I had a m/c and a d&c 3 months ago. I am currently on my third AF since this has all happened.
My periods have been regular although this past cycle was only 27 days.
My periods have been lasting longer than they did pre m/c. I am also bleeding more and the blood is bright red.
I never had periods like this prior to the m/c so it causes me some concern.
Any thoughts ladies????

I had a very similar experience. My periods were very red with lots of clotting, heavy and lasted much longer than normal. I talk to my doula who also teaches NFP and she said this was probably just my body's way of adjusting back to normal and cleaning out the uterus to prepare for future pregnancies. I think what you are experiencing is probably fairly normal but follow your intuition and speak with your doctor or midwife if you are very concerned about it.

I did not have a d&c, but af is also bright red now. It used to be darker, and now it looks like I have an actual wound (thinner, more like blood then menses). I am not sure what is going on, but I think I am ok. It is not heavier or longer. I had a pelvic after the loss, and everything looked fine. I am assuming it is just part of the healing.
I'm on my second cycle since my d&c and my periods have been much heavier and bright red also. My periods were pretty heavy after my natural m/c's as well. The bright red thing kind of weirds me out too. I have an appt for my annual pap and all that next month so I guess I'll talk to the mw then.

Oh yeah- I should have mentioned that too- I didn't have a d&c either, so that could be a difference there.

My normal AF is always bright red, then gets darker towards the end. The only difference I had after my D&C was cycle length. I had two really long cycles and then back to normal length.

On Wednesday the blood changed color to a darker red and stopped being heavy. Now I am just spotting.
It was so bad on Wednesday during the day that I felt lightheaded and thought I was going to faint when I sat up from going to the bathroom.
I would totally expect this right after the m/c & d&c but 3 months later (3 periods later)???
I'm not concerned unless it intereferes with conceiving again.
I just thought it was strange to go through such changes at this stage.

I would add in some extra iron (or cook with cast iron pans) right when you start spotting. It sounds like you were getting very anemic, and this will remedy that for you. I believe it is fairly common for women to need to supplement with iron during af (at least that is what I have been told).

I usually take 25mg of iron on top of:
Prenatals, omega 3-6-9, vit D 1000mg, calcium
You are probably right it was some sort of anemia because things were so heavy. *shrug*
