Do you get any contractions before labor begins? Other pre labor signs?

A freind of mine has the same due date as me. She has been getting contractions for a couple weeks on and off. I haven't had any. Once in awhile my stomach tightens but that is it. We are 38 weeks now. (This is my 2nd pregnancy but I never had any contractions on my own with the first and was induced, got to 5 cm after 27 hours then C section.)

Anyway, just wondering if most people do starting geting contractions before their due date?

What other things happened to tell you labor was near or was it sudden???

Like most things...no one is the same! Some women have contractions the whole time (like me) and some women have none (like my friend).

Another sign would be losing your plug

But just remember that the number of contractions you have before labor has nothing to do with how fast labor will go or when you will deliver. Your friends could go 2 weeks over and have had 6 weeks of contractions. You could never have a contraction beforehand, go into labor, and have a babe in 2 hours, a week early!

You just never know!
