Suggestions for Pain from old tear?

I tore very badly towards the back in my first birth and not at all in the others. I was stitched up and a few days later my stitches ripped out when I coughed. I begged the doctor to sew me up again but he said there was to much risk of infection. Sometimes I go for months without pain and then it bothers me so much. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

I was told I could have a surgery to close the tissues that are open but not until I am done having babies. I know we want to have one more in a few years. Any thoughts or experiences?

I just saw a thread on this a couple days ago, where someone who's a massage therapist (I think) was suggesting perineal massage for vaginal scar tissue. I will take a look and see if I can find the thread.

You might want to see if you can get a referral to a physical therapist who does pelvic floor work/massage therapy, maybe you can get some professional help.

Oh Rommi....wah :hug. I second the suggestion to go the physical therapy route.

When I saw my cnm post-partum and was all prolapsy, she suggested that I come in again for a referral to a special gyno physical therapist if my pelvic floor didn't tighten up on its own. My cnm thought very highly of this woman and thought I would like her, too.

I did not see the special gyno pt, but I never knew such a specialty exisited!

hi..i recently suffered a 4th degree tear..1 cm into the rectum. i had a beautiful 4 hour homebirth, pushing was fierce . the baby was nuchal arm, shoulder dystocia and 10 pounds 6 oz. i had to be transported to the hospital for repair. after 3 natural childbirths, 2 at home..now i get an epiodural for the repair. although i don't think i would have made it through that repair without one!anyway, its 4 months later, and i have healed well. any chance i will have another natural childbirth in your opinions?
the surgeon says no.of course.please advise.
