Hi everyone,
I'm new here.... I found out last week that my baby stopped developing at 6 weeks. That would be about 6 weeks ago now, but I still haven't had a m/c. I would prefer to wait for my body take care of this itself, but it seems like it is taking a really long time to respond! I have had the slightest traces of spotting the last couple of days but it comes and goes and I only notice because I am searching for a sign. How long did it take others to miscarry after the baby stopped? Is 6 weeks normal? How much longer? :eyesroll
This feels like frustrating limbo... not pregnant anymore, but carrying around the reminder that I can't get pregnant again until my body let's go.... sigh.
Thanks :o
I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had 3 m/c's and the average time from fetal demise to m/c was about 3 weeks. I know with some women it does take longer. If there are no signs of infection you should be able to let your body do it's thing.:hug

:Hug I am sorry for your loss. It went very quickly for me. The baby stopped developing right around the time the bleeding started.

shantiani, I'm so sorry. :( I had something very similar happen to me--at 10+ weeks, I found out the little one had stopped developing around 6 weeks. For me, I found out on a Monday, started spotting on Wednesday, and the actual miscarriage happened on Friday, at exactly 11 weeks. So it seems that for me spotting was a sign that my body had figured it out.

HUGS IM so sorry for your loss.
I went for my 13 week check up to find the baby stopped growing at 12.5 weeks:( I waited 1 week) started having ctx and spotting. I opted for the D&C I knew my body was "in labor" but couldnt handle the process.
I have read that some people can wait up to 6-8 weeks with no signs.

I waited for months. It is not common, but not unheard of either. I had found a few people online who miscarried at 18-20 weeks so I thought... I can do that, and stuck it out. But I kept going and going... All I had was a bit of brown spotting. My hcg was under 20 (neg. pregnancy test) within a couple of months, so I and the doc thought my body had reabsorbed. I waited for AF... and waited... and waited. Well, it turns out I did not reabsorb anything. I started lightly spotting brown again as I believe the sac finally broke down. Then I passed the embryo. A couple of weeks after that, I had my first cramps and started the first bleeding of my m/c. I thought it was finally AF, but it kept going for 3 weeks. Then all of a sudden I had major cramping again and passed the placenta. I would have been about 35 wks at that point. CRAZY. Like I said, that doesn't usually happen so don't let it scare you. It was a long, confusing experience, but I'm still glad I waited. I was at a point where I was trusting God to return my fertility at the right time as I was nursing my DD and wasn't in a hurry to TTC again. I also wanted to avoid a D&C. Whatever you decide, you just have to do what feels right for you. I started my first cycle 2 weeks after passing the placenta and I ovulated normally. I conceived again on the 3rd cycle.

Well, I'm finally feeling relieved to have it over (I think it's over anyway!)
I started bleeding last Monday... it was more than spotting but less than a regular period... and that lasted until Saturday. I had no idea if that was it or if more was coming, but then Sat night I finally started cramping up and bleeding very very heavily. The pain was bad but not unbearable (similar to when I had very bad menstrual cramps as a teenager) and the bleeding eventually slowed to after a few hours. Since Sat, I've still been bleeding much heavier than normal but I'm hoping it will start to slow down and turn into a normal period over the course of this week.
I'm glad it has happened so I can spend the month recovering, eating well, and getting into shape, and so that next month I can relax and let fate (and fertility!) take its course.
