So excited for you Mamapenelope!! Good luck to you and the baby!!
Jackie, good that you came out of this accident OK!!
Halah, I know how it feels when a highly pregnant woman's plans are being interfered with!! DHs know this! But boss' of MILs that is another story. I hope, your plans are working out, nevertheless!
I am still in waiting position. The mucus plug is eroding little by little, keep having very strong braxton hicks - I have had them for weeks - other than that now signs of labor..... New Moon passed...
My very dear MIL made me mad :angry. She keeps calling and wants to be informed about the progress. She insists to be called right after birth even if it is in the middle of the night!! (I already know that that will be the last thing on my mind right after birth!!)
But the worst was, when my due date had passed uneventful:
"Well, you know you can always go and be induced. You don't have to go through this ordeal! This is what I did, when my due date had passed. They kept me in the clinic right away and within 6 hours I had my boy."
I was thinking, yes, this poor boy, my DH, you didn't even give him the time he needed to step into this world. Well, of course she was also the one that sent him off to his grandma, who happened to live 500 miles away at the time, for the first 3 months of his life so that she, my MIL, could finish her exams. So, no nursing there.... Well, don't get me wrong, I think it was heroic of her and certainly very necessary from an economic standpoint to finish her exam right away, but why couldn't grandma come to her so she would be in touch with her baby??
Sorry, this was very long!!
Good labor vibes to all!! :fairy :fairy :fairy

Magnus Jack Remembrance G***-P****** made his entrance into the world tonight at 6:33pm Alaska time. He was 8 lbs, 7 oz, and 21 inches long.
I gave birth to him in our hot tub outside, with friends and all my children surrounding me. I felt his hair before he was born, his ear as his head was out and the rest of him was waiting, and his whole body slither into my own hands. He was born with the locks of curly dark black hair I dreamt of...he is chunky and beautiful.
I feel like a Goddess. My midwife was a dream, my partner so perfect, the snow was falling and the moon is new.
I am off to celebrate this new life (and then to have a nap!).
I send you all love and good health.

Hooray mamapenelope and welcome Magnus! :banana:champagne :banana
I knew you'd do it! And your birth sounds perfectly beautiful. You deserved to have a great one :)
Well, I've been having contractions about 10 minutes apart most of this early am...not sure how long it's been this way, kept having crazy dreams, then waking to a contraction, then falling back to sleep, and so on. Woke up and started timing them in my head around 5 am I guess. They're finally wrapping around my lower abdomen and regular, so it gives me hope it should not be TOO much longer.
My dh convinced his mum to speak to the officials at her church about finding a backup for next Sunday...she said she'd been feeling unhappy about it and was glad that we were encouraging her to speak up...I hope she has a good outcome today.
Well, gonna keep busy, my birth pool will probably be dropped off today too, going to try to plant seedlings in the garden and make some more soup and bread. We're going to do the jack o lantern's tonight too. :)
Ds is awake, gotta go. Good luck everyone!!

Penelope, tears of joy to you. What a beautiful scene. Welcome Magnus (and he's your biggest)
Kind of curious about the logisitcs of an outdoor birth in the snow. I truly wanted to birth outdoors but thought it would be too cold????
Not a gosh darned thing starting up here:rolleyes:

