I am active duty Navy in Japan. My hospital is being very picky about letting me do a VBAC. I am considering asking if I can go to an off base hospital, since they have more resources but I don't know much about how Japanese OB's work. Mostly all I know is that they prefer very very low weight gain and pain meds aren't offered for vaginal delivery.
Does anyone know where I can find more information than that?

well I am reading a book calling Japan and Children or something like that. anyway, it has a chapter on birthing and there is a story of a woman VBACing, I also have a friend who tried to VBAC, not successfully, but not because of the doctors discouraging her.

Hi, I'm an american in okinawa. I have a friend from mainland, she had a c/s with her 1st and was encouraged to and tried to have a VBAC with her 2nd. I have another friend who was induced for 3 DAYS!! in a local hospital before they finally decided to do a c/s(pre-eclampsia.) There is no way that would happen at an MTF, they would send you to an OR in no time. So I think your chances of VBAC are better here than in the states or at a military hosp.
