i'm 5 weeks today and noticed some VERY light brown, very light spotting when i wiped after peeing just a few minutes ago.
i had this with my twins but it was more like 10 weeks. it lasted less than a day and never happened again.
i also had it 2 months ago when i miscarried though. that time it went from light brown spotting to light bleeding a few days later and then eventually to heavy bleeding and cramping.
oh, and i haven't had sex with my husband in days so it's not from that. i also haven't exercised today, although i did yesterday and have been most days so far this pregnancy (stepmill and recumbent bike or yoga).
just want some reassurance that this is normal, even though i know that it is.....

I have had a bit of pink mucus and an isolated spot in the past few days, so I've been reading about this a lot. It seems to be quite common, and I think it's not abnormal at all. I have no previous pregnancies, so nothing to compare to, but things like actual bleeding and strong cramps seem to be things to worry about. A tiny bit of spotting, pink or brown mucus don't seem to be as worrisome. I've also read that the cervix and vagina can become more vascular (?) and may bleed more easily, so if you're poking around trying to see if you're spotting, that could make it even worse (I'm pretty sure that was happening to me).

Do you have any cramping? I had some bright pink and brown spotting at 5w but nothing since then. My dr appt was the next day and she didn't seemed concerned by it since it wouldn't have filled a pad.

no, not any cramping. i can feel "stuff" going on but i don't think that it'd consider it cramping, just stretching and normal early pregnancy aches?

Sending lots of good thoughts your way. I just read somewhere today that 50% of women with normal pregnancy outcomes, have spotting in the first trimester.

Yeah I can definitely feel 'stuff' going on down there as well. Hopefully it's just your body preparing for everything it needs to do.

Spotting can be perfectly normal. It's a good sign that you are not cramping. Best wishes to you that all is well!

I am spotting today... like, when I wipe the toilet paper. It's pale pink. I don't have any cramps, though. It is freaking me out. Please tell me I'm going to be OK. I have an doc appt this afternoon with my GP just to have it confirmed with another pee test. I guess I should ask her?

Did you have sex recently?
That happens to me after sex and I don't worry about it at all.
I started spotting and almost bleeding at 7w and it continued off and on until 12w. I'm having a baby in 9 days, so it can be completely normal. Out of 4 other full term births this is the only one where I had this tho.
Good luck mamas, and remember *everything* is normal in pregnany until proven other wise!! :wink

^ Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I did have sex a couple of days ago, but I didn't think it would still affect it later.
Anywho, the spotting yesterday stopped, but I had it again this morning and it was darker (NOT red though). I freaked out. I called my GP & she said to stay at home today, and try to see if I could get my OB appointment any sooner (I couldn't). She told me to prop my feet up, try to relax, and just wait and see. I guess what worries me most is that I've not had a lot of really *strong* symptoms (no m/s for example).

Luna, I haven't had any real symptoms either... hang in there - try to remember that spotting is normal!
((hugs)) to you, too, Hillary)

Thanks, Jen! I am just worried. I, like all of us here, just want this baby so bad. :)
