd rather just find a way to make this go away. I don't see my OB again for another week.

Does anyone know anything about this?

heavy CM and swelling is supposed to be normal during pregnancy. but perhaps it is possible that you have an infection? i think if i was having that problem i would probably ask them to test for an infection, just to be sure. other than that, i would recommend either using a natural brand of panty liners or cloth panty liners to be sure you're not getting chemical irritation from that, and use wet cloth wipes or wash cloths to wipe down a couple times a day.

I was finding this too and thought perhaps that I had mild thrush. In the end, I just splashed my itchy bits with diluted apple cider vinegar in the shower for a few days and it seems to be much better now. I think the itch is really just cos your vag can't breathe properly with all the cm.
Oh the joys.... :lol

I have itchy issues too. I go without underoo's around the house when I can to let things kind of air out and only use cotton and plain soap. It seems to help.

maybe a cloth pad, i haven't used them but it might be better than the yucky plastic pad.

I have something similar going on at 33 weeks. I thought it was a strange yeast infection that was just affecting the outside rather than inside the vagina. My OB tested me for infections and found nothing. He said that is can be caused by fluctuating hormones and really there is nothing he can do and it will go away after the baby is born. He recommended oatmeal body wash and cotton underwear.

Hmm.. thanks everyone. At least I know I'm not the only one and its always better knowing that someone else knows what you're going through, kwim?

I know its not a yeast infection, tho honestly, I don't know how I can say that since I've never had one. But the itchiness is all external and doesn't itch constantly. I'm pretty sure its caused by the hormones, the swelling and the CM.

I'm not one to go to the doc easily, because I know how much that costs our system (I live in BC where my healthcare is paid for, but I don't abuse that priviledge), so I'd prefer to try some natural, safe home remedies before I go to him.

Again, thanks everyone.

OK.. so just to share...

I saw my OB this morning and he said that alot of women actually get varicose veins on the vaginas!! :bigeyes I don't have them.

I am swollen tho and the extra blood in that area causes it to heat up. Combine that with the CM and the moisture of that area, and yes, you can get a heat rash!! He said to have short baths often to relieve the heat/itchiness. It will probably stay that way for the rest of the pregnancy but its nothing to worry about, just a bit of a discomfort. But hey.. carrying a babe is not about being comfortable is it? :p
