Hi everyone,
I'm new, 4 weeks and 2-3 days along. I just saw my doctor today and he performed a vaginal ultrasound but he didn't see the gestational sac.
He said not to worry but I'm leaving for a slew of family events next week and I won't see him again until after July 4th--so, naturally, I'm worried.
Blood tests aren't due until tomorrow. Big Sigh.
For those with babies already, when did you first see something on your U/S?
Thanks.

Hey Heinz, I have the same first experiance. I was a day shy of 5 weeks and nothing could be seen, but my DR. said he typically doesnt see anything before 5 1/2 weeks. Im going in tomarrow, ( 1 week later) and will be a day shy of 6 weeks so we will see! I head you on the blood test waiting... I went last friday and had to wait untill monday night to hear! Agh so frustrating! Dont be discouraged at 4 weeks everything is still just too small! But by July there will be alot more to see!

I've never had an early u/s but from what I understand 4 weeks is DEFINITELY too early to see anything, and you really have no reason to worry at all! :hug
I'm sure more knowledgeable Mamas will chime in here, but even 6 weeks can be too early to see a baby. I really wouldn't worry about it.
(sorry, didn't mean to ddc crash, just saw this in the new posts list :o)

Crashing from July DDC....
With my first, I was having really bad cramping, so my OB did an early transvag u/s just to make sure it wasn't tubal. The first time at 4w 6d, they could not see anything. I went in again 2 weeks later and we saw the sac AND a fluttering HB! End of story? My DD just turned 6 in April! :love Good luck! (nd most of all, good luck with the waiting! It's terrible, isn't it?? :hug)

Sorry, not even pregnant, but had to comment. It is typical to not see anything (even with vag u/s) til 6-7 weeks. Try to relax, ok? I know it's hard.

You shouldn't be able to see a gestational sac until at least 4.5 weeks, and your dating may be a few days off and thus it's not even supposed to be seen yet. Even if you are really 4w2d, it would be normal to not see anything.

Honestly, I am suprised your doc did such a scan that early. I have never seen or heard anything with my dc until 12-13 weeks when I was able to hear the heartbeat with a doppler. Relax if you can....it was likely just too early.

I had a vaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks with DD and she was just a wee speck. Literally. Like as small as this * and we could even see the tiniest little flicker of a heartbeat, even then. Aw, goddess it makes me tear up, thinking about her just being a wee flicker of life and now she is my amazing 16 month old daughter.
Sorry, I went off on a crazy pregnant woman hormone tirade.
At 4 weeks I cannot even imagine you would be able to see anything. The whole deal, sack, fetal pole and and all would be as small as a . at the most.

I'm coming over from the Jan DDC. During my second pregnancy I had a U/S at 5 weeks and they didn't see anything in my sac. At 7 weeks they were able to see my now 7 yr old DD.
I'm wondering why he did the U/S so early. I had mine to check my due date because my uterus was measuring early. Turns out I always measure early.

Unless your HCG is 1200-2000, then I don't think you can see even a sack this early... I saw a sack with my first at 5 1/2 weeks, but my numbers were almost 6000 then.

Hey Ladies,
Thank you so much for replying so fast. I know I'm being neurotic, just needed some support and I gotta spread it around sometimes. My husband definitely doesn't need to hear it this early, right?
Thinking positive as I wait for these blood results!

I'm a first time mom too and just had an u/s this week at 6 weeks exactly. We saw a sack and fetal pole but no heartbeat. what I've learned is that the u/s tech doesn't have the best bed side manner and totally freaked me out. I've taken the advise of the ladies here and decided to relax and trust my body. We are doing a second u/s next Tuesday. I think like me it was just too early to see what we expected and wanted to see. I know I went in with great anticipation. Good luck with the wait...the hardest part.

I'm sure you'll see a cute lil baby in there in July. With my daughter I didn't see a dr until 12 weeks and they did the internal u/s then. I don't think I'll be able to get in to the dr until at least 8 weeks with this one.