:hug to Ostara, Halah, Jackie and Jen. It won't be long, Mamas. And if my babe can be 8lbs, 7 oz at 13 days "post dates" then your babes are going to be born when they're ready as well. I am amazed he's not twelve pounds, but by the end of this pregnancy, my whole belly felt like baby! :)
Ostara, believe it or not, calling people really does occur to you right after birth. :) I think it's a natural response to something so joyous and miraculous...the first person I always think of is my own mother, and then everyone else on the list gets a call (although most of them talked to Brad this time, I just wanted to nurse and cuddle and listen to him tell it over and over again!). I know how frustrating it can be to have people hounding you about when you're going to "finally" have that baby. I swear I was very ... abrupt .... ;) for the last few days of my pregnancy because I was SO tired of the same stupid comments over and over again.
This too, shall pass.
Halah, :banana, yay on your MIL and that whole situation!! I am so glad things are looking brighter for you. Sometimes fixing one issue like that is just what we need to jumpstart labor. :)
Jen, I'm sending you strong, healthy labor vibes. You are so much more pregnant than before, I know how exciting and yet frustrating that is. :) :hug :hug :hug to you, and "come out baby" dust to your little bean.
Jackie, it won't be long now! The snow was gorgeous...it's going to be our first "sticky" snow of the year. What a memory.
As for how we managed a waterbirth outside in late October in interior Alaska...:D I love my partner!!!!! After listening to me tell him he had all the time in the world, I always labor slow, he slapped up a door way to the little platform we built for our hot tub, then covered it with a tarp and ran a clear plastic sheet all the way around. So I could not see directly above me, but I could see out the two sides without walls to the trees, stars, and snow. He did a wonderful job, except that he built it at the level of the walls surrounding two sides of our hot tub, and at first we couldn't fold the cover back to take it off, and it wouldn't slide out because he nailed support beams up to hold the tarps. It was, without fail, the most HILARIOUS moment ever...Me at probably 8 cm, standing there laughing trying to help my big ol' fire dept guy get a hot tub cover off, before I go having another whammy contraction.
:rotflmao
I can't believe, still, that this is MY story. This was such a fast birth for me, only three hours from the MW coming (and me assuring her she could drop her stuff and leave! which of course she didn't do!!) to the baby being born. I went to the meeting dp was at, after dropping the girls at a knitting class, and told him (at about 2:15pm) that I hoped I wasn't calling him home too early, but I thought he should probably wrap up work and meander home.
I'm so glad he didn't meander!
And my girlfriend that drove the girls home from knitting, she and her daughter stayed and were SUCH a joy through the whole birth and after...I think I've changed the course of her daughter's life! :D It was so perfect, having them there to help with Elliot (who had no nap, little lunch, and lots of Clifford time ;) ) and to talk to the girls in a normal way about what was going on while I was too busy pushing their brother out to answer worries and questions.
I gave one GOOD yell when I got his head out, and Elliot didn't like that. It amazes me that I had the presence of mind to talk to Elliot about what was going on. Later, after the birth, E took a shower with me and we talked a lot about yelling and how it's ok to yell sometimes, and I asked him if he wanted to yell with me...he said, "Not right now. Maybe later." :LOL
I passed one huge clot, the size of a lobster :eek in the shower...actuallly had to push that sucker out! The mw had given me pitocin, as I was extremely woozy, and I was actually grateful for the shot. I got in the shower, peed a lot (sitting down, ds was in there with me ;) ) and then BOOM, I had to push out this huge clot. That was an adventure!
The beautiful stuff that accompanies birthing these miracles...ain't it grand? :p
Love, Penelope

Contractions are 5 min apart. Cervix was 4cms but very posterior. Took the liberty of pulling it forward and it stretched to about 6 cms. Starting to need to dance through the contractions. Praying it doesn't stop.

Morning ladies! Jen hoping to hear you had the baby!
Today is my due date and I came up with a theme song for the day. Its based on that 50 cent song
"Go Emmett, its your birthday
We gonna party like it your birthday
Mom wants it to be your birthday
so come on out and it'll be your birthday"
Ok - I've officially lost it (well that was years ago but I'm not hiding it anymore:D )
Well fortunately this weekend was uneventful for us - in the sense there were no reprecussions from the accident Friday. DH's back is bothering him a bit but nothing too bad. I may have him go to the Dr. today, just to get checked and maybe had some PT ordered. The muscles just under one shoulder blade have been bothering him so some massage and a few exercises should put that back in order.
I relaxed all weekend - my big outing was to Costco on Saturday. I swear I think I'm going to need therapy now to get back in the car on the highway! No back ache for me (fortunately I was sitting full back in the seat when we were hit) and aside from my wrist being sore (from having blood taken at the hospital) Emmett and I feel pretty good. No cramping, no bleeding etc. There was some concern about placental detachment b/c of the seatbelt - it was low but b/c of my coat it had slid up on my belly a bit.
I've pretty much decided to start my leave from work, especially after Friday. I know that stress at work is making my bp creep up. I had planned to work until he's born but you know what...screw it. I can work from home if needed. I've joke that the reason I haven't had him yet is b/c he's afraid of my boss. She can be really nice and generous (she chucked in $300 for a baby gift for me) but then can be a real nut job - a few minutes before they gave me the gift she commented to someone outside the firm that I'm pregnant so I'm stupid now (meaning pregnancy brain - I forgot someone had faxed something over). Ugh! I think these last few days of being pregnant will be better spent noodling around the house than going into the office (and hearing everyone say "Not yet?"). Just making that decision I feel so much better and I bet my bp is back to normal too. I've kind of had a moment of zen I guess. Anyhow my mom, MIL and DH would physically barr me from going to work now.
Halah - I hope everything works out with your MIL. Keep us posted.
Love and labour vibes :love
(I'm still singing my song - go Emmett its your birthday....)

