Anyone do anything special for Loving Day, celebrating the legalization in America of interracial marriage?
I only learned about it this year, but as our kids get older I would like to at least acknowledge the day and maybe delve into the history a little as part of homeschooling.
Just curious if anyone else has any neat ideas.

When is it?
On a side note... Isn't it just so cute that the couple who fought for it happened to be Mr and Mrs Loving (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loving_v._Virginia).:love

It was the 12th of this month. I was just curious if anyone else even knew about it. I didn't hear anything about events in our city, and I wonder if it's a newish celebration.
I do love the coincidence of the name. :love

According to the website, this was the 5th annual Loving Day, so yeah it's pretty new.

There was a celebration here in NYC at a club, but DH and I didn't make it. It's a nice idea.
I wish people knew more about the Lovings and their contribution to civil rights.
As a side note, Mildred Loving died only a couple of months ago.

Isn't that interesting that their last name was "Loving". As though their sole purpose in life was to teach that two people in love, are not defined by the color of their skin, or their race, but by the love in their hearts.
The only thing I know to do to celebrate is to make the world aware that love is color blind.

Didn't even know about it......but it was our 9th anniversary, so yeah, we did something special! Living in the South, this was really a social milestone---it's kind of hard to believe that it would actually be illegal for us to be married.

I did not know about it either... it is a day after our 15 year meeting anniversary. We will definitely celebrate next year, God willing!!:)

I saw the movie. It was scary to think that it would have been illegal for DH and I to marry.
