I was told by both my ob and my midwife to eat between 60-90 grams of protein a day. In Bradley classes, we were told that Dr. Brewer recommends 100g, but for me, that would be impossible while still eating fruits and veggies, unless I overate severely.
I kept track for a while, and was getting around 75-80g each day, which is pretty good.

I teach (in my Bradley classes) that you should strive for 80-100 grams a day (this is what Brewer talks about). My midwives basically agree...(they recommend Bradley classes, too).
Remember...this is something to 'shoot' for. You can't get too crazy about it or stress yourself out about it. I have known some moms who just couldn't tolerate that much protein (made them sick to their stomach) so they needed to follow their body's lead.
You can check out www.blueribbonbaby.org for more info about the Brewer Diet that so many midwives recommend (or a version thereof).
Good luck to you:D

I was shooting for 65-75 a day but now that baby may not be growing well and I'm not gaining the weight I think I should, I'm upping it to 100 per day. Lots of protein shakes, boca burgers and cottage cheese.

When I heard (in Bradley class) that I should try for 100 g a day I thought they were nuts! Until I started keeping track (homework for class) and found I was getting over that!:eek
I drink 2-16 oz glasses of milk a day (about 32g right there!), plus 2 eggs is another 14g (I think), a 3 oz peice of chicken is about 20-25, and I eat a Balance bar daily and that's usually 15g. It's not as hard as you may think. Hell, my bagels have 15g!
Good luck!
