I've found (and love) the doulas tribe and saw a student midwives tribe...but came up with nothing on childbirth educators. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If not, I'll start one!

Consider it started, as far as I'm concerned. :)

I'm a doula but right now I'm teaching and in the process of certification with CBI for their childbirth educator program. LOVING IT. I just taught my 5th class out of this series today -- I've been teaching for about 3 years.

Okay- Well unless someone points us to an existing thread, consider this it! I just registered through CBI and am SOOO excited about it. It seems like a very comprehensive course with lots of flexibility.

I made a few documents based on using Aims for setting up classes, and I thought "learning outcomes" was a stroke of genius, it was the answer to the question I consistently had when trying to teach BFW. I could never tell when my parents had grasped something, it was too much about ritual/rite of passage and not enough about sharing information, for me. BFW compliments CBI really well, I have to say. Teaching a mix of both, I'm teaching a MUCH stronger, more fun class.

Ive been interested in teaching BFW for sometime now. There's really no certification or "teacher's manual" that Ive found. Is this true?

There's a whole certification program. It's really intense, and REALLY expensive, but if it moves you, it's worth it. I could tell you my experience and what I've gained from teaching BFW if you want to pm me or email me, either way.

There's no manual, but there is a really big training and certification program. :) www.birthingfromwithin.com

There's actually a whole birth professional's forum here (http://www.mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=228).

While you're welcome to start a tribe out in the main FYT area (http://www.mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=7) for daily chatter, specific discussions (which is pretty much what this thread has been so far) need to take place in the birth professionals forum. :)