So I hosted a slumber party for the midwives at my place last night. Contractions had been 2-3 minutes apart and as soon as people arrived they slowed down to 10. Not able to sleep, to disturbed by contractions, still going about every 10 this morning. Also appears I need some practice checking dilation (or I regressed) was a good 4cms when my midwife checked me this AM. Hoping things will pick back up later today and this time I will wait until I'm good and active to have people come.

Congratulations to the new babies!!! And best wishes to those of you in labor right now!!!
I'm 4 days past edd...and feeling no signs of labor right now. Actually, I'm frustrated becasue yesterday I had crampy contractions throughout the day, baby seemed to drop extrememly low so I felt tons of pressure and right before bed I lost a big gulp of mucous (been losing a little last few days) but when I woke up this morning- nada. Nothing. I'm not having any contractions at all and the baby doesn't even feel so low. I feel like I could be pregnant another month. And, the massage I had scheduled got cancelled becasue the therapist is also a doula and she had a client in early labor. Of course, I understand but I was really looking forward to that massage!
Thanks for letting me vent!!!
Babies come when they are perfectly ready. But all I can envision is little baby tucked warmly and snuggly inside my womb with no motivation to change things...kind of like how I feel first thing in the morning when its time for me to get up but all I want to do is snuggle more deeply into my pillows and blankets and lay there all day. And if it were simply an alarm clock calling me- or some arbitrary time that I'm supposed to get up- I would just roll over and go back to sleep...but it's my toddler wanting "Momma Read" or "Momma Eat" or "Momma Play" so up we go...So that's my motivation but I wonder what will it take to motivate this baby to get out of bed and start the day?

Contractions stayed 10 minutes apart ALL day yesterday after they slowed down. Thats another 20 hours after and I had bloody show the whole time, almost all were strong enought o breathe and wiggle through. Laid down to rest last night, they disappeared and I got 11 hours of sleep. I know I know just as need, not what I wanted, meanwhile the last of the moms our practice had due in October had her baby (after having contractions 10 min apart all day) Just need to get a good attitude and try to enjoy my day. Things change so fast at this point I could still be holding a baby by dinnertime, even though I'm not counting on it

When those contractions start squeezing her or him down and out, she'll probably decide that the womb isn't has comfy as she once thought and it might be worth checking out other digs. :LOL
Actually, I was just thinking of that last night. How comfy she must have been in there, and how this new world isn't nearly as comfortable. Poor little thing.

Bummer, sorry Jen! Although when I was in labor, I wished several times it would stop so I could just go to sleep. I ended up lying down, trying to sleep thinking maybe I'd be lucky enough to sleep through a couple of contractions. Didn't happen. :D It's got to be frustrating for things to quit, but hey, you're just that much closer to having your baby.

Jen, have you had someone sweep your membranes? I don't know how "involved" you want to get in making this birth happen...when I hit my official "wall" (I was miserably nasty to everyone, just a b*tch) I went in and asked the MW to strip my membranes. I did the same thing w/ Ds #1. With Ds 1, he was born about 42 hours after the membrane sweep. This time, MW stripped my membranes at 10am Friday, and Ds was born at 6:30 pm SAturday. :D So it worked for me both times. Just a thought?

Had her do it when she was here the other night and things slowed. Nothing amazing happened. Both other babes have been pit inductions so I don't want to do too much to start things, really want my body to do it on its own. I am trying a small dose of B and B cohoshes today, not expecting much though. I really believe the only home "induction" method that works well is castor oil and I am not willing to use it. I think if I pass 42 weeks it might be open to using it. My BP has been sneaking up, it is getting up to not good levels. My nutrition was crap when I had the flu and I was very dehydrated, so I am trying to eat bookoo protien and do some damage control. If it keeps going up I might use the castor oil as an alternative to the hospital, kwim. As long as I am keeping it at a safe level, even if it is a high safe I can be patient. (even if I am cranky!)

