View Full Version : Anyone up for trying to save a boy? [UPDATE POST 31]
Fellow Traveler 07-25-2008, 06:39 PM Ok so there is a blog I've stumbled across and the poster is questioning whether or not to circumcise his yet to be born son, there is even a poll. For many reasons, not the least of which is I think it is a UAV, I won't post the address but those who are interested in voting and trying to help reply to this message and I will PM you with the URL. I think there is a good opportunity here so we need to keep it calm and rational. Dispel the myths (your personal experiences) or share your regrets. Lets avoid the 'M' word and other ad hominems. There is two more requests that I will PM along with the address. I haven't yet commented myself (but I did vote) though I'll be along hopefully soon. I hope to see you all there. ;)

Microsoap 07-26-2008, 03:49 PM Wow, deciding whether or not to do this based on an Internet poll. That's a new one to me. This mother sounds very naive. :eyesroll But in that unintentionally ignorant way.
I'd send her this:
http://www.naturalfamilyonline.com/5-bc/64-no-to-circumcision.htm
and

I doubt it would be entirely based on the internet poll but they are soliciting comments regarding the 'options' so it is what it is. BTW, for those who have replied good job! The moderation feature is on so not all comments may appear but some good feedback has shown up. Also there will be another post to come according to the author.

Fellow Traveler 07-29-2008, 06:49 PM I just want to mention that everyone has done a great job with their posts. The author seems to be receiving the information well. In addition to the replies in this thread I just want to point out that I've had to clear my inbox at least three times since this has been put up. Also there were a reasonable number of lurkers it seems (names I didn't recognize and perhaps had a post or two in CAC) to them I hope you'll join the regular discussions more often. :lurk:
Fellow Traveler 07-30-2008, 12:10 PM For those who know where this is please go back and check his final update.
Tinker 07-30-2008, 12:21 PM For those who know where this is please go back and check his final update.
So was this a happy ending? PM please.
thixle 07-30-2008, 12:53 PM hey, pm me, too! How did I not see this???
MoonJelly 07-30-2008, 01:25 PM Surely providing a general run-down would be okay here, right? It's no more or less specfic than most of the stuff we talk about all the time.
(Also, I can't get on blogs from work and didn't get to vote last night from home b/c I fell asleep with my DD at 9pm and didn't get back up :o.)
I would love to hear how it turned out.
veiledexpressions 07-30-2008, 01:27 PM Me too!

Nandi 07-30-2008, 02:35 PM I'm not seeing any new info on his blog. What are you guys noticing?
Mamja 07-30-2008, 03:24 PM Is it too late to vote? I'd like to help. I'd also love to see the blog to see what the final decision was.
janellesmommy 07-30-2008, 04:32 PM Well, there are only two choices, right? Do it or don't do it. He chose to not do it. :joy:
MCatLvrMom2A&X 07-30-2008, 04:59 PM That is great news :)

im confused by this post. i offered to post (against circ. of course) but never got a pm. are those of us who are not "active" posters here (on CAC) considered lurkers?
honestly just curious. ive participated in some of the threads here, but mostly join in when it involves Jews who are considered not circ'ing).
Mamja 07-30-2008, 08:06 PM So did he make his final decision based purely upon the poll? Or were there any particular comments from MDCers that swayed him? I'm curious how he came to such a big decision. Then again, if he let the internet decide for him, I guess he didn't think it WAS such a big decision.
thechuzzle 07-30-2008, 08:15 PM count me in!!!

I'll say this in the thread too. What I meant to say was that I got a lot of interest from lurkers, some I didn't recognize at all that was all. Also to PassionateWriter and others if I missed your request I apologize there was more interest in this than I anticipated I bet well over 60 posters PMed me through the last few days and it's possible I missed some requests.

Yes it seems he and his wife have opted not to circumcise, that was the substance of the most recent update. No it wasn't really based on the pole I believe that was for "entertainment" purposes only.

No he posted the thought process on this.
karpat2006 07-31-2008, 12:45 PM Nevermind. I didn't read the whole thread.
