I guess I'll go first:

1. Who are you?

My name is Gillian, I am 25 years old, and this is my first pregnancy :love

2. Who are the most significant people in your life?

Definitely my wonderful husband. Also, my best friend and my parents.

3. How do you spend your time?

At the moment we just moved back to Canada after living in NC for a year and a half. So for the next little while I'll be job hunting and house hunting.

4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy?

It took over a year of ttc to conceive this little baby so right now it's just unbelieve to think that I'm actually pregnant. I'm a little concerned because my hpts today weren't any darker then the one 2 days ago. I've read that that's common, but it is still unnerving. I just hope that everything is fine and that in 9 months I give birth to a healthy baby :D.

5. If you had to describe yourself in three words, which would they be?

Passionate, Caring, Excited (I am no longer a worrier!)

1. Who are you? Amanda, I just turned 30 in April and I'm still adjusting!

2. Who are the most significant people in your life? My amazing dh and boys. Dh farms and takes care of the boys during the winter. Eli, almost 5, is our energetic deep-thinker. Clay, 3 next month, is our laidback little cowboy. My sister and one other close friend are the only other ones who know about this pregnancy so far.

3. How do you spend your time? I teach HS math during the year and stay home thru the summer. Along with playing with my boys, I like to bake, garden and quilt. We love spending lots of time outdoors as a family.

4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy? I'm truly excited! I'm planning a hands-off hospital birth (had a great one last time), to nurse again and try my hand at newborn cloth diapering. We only did cloth post 6 mo with the boys, so I'm anxious to hear about the best little diapers. I hope to stay clear of morning sickness, I was lucky with my first 2, but if throwing up means a little girl, than I'll take it. I'm desperatly trying not to hope too hard for a girl this time.

5. If you had to describe yourself in three words, which would they be? Optimistic, dedicated and currently very exhausted!

2. Who are the most significant people in your life? My partner, Andy. My mum, stepdad, brothers, sister in law, and dad. My dog, Henry.
3. How do you spend your time? I do various kinds of work things (copy editing, dissertating, working part time in a sleep lab), Now that the nice weather is here I like to sit and read or play a game on the porch. I watch some television (mostly series rented through netflix). I like drinking tea and doing yoga (although I really need to start that up again...I've had kind of a lull in my practice).
4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy? First, I just want this one to stick. I seem to have an easy time conceiving (we weren't even trying this time), but I'm not sure about my ability to stay pregnant. Second, I really want a homebirth. Cost is the only thing precluding it although my insurance should still pay for part of it. Finally, when the baby is here I plan to breastfeed, babywear, co-sleep, and use cloth diapers.
5. If you had to describe yourself in three words, which would they be?
Intellectual, neurotic, weird.

I'm Paige. I'm a 30 yr old wohm. I'm an archaeologist, but I'm stuck behind a computer most of the time (Indiana Jones, I am not).

2. Who are the most significant people in your life?

My husband, my daughter, my parents and my sister.

3. How do you spend your time?

Unfortunately working too much of the time, but when I'm not doing that I love to read, camp, hike, and hang out at my parents' house (only partly because of the food:p)

4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy?

I'm very excited about the pregnancy, but nervous about the birth. I really very much want a VBAC. I can't wait to see my daughter with her little brother or sister.

5. If you had to describe yourself in three words, which would they be?

3. How do you spend your time? I chase my little ones, I have a dairy cow, some pet goats, chickens, a garden, I knit and quilt, I cook all of our meals from scratch and I just made my most perfect loaf of bread ever!
4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy? I want to go with out pain meds really bad this time. I haven't been able to do that yet for a couple of stupid reasons- so this time I want to see what I am capable of!

Being a wife and a mother...taking care of the household things so my husband doesn't have to since he works so hard for us all day. I feel like I breastfeed more than anything else! I also like reading alot on birth, particularly homebirth since I am a big advocate.

I don't have any fears. I am very confident with the pregnancy. I just am working hard to achieve the homebirth that wan't achieved last time.

Hi! :wave I'm Shana. I'm in Charlotte, NC and pregnant with #2. I had a homebirth the last time, and am planning to "use" the same mw this time around. Wouldn't do it any other way if I can help it! I don't really know my EDD, but probably the first few days of Feb is pretty accurate. As accurate as due dates go, anyway.

I actually haven't even told DH about this yet... I think this weekend will be a good time. It's been so bloody hot and everyone's so cranky- even DS won't nap like he usually does.

I'm a little surprised to be pregnant. We were planning to start trying next month and then we realized I was already pregnant. It makes me feel quite grown-up to be expecting my second child. I'm working to come to grips with the fact that I'll have two children by this time next year. I don't really have any fears about the pregnancy, and my dream is that it will be an easy pregnancy ending in a quick labor and smooth homebirth. I am thrilled to be going through all this again, and I can't wait to start feeling that little one move around in there!

