I know we have or had a great thread on what supplements everyone was taking after their loss for ttc but I was wondering about diet. I know my PMS has been horrible since the m/c, and so I"m trying to see if there are any dietary changes I can make. Anyone have a good diet that they follow?
Right now: I avoid alchohol and caffeine, we don't eat red meat and all other meats are organic or at least pastured. Organic dairy, lots of fresh fruits and veggies and many of them raw. Just finally found a brand of whole grain pastas I can stand (the yellow Barilla kind). This doesn't mean I don't cheat but I have an overall good diet. I'm just trying to see if there are some trigger foods people know of to avoid when ttc, especially after loss as I know the body really needs to build back up.
So please share how you eat, what you avoid, etc. and hopefully we can all learn together.

I recently heard that too much Vit C can cause your CM to dry up- so I guess that would be something to keep in mind when thinking baout your diet.

That's good to know! I think I probably do get a lot through my pre-natal vits and all those fruits and veggies. I could try to cut down a bit during O time.

I stick to our vegan diet, no dairy or meat. That seems to help me a lot feel all around better. I try to plan my meals around the veggie and add what else might be needed. I conceived my last two pregnancies on this diet in the first couple of months of trying.
This is a good question. I just saw a nautropath last week and she is really into the eat right for your blood type diets. I guess there is a specific eat right for your blood type fertility diet. She recommended I try it so I just ordered the book off amazon.

Interesting. I'm type O and in the amazon description it says to eat beef and lamb, two meats we don't eat. I wonder if there is a connection. Let me know what you think of the book overall and I might buy it.

I follow the Eat Right 4 Your (blood) Type. I have for quite a few years now. My blood type is type A secretor. I've not specifically used the Eat Right for Your Baby book, though I have it. The diet is pretty similar and I don't eat the avoid things anyway so that helps.
I love this diet, as it's helped me with my allergies, joint problems, tinitus, and overall well being.
The hardest part about this diet is the changes. I ate only my beneficial foods for 2 weeks and then had an "avoid" meal. MAN, could I tell a difference and I was so sold, I've not gone back. Honestly, I only eat beef or pork when I don't have a choice (visiting someone for dinner). My body can tell an avoid straight off, so I'm super careful now.
In conjunction with that, I'm taking a good multi-prenatal (Rainbow Lite), fish oil, extra folic acid, vit D, and a pro-biotic. My digetstion is just singing along.
Amy: One of the biggest things that O's should avoid is wheat and corn. Both are very inflamatory for your type. Incidentally, both are avoids for my type too (I actually follow his most recent work: The GenoType Diet) and the only grains I eat are Oats, Brown Rice and Spelt - though I can eat quinoa too.
Very interesting, olerica. Thanks for posting that. We are mostly vegetarian (we eat some fish but no other meat) and I was worried my type (AB) was going to stress meat but it doesn't thankfully. I was honestly a little skeptical but after hearing your experiences I'm going to give it a real try. Did you just switch to only the beneficial stuff right away? What about the neutral stuff, do you allow all that too?

My mom is a AB, so I have some basic knowledge of that diet. Yes, fish is a great thing for AB's.
Dr. D'Adamo (the author) has stated that it's best to emphasize the beneficials in your diet - over avoiding the avoids - though those who practice the diet would say to really be vigilant about the top avoids for your type (I think for AB's it's chicken, wheat and corn) as those are purvasive in the SAD (standard american diet).
I was trying to convince my DH to try it, that's why we did the cold-turkey for the two weeks (he's a B). He improved so much over those two weeks of no avoids for breakfast and dinner (the meals that I controlled) that he kept up the diet when he did a Master's program overseas with out me to cook!
View the food lists like this:
Beneficial - like medicine for your body, aim for 80% of your foods from this list
Neutral - acts as food for the body, neither bad nor good. Suppliment your diet from this list.
Avoids - Try to stay away from these foods. Some of us use this as a "never eat" list, some of us view this as a "special occasion, I miss my mother's cooking" thing.
There's a pretty great community over at www.dadamo.com that is really supportive. I post as Olerica there too.

I'm going to see if I can get this book through the library first to preview it. It sounds really great. Also my DH, my son and I are all O+ so it would be easy to feed us all the same thing
