Help!! I just found out I'm preggo and I desperately want a natural birth, preferably a homebirth. I know that the hospitals here aren't natural birth friendly. When my friend talked to her ob about it she told her that if she delivered here she would be on her back the whole time and hooked up to ivs and an efm. No sympathy. No questions. No compromise. She is going to Baton Rouge general now, but I don't want to travel that far if I don't have to. Any help would be much appreciated. I am open to ideas and suggestions. I live in Vidalia, La which is right next to Natchez, MS. I am 1hr 15 min. from Cenla, 1hr 45 min. from BR, 1 1/2 hrs from Monroe, and 2hrs from Jackson.

How close are you to Hammond? I had a homebirth in 06 with Emmy Trammell from there. She was fantastic.

You are probably closer to B.R. right? There is a wonderful midwife here named Sherri Daigle. P.M. me if you want her info.

I don't exactly know how far Vicksburg is from Natchez, but my midwife, Velma McAllister, is in Vicksburg. She travels up to 1 hour and a half, and does home births. She does have a clinic for birthing, too, but no one ever chooses that way!!! Her website is www.vicksburgmidwifery.com and her contact info is on there. Best Wishes!!! PS. I'm a certified nurse midwife who's only had 3 hospital births, but I love her and am hoping to stay home for this one!

That is so awesome! I am from Natchez too, but I work in Vicksburg. I had no idea there was a midwife in the Vicksburg area... it's only about an hour away!

I am in Ruston, LA (about an hour and a hlaf from Vicksburg) look for a midwife to travel here. We have none in North Louisiana. I emailed Velma, hopefully I will hear from her soon as I am 35 weeks!

HI girls. I'm so glad that I found this web-site. I am very interested in having a completely natural childbirth. I'm not pg yet...but working on that. I emailed Ms. Velma and hopefully I'm a candidate.

Emmy Trammell is located in Hammond/Pontchatoula (sp?) area. Isn't that North LA?

I llove you too, by the way! :joy:LOL. With all of my traveling recently, I have become comfortable with driving and would travel up to 2 hours from Vicksburg.
