View Full Version : When To Test?

I've had two chemical pregnancies. Each one was lost right when I hit the 6-week mark.
I think I'm pregnant again, but I'm having a hard time knowing (taking progesterone). I am thinking of waiting to test this time until after the 6-week mark. Part of me just doesn't want to deal with knowing I'm pregnant, getting excited, and then losing the pregnancy so quickly again. And part of me feels like I'm jinxing it by testing too early (yes, I'm crazy).
Is it safe to wait a while to test or should I just bite the bullet and take a pregnancy test next week?

If you are already on progesterone that's good. Usually those early losses are a progesterone deficiency or a thyroid issue. I hope things work out well. :hug I guess test when you feel most comfortable.

I think I'm going to try to wait til my husband returns from his business trip (on the 25th)...or at least that week. That will be around CD 38 (my previous pregnancies ended on CD 40). It'll still be exciting if it's positive and it'll be good to know I'm pregnant (in case I m/c again), but hopefully we won't get as revved up as we did last time and hopefully we won't be as disappointed if it doesn't stick.
If I'm actually pregnant, I swear I'm not telling my parents until the second trimester. During my last pregnancy, my mom blabbed to my grandmother (the family gossip) even though I specifically asked it'd be kept it within the immediate family (other parents and siblings). It sucked! My grandmother told EVERYONE. Then she wrote me a long letter about miscarriages when I lost the pregnancy. I know she was trying to be nice, but I don't know her very well so it was sort of weird, and I just wanted to put the m/c behind me. Now, my teenage cousin is using it as an excuse to why she got knocked up. She claimed she worried she'd have fertility issues if she "waited too long" like me (she's 17 and just dropped out of high school). :angry

I totally understand. We won't be telling parents until the second trimester either.

Wow, sorry about your cousin. That would be really difficult for me, if someone exploited my loss in that way. We also will not be telling family until close to the second trimester. At least 10 weeks anyway.

Oh, geez. I've never been patient... I'm only on CD 26. We made an appointment to get a bloodtest on Monday, but me (being my impulsive crazy self) had dip a stick tonight. I used one of the the Target tests...
There is a very faint + sign on it. :)

Thank you!!!! :D
I hope this one sticks. I hope this one sticks. I hope this one sticks.
^^^This is my mantra til CD 40, and then I'll still use it (but a little less) until the second trimester.
I so want my husband to be excited with me, but he's just grinning and said "I told you so." I get symptoms really early and really intense (including insane mood swings) so he calls me the "biggest pregnancy test ever."