My Family! DH, DD, 7, DS, 4, and DD 2. Our extended family is also very important to us. We live near my parents, ad my brother's family and DH's sister's family. We are in driving distance of DH's parents and brother. We believe strongly that family is the most important thing!

3. How do you spend your time?

How do I spend my time or how do I want to be spending my time? :lol I spend my time doing laundry (it seems endless!), cleaning, cooking from with natural organic ingredients as much as possible and I homeschool. I love to knit, garden, read and study.

4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy?

I'm really excited. I've always wanted four children. DH was uncertain at first and needed a little persuasion to go along with another pregnancy. But now we are both very excited, though a little nervous about sharing the news with our families because money is a little tight (okay a lot) and they are going to be very worried for us. I'm also nervous about feeling sick and tired for a couple of months. I love pregnancy, at least after the first trimester!

You weren't asking me specifically, but I'm an advocate of homebirth so I thought I could help. I really like The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer and Gentle Birth Choices (I don't know who wrote that).

If you are interested in homebirth, I recommend finding a homebirth midwife (or 3) in your area and going to talk with them. They all do free consultations and will answer your questions. In the meantime, watch Business of Being Born and read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth.

You could also ask questions of local doulas. Many of them will know some or all area midwives.

I'm Christine. I'm 32. I'm mama to 2, with #3 on the way! I'm a birth doula and childbirth educator. I'm hoping to do some 3rd-wheel midwife assisting this summer at some homebirths. I also just finished my PhD (conceived 2 weeks after I finished) and will continue doing some research and teaching part-time until #3 is born. Oh, and my babies come early, so there is a very good chance this baby will arrive in January.

Time is spent at school (used to be a student, now a faculty-type), at births, teaching classes, and with the kids. And online. :)

4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy?

I feel pretty awesome about this pregnancy and birth. I've had 2 home waterbirths, so anticipate this will be the same. I've asked a friend to be my midwife this time. She's just an apprentice (and will be supervised by my old midwife), but I'm really excited to give her this opportunity. Plus, I could have babies in my sleep. Only thing I'm the slightest bit concerned about is diabetes. As of the last year, I'm pre-diabetic and so am not sure what my blood sugar will do this time.

For the last two years my son has had my entire heart and I'm having a great deal of difficulty imagining sharing it with another baby. Some times I'm pretty damn excited and other times I wake in the middle of the night thinking, " MY GOD! WHAT HAVE WE DONE!!" I'm afraid to wean my son or kick him out of my bed because we have an intimacy that I'm clinging to, knowing that he's male and will one day no doubt be repulsed by cuddling with his mom in general...

I have almost no symptoms yet, so I am in denial still. Maybe sore boobs, but otherwise? Well, no period! I keep saying to my husband..."if I am pregnant, then...". I am excited/nervous. Young babyhood was not an easy time for me with my first, and I remember occasional middle of the night promises to myself that I would not do this again, but here we are! I really do want another child, though. Dreaming of a home birth this time!! Yay! My husband didn't even flinch when I told him what I was thinking. SWEET! I am planning to see a local nurse midwife practice for prenatals and back up if needed. But, this is all new to me. Last time I used the local nurse-midwife practice, and ended up with many interventions, although still acheived a vaginal birth, thankfully. Not so satisfied with that birth experience.

What are your present thoughts/feelings/dreams/ideas/fears about this pregnancy? I'm thrilled. We've been TTC for 2 1/2 years and have been fighting infertility. I'm still amazed we're pregnant! I just can't wait to have a happy healthy baby in my arms.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be? tired, nauseous, thrilled

4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy?
Losing this pregnancy is my biggest fear--I've already lost a baby at 41 weeks during labor (likely due to medical error), and then twins at 5 weeks likely due to a clot from my essential thrombocythemia. I'm seeing a hematologist at Ohio State University and a perinatologist at Ohio State University to hopefully help catch problems, but a clot can happen so quickly--it's scary.

Wow thank you both for helping. I didn't know where to begin which is why I didn't even know what questions to ask for. I'd like to know all my options and things I can do. So thanks again, I'll definetely be buying those books and watch that movie. Actually when I was in the TTC thread all of the mammas there recommended the BBB movie:)

Hi, I'm Amanda. I'm 29 and this is my first pregnancy. Most of my time these days is spent: 1.working on my online degree 2.learning everything i can about natural pregnancy and natural childbirth 3.working at my job. (I'm a nurse whose hates the way we do healthcare in this country...kind of strange.) Anyway, the most important people in my life are my husband, friends and family. My husband and I are both thrilled and excited about this pregnancy, but also a little scared. I'm 5 1/2 weeks and I've been bleeding lightly almost since the beginning, and I'm not sure what that's all about. So I wake up every morning preparing myself for the worst, but still picking out baby names and comparing cloth diapers. I think a little optimism probably goes a long way.