We had the most incredible birth experience in the early morning hours of October 27th! I will just encapsulate it due to time. My water broke on the evening of the 24th. Because I had tested GBS+ I discoevered that I was on a clock to have the baby within 18 hours! I had no idea that would happen. So we started refusing induction right away. My last two were inductions and I really didn't want to walk that road again. We spent the weekend trying everything to bring labour on. I think the only thing we skipped was acupuncture (I just hate needles!). Contractions would start and die off after a while. I ended up doiing castor oil three times! When labour finally started I wouldn't believe it was real just an hour before her birth. My DH ended up calling our doula to come over even though I wasn't sure. Doula got here and told us she thought it was "real" labour and called the midwife and her backup. Long and short of it was baby was born before midwife even arrived, birthed in a pool in our living room, and caught by our surprised but very competent doula! She was telling me not to push but there was not two ways about it! Baby was coming!
As soon as the baby arrived my two older DD's woke up on their own and joined us. It was wonderful! I'm feeling great with just one stitch and loving just being at home.

And so is Juliet Delphine! :love
She was born this afternoon at 1:30 after a 12 hour labor (that's about half the time it took with ds). The labor went great, until I got STUCK at transition with half a centimeter to go for 4 hours (not recommended). Finally I had the midwife break the water (we were hoping she'd be born in the caul) and pushed her out on my bed 15 minutes later.
She's 7 lbs, 7 oz, 19 3/4 inches long and is just gorgeous! I will post a birth story later...but right now I need SLEEP.
Keep on going, mamas nearing/in labor! and congratulations to mamas giving birth!

Welcome, welcome to Juliet and to Krysha!! Yay for you Mamas!
I kwym, Czen, about not believing it is real labor. :p You'd think I'd have been more aware, but truly, I was so enjoying being busy, listening to everyone talk and be so chatty all around me, and generally moving a lot, that I didn't have a lot of time to think about how intense things felt. I was very very very happy to stay very busy until I got into the tub, and then I truly enjoyed both the quiet intimate moments w/ dp and the loud, funny moments w/ the kids and friends. :D
Jen, I'm thinking about you. Sending you patience and strength and lots of important moments with your two other children. :love
Everything here is great. Magnus is sleeping, had his first fun upchuck today. :rotflmao My milk came in yesterday, at about 40 hours postpartum (I took benadryl twice to stop some hives, think that slowed it down, believe it or not!) and Magnus is already pooping yellow instead of meconium. I'm glad to get him out of throw-away diapers, I *Hate* the Pampers Swaddlers we got for the first days (and also for DP who has his moments :p ).
The kids are all doing well, aside from the two yo having some issues with WAY too busy a schedule and not enough ritual. We're going to work on that. :)
Love, Penelope

I prefer the Pamper swaddlers over the Huggies. I was getting more leakage with the Huggies, but I'd probably like the Huggies Supremes better. The Pampers I bought didn't fit, however, so we had to get the next size up (8-14 lbs). I didn't care for the newborn Pampers because they were just too short. The things I don't like about Pampers is the smell--they have the most chemical smell of all the disposables, in my opinion.
I started using cloth after about a week, but now Jessie has this diaper rash that I just can't make go away, so I've been using disposables only so that I can use a lot of diaper cream each time. I went out and got some 7th Generation unbleached diapers so I can avoid some of the chemicals. They work pretty well, but I got the 12-18 lb size and she is just 12 lbs so they are a little big. And they aren't as soft on the outside as the Pampers, but I don't care about that. I was really digging the prefolds before that. Most of the fitted diapers I have just seem a little too bulky right now, although the Kushies Ultras fit well.

Emmett Jacobs arrived just after 3am October 29th in our upstairs bathroom! He was quite a suprise - I had been awakened from a sound sleep just 40 minutes before he made his grand entrance. I'm home but he's in the NICU now but doing very well (low blood sugar problems yesterday so he was admitted to NICU as a precaution). I'm well - dh is still in a state of shock - I called him into the bathroom, he came in and Emmett was in my arms!
I'll post more later - it's a pretty wild story.
Oh - he is 5lbs 5oz, 18 3/4 inches long, blond hair and I think brown eyes.
Oh yeah - congrats to everyone and welcome to new babes!

just dropped in to see how everyone is doing. Congrats to the new moms, see ya in Life With A Babe! For those still waiting, hang in there.
I love the analogy to not wanting to get out of bed in the morning for the late comers! I was sure Luthien didn't want to budge, though we were creeping closer when the doc insisted on inducing at 41 wks 5 days.
next time I'm gonna fudge the due date by telling tales about my menstrual cycle. grrr. I mean, my dd was 7 lb 12 oz. She'd have been tiny if she'd come by EDD!