1. Who are you?

I am Courtney. SAHM of two girls. I am 26 years old. I am hopelessly in love with my dh still, after soon to be 6 years of marriage. "Um, what else. I'd like to go back to school eventually, I miss school.My favorite color is orange, but i don't usually like to wear it, unless it is a burnt orange.

2. Who are the most significant people in your life?
Jewely who is 5 and just finished her 2nd year of school. Jewely is funny, intelligent, creative and loves to sing and perform. (she makes up her own songs, which her little sister is now doing). She can be quite trying and favors her Dad over me, blatantly so. I don't let her know it makes me a little sad. Oh and the reason she is trying is b/c she has all those qualities that will serve her so well as an adult, but make it difficult for a child's parents. There for I try to appreciate them and not squash them.
Josephine is my two year old. She also likes to sing and make up songs, but by far she likes dancing better. It is hilarious to let her watch people dancing b/c she copies them. I especially enjoyed when she watched a pop locker (you know that new robot dance). Josephine is a numbers girl where Jewely is a words girl. She is the cuddly one and prefers me to Chris (my DH) He tries not to mind. She likes Princess, Bugs and pirates. Both girls are dare devils. Once she told me she was going to run away and become a pirate, she would run away to a boat on the sea. Her favorite animals are the giraffe, the penguin, the owl, and the rhino beetle.
My DH is Chris we have been married almost 6 years and as I said above I am still soo crazy about him, although he can be annoying. (kind of like me). He is a plumber for now but hoping to start his own business, plumbing and doing solar water heating, and then in two years branching out into solar electricity. Politically we are opposites, but mostly we try not to argue about it.
The other really important people to me are my sisters. My mom is mostly an alcoholic and not so dependable. But i depend on my sisters. They are my best friends and are so helpful. They don't have kids yet and therefore adore and lavish my kids with attention. Take me out when I need a break and are always there (well mostly) when I need to talk to someone. They are not so crunchy and sometimes get on me for parenting practices, but like I said they don't have kids yet. Someday they'll figure it out.




3. How do you spend your time?
Way to much time on the computer. :o Trying to limit it. I like reading, doing crafts, cooking, and projects with the kids. Being outside (but i hate the Florida heat, uggh!), hiking especially, I wish i had mountains. we like music, conerts (outside free ones mostly) and dancing to music in the house. I also enjoy sewing, but have a mental block against it if my house is messy, like it is right now.



4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy?
Hungry. :wink I am excited and nervous. I love how excited my girls are and how they talk to the baby and hug and kiss it.



5. If you had to describe yourself in three words, which would they be?

1. Who are you? Rachael. 27 year old Mom to 13.5 month son and wife to Chef/Student DH. I work full time outside the home, but my husband will graduate before baby #2 arrives and hopefully I will be able to stay home and work on my own business (freelance writing).

2. Who are the most significant people in your life? My family and a few close friends. It is amazing what a supportive community can do for you. They lift me up when I am down and cheer me on when things are great. I really appreciate my DH and all the wonderful things he does for me and our family even when he is in school full time and working part time, his energy and love for us are amazing.

3. How do you spend your time? Work, Church and Home. I work in financial services and freelance write on the side, takes about 50 hours a week right now but will be worth it in a year. We volunteer on the welcoming team at our church and we serve once a month by helping greet others, we love being with those people and helping them enjoy such a great community. When I am home I love sitting on the floor in my sons room and playing and reading. My husband and I both enjoy food! We spend our date nights trying all kinds of food from the local hole in the wall to the five star place downtown!


4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy? I am excited to be pregnant, last time I was terrified. I am sad for my son, I feel like we should have more time together. I love him SO MUCH it is hard to think of sharing him. Despite my sad feelings I am REALLY EXCITED to be having another baby. My husband and I have been praying for "both kids" and it seems so exciting. I am also excited that this will mark a new chapter in our lives. I plan on working on my own business (I have to work because we are in a high cost of living area) and can't wait to be spending time at home with the kids instead of dressing up for the commute downtown every day. It will also be the first time in our married lives that my DH will not be in school :D

I am B, I am 24 and a WAHM to a spectacular 27 month old! I am a seamstress so when she is sleeping I am sewing. I am VERY excited for the arrival of #2!!!! We were planning to TTC this fall but I am more than happy to start early :love

3. How do you spend your time?Playing with a 2 year old and sewing! I also like to sneak in some reading here and there and I love cooking and baking, oh.....and once in awhile I clean :p

I am beyond excited. Our fist was an opps (of course the best oops EVER) so I get to see this time around how good it feels to KNOW you want this and not have to be so stressed!
I really want to have another natural birth but this time a water home-birth. i am really excited to meet with my midwives and pick one. Other than that all I want is a h&h 9 months! Though......I am already antsy to find out the sex which I am debating this time because of the creepy ultrasound. I believe its a boy because of these crazy reoccurring dreams I was having before I took the test about a bison talking to me....
I am also excited for DD to become a big sister!

5. If you had to describe yourself in three words, which would they be?

I am so excited about this pregnancy! Looking forward to a truly amazing birth this time. Last time was fantsastic, easy and only 2 hours of real "work" to it, but there was still room for improvement. So this time will be EVEN better! As far as fears, I am not giving them energy right now. I'm just reveling in my excitement. :)

I am so suprised!!! I knwo we are fertile with BFP on both firts month tries with ds and dd but this was an oops! I'm sure it will be fine though!

~After many losses there are still lingering fears about miscarrying again. I am praying for a healthy long pregnancy :) and a beautiful empowering homebirth of a healthy happy baby.

Hi, all :)

1. Who are you? Renee, I'm 39 (will be 40 when this bean arrives), a SAHM to 26 month old Guinevere.

2. Who are the most significant people in your life? My husband, my daughter, my mother, and my friends.

3. How do you spend your time? Playing/interacting with Guinevere, keeping the house cleanish, dealing with our four pets, and surfing the net.

4. What are your present thoughts/feelings/ideas/dreams/fears about this pregnancy? Fears: That it won't stick. That I'll not have the energy required for it (since Winnie doesn't nap at all anymore). That Guinevere will want to continue nursing throughout the whole pregnancy. That my age will end up a factor and the baby could have issues. That I won't have a positive birth experience. Hopes: That the fears are silly and won't be realized. Feelings: Cautious excitement. Stunned, really.

It took us about two years to get pregnant the first time. It took two months of not NOT trying, so we were very shocked that it happened so fast.

I got the positive result today. :) My EDD is Feb 17.

I can't use just three words. I suck at being concise. :p But I'd say obsessively research oriented would be a good start. ;)

I am terrified I won't be able to get into my midwife (I just called). I really dislike my doctor. I am excited about newborn cd'ing since we started when ds was 4 months last time. I am glad that I am not as nauseas with this one so far. I am so hungry all the time though and I am hoping I do not gain an atrocious amount since I was already 5 pounds heavier prepg this time. I want to try cosleeping again as it did not work with ds. I would love an hbac but just a vbac at all unassisted would be nice.

I'm Millicent, 29 (30 in august!) and have 2 kiddos who are 6 and 4. I have had the baby itch for a little while now, and never felt like our family was complete. So, this is a wonderful suprise! I am due Feb 15th, but tend to go a little early.
I live in MD with hubby and kids. I love to read, garden, and we're pretty involved in our church.
I am so excited about this pregnancy. I had a wonderful midwife with my 2nd and am using her again, but she only delivers in the local hospital. I would love, love to use a birth center but there aren't any near us. I am praying that this baby grows nice and healthy. I also get very, very sick for the first trimester so that makes me a little nervous, but i'm glad that my kids are a little older and self-sufficient (for the most part).

I've been lurking on this thread since our first positive home test just over a week ago. Three more pee sticks agreed since then, and today we got the results from yesterday's beta: 1457! So ... here we are, officially.

Who are you?
I'm starling, DP is diesel. I'm a paramedic, as well as an author. DP is a chef.
We live in a small mountain town in BC, Canada.

My DP ... she's about as good as it gets!

We're pregnant for the first time -- using donor embryos -- after an infertility diagnosis going back many years. So I feel blessed, and cautious.
I'm excited about being a mama, and afraid that something will go wrong with the pregnancy. Maybe I'll breath a little easier after the first ultrasound, on July 2nd.

I'm very excited, and I'm hoping DH will be soon too, as this was a bit of a shock to him, even though we were planning to start TTC in a few months anyway. This baby is a result of a fun vacation. ;)

I'm hoping this is a girl, as I really really really want to sew for a girl. But really that's the ONLY reason I want a girl. I love boys, so I'd be happy with a boy. I'd just have to sew for someone else's girls then. ;) I am nervous about the family though... they put a lot of pressure on me because they want a girl. My MIL wants a girl so she can sew (I don't let her sew for my boys, as she does NOT sew trendy boy stuff like I do, and I'm not into boutique type boy clothes, which is what she would want to do), and DH is an only child. On my side of the family, there are now 5 grandsons, but thankfully, my parents aren't pushy and likely won't say a word. It's MIL's side of the family that will be putting pressure on me. So I will TRY not to hurt anyone for badgering me about the gender before my 20 week u/s. :p

I'm also slightly worried about the baby sticking, since I had a light period last week, but given that my symptoms seem to be growing (and my belly!), I think things are ok so far. :)