Hello everyone! Happy to hear of all these babies!
We had our precious baby girl on Oct 28th at around 10:30pm. Her name is Lily Elizabeth Anne and weighed 8 lbs 6 oz and was 20 inches long. We had a beautiful unassisted birth... my husband was awesome....the boys were sooo excited and giggly. I will have to write up her birth story when I have 2 hands. I can't believe we have a little girl.

Congratulations again to the newly born families!
Keri- if you're open to sharing, did you have your water broken or did that happen on its own? Just curious as I'm being advised of all of the different "induction options"...so I was wondering about that. What a fast labor- I'm sure it was intense to say the very least! How exciting that you didn't even tear and you had such a beautifully big baby!
grandmasgirl- You must of slept through some pretty efficient contractions!!! Looking forward to reading your birth story...but in the meantime just hoping your baby is able to come home soon!
I'm 9 days past my due date and hoping to pick up on all this good labor-energy. I took a long nap today then got a massage with some accupressure and reflexology...we'll see!

Ok - here's the story. (Really long!)
Tuesday I went to the midwife for my regular appointment. She checked my bp again and was still high. The did a NST - everything was fine. After a consult with their OB backup we decided I could come back Wed for another bp check. If still high - induction was probably going to be the outcome. My MW said to me, try some castor oil tonight - that may get things going and you can still deliver here since you have no other signs or pre-eclampsia. She said take only two doses - 2oz at 6 hour intervals.
So I go home, go out for Mexican food with DH and mom and get the castor oil. I took 1oz (all I could get down and it took 2 can of Coke to do so!) at 9pm. Putzed around the house, felt fine - nothing happening. Went to sleep around 11:30ish. At 2:25 I woke up with that "I have to go to the bathroom now!" feeling. Intestines emptied, abdomen cramped, felt like S*!$. So I drew a warm bath. In the tub had a hard contraction but not what I expected. It was hard and hurt but I could deal with it (talk though it) - felt like my whole abdomen was being pinched. Had a few "aftershocks" a second or two later. So I knew I was having a contraction but discounted it as early or mid labor because it wasn't that bad. Then my intestines emptied again! Went into the bedroom, asked DH to make a cup of tea. While he was doing that I got back in tub. Then a whopper hit me - stomach and intestines emptied at the same time. Now I had the though "don't women vomit/get the runs in transition?" but I pass it off because of the castor oil I took and there was no way I could be that far after 2 or 3 contractions. So I'm sitting on the toilet with my head over the sink, DH come in delivers the tea and goes to get a bag and rubber gloves. He cleans out the sink and I tell him "please don't stand there looking at me". As I'm saying this, I feel incredible rectal pressure. I think "Oh no here go my intestines again" and I'm waiting for another contraction to hit. It did feel like I should push but I remembered about not pushing too soon b/c it can make the cervix swell. I was sure I was no where near ready to push (after 3 contractions?) so I assumed it was the castor oil really taking hold. DH goes back into the bedroom as I have another bout of rectal pressure. I noticed fluid leaking so as I reach down to check the fluid (at that point I wasn’t sure if I had peed or if it was amniotic fluid - I wanted to smell it and see) I feel a head! HELLO! So I stood up, keeping my hand over my vaginal opening and his head popped out. I could feel head and neck, gave a small push and out comes Emmett (I made sure I had a good grip on him). I quickly put him to my chest and he starts to cry. I call to DH "Can you come here for a moment". Poor guy walks into the bathroom and there I am with a newborn. The look on his face I will never forget! He though I was calling him to clean up more vomit. He starts to get panicky so I ask him to please call 911 (I did have a moment where I thought I was going to have to slap him). I check out Emmett - he's pink, breathing good, crying, etc.
So 911 instructs DH to tie off the cord with a shoe lace which he does. EMTs and Fire Department arrive 2 minutes after the call (we live about 1 mile from the FD). The come in thinking I’m in labor and they’ll have to deliver. Nope - did that. Anyhow they check Emmett out - apgars are 9 & 10 (whew!) but he’s a little cold (so am I) so that wrap up both up. While this is happening my DH calls my mom. Now its about 3:15 am. She tells me when the phone rang she figured we were off to the birth center. She answers and DH says “Emmett is here”. She asks where and DH says here, now, in the house. She hangs up on him and races over (she too only lives about 1 mile from us). My mom arrives to find me now dressed and standing at the top of the stairs so I ask her ’Want to come up and see Emmett”. She almost passed out. So off we go to the hospital (never again will I enter the hospital for a birth - NEVER - but that is another long story). Emmett’s first ride is in the ambulance with me.
Anyhow, he is still in the NICU because of hypoglycemia (I mostly blame the hospital maternity ward staff for this. Long story but the premise is they kept him away from me for too long, too often - and yes I kicked up quite a stir, got into a royal pissing match with a resident - I won - and boy were they glad to see me discharged in 24 hours!) This morning his glucose IV has been turned down from 13 to 7 over night and now is down to 1cc just before his 6:30 feeding, his blood sugar is staying above well 60 after each feeding (I’m still bent he’s had formula but his blood sugar dipped to the 30’s at one point so I felt that arguing about breast milk only was moot - he needed nourishment right then and any kind was fine to get his levels up. I just want him stabilized and then we can work on establishing breast feeding - I’m pumping now). We’re hoping to have him home Monday and we can begin our “baby moon”. He’s under bili lights now - his levels went up a bit yesterday but were coming down nicely today after the light treatment. I feel guilty about not being there for every feeding but I realized yesterday after my evening visit that I was about to fall over, so I went to bed early and slept in a bit today (massive guilt). The NICU nurses are great - I love them. One practically forced me to stay home last night - she threatened to admit me again if I didn’t get some rest. I got her point and she was right - I felt much better this morning. I guess going 72 hours on 3 hours of intermittent sleep is not a good thing.
So total time from waking up to birth - approx 38 minutes, 3 contractions, 2/3 feelings of pressure and out he popped. Yes I had some pretty efficient contractions. My mom pointed out if she hadn’t been awake when her first contraction with me hit, she probably would have had the same story - she slept through all of her labour and woke when it was just about time to push. (same goes for my grandma and great-grandma).
Congrats to everyone on their new babes! Labour vibes to everyone still waiting!

Wow, how cool, Jackie! I read in the Ina May book about how there are accounts of women waking up to find their babies in the bed. I was kind of hoping that my delivery would be like that. It doesn't run in my family though. :)
Congratulations to you on the birth of Emmet! I guess you didn't get to get any photos or anything.

Hello All,
Finally a nap!
Lyla was born on Oct 24th! We all tried hard to deliver at the birth center but due to my water releasing first ended up in the hospital. Luckily Everyone was very kind, supportive and I got to 8cm before any intervention and the only intervrntion they used was epidural.
Oh well next time.
We are thrilled with our first beautiful child. I would say elated!

So, who's left besides me?
I'm 4 days "overdue" now but feeling good. We had sort of a rough weekend, as my bil and sil had their baby (due 3 wks *after* me, but big and healthy) and some friends of ours had theirs too. It was like they were rubbing it in my face. The "hilarious" jokes about how I should "uncross my legs" and get on with it have started. As a result, I am now screening all my phone calls and having my dh check and screen my emails. I'm just trying to stay as relaxed as possible.
I bought Ina May's Guide to Childbirth yesterday. It's very comforting and I think is helping me get into the right mindset. Being all stressed out about when this baby is coming will probably not make it come sooner.
Good, happy labor vibes to all!

I had my baby!
On Sunday night, Nov. 2nd.
our daughter, Ava Mae was born at home in the bath tub.
The labor was fast and intense...2 hours! Ava was born in her bag of water which broke on its own only after her feet were out! I didn't need stiches!!! Just a tiny little skid-mark that I can't even see or feel! It was hard work! But I stayed in a really great place emotionally and felt so spiritual the whole time!
I'll post more later...Thanks for all of the support!

Congratulations to all the births that have happened in the week since I entered postpartum land! I'm glad everyone ultimately delivered safely and to healthy babes, that's the most important thing of all.
We've had a great week at home with our new daughter...we had breastfeeding issues the first night and I called the La Leche League leader first thing the following morning...she came out and was super-helpful, no major problems since. I sincerely suggest anyone planning to breastfeed, even if it's your second or third, meet a few lactation consultants/League leaders in the early days. Even if not every tip they give you is helpful, you can pick and choose what works for you and your newborn, and avoid problems.
