Thought I'd start a new thread...
Does anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like tomorrow?
Anyone planning to be at Humboldt at 10:00?

We might go...maybe not this week, but hopefully next week! Does anyone else have 4+ kids? I tend to not go to organized playgroups b/c I have so many babes...it's just hard to socialize and I feel I scare away mamas w/ less kids (b/c mine are so...uh...spirited :wink)

So according to weather.com the high will be 76 with a 60% chance of Tstorms. If it's not raining we'll be there.

A couple of us are working on having 4+ kids:thumb One mom, who doesn't often come on mdc, has 4 boys- she's planning on coming tomorrow. Hope to meet you soon.

I'll be there but older ds's school is having their play meet up so I don't know how involving that will be:)
And I have only two but they are both "spirited" as well:)

Oh- I'm sorry you didn't get a response to this earlier! The park on Brook St. is called Brook St. Park- we meet at Humboldt on Humboldt St. It's near wayland square. We were looking out for you- sorry we missed you.
I'd be interested in continuing our "frustrated with sahm-ness" conversation- maybe in another thread? If anyone else wants to keep talking about it let me know and I'll start a thread. If everyone is okay waiting until next week to talk in person that's okay too.

I'm sorry we didn't point you in the right direction Jojo. We were kind of all over the place at first but Humboldt has worked out well for a couple weeks.
It will be our nursery school meet up again next tuesday, but I'll be there since it's the same time/ place:)
Does anyone have a desire to change days at the end of the summer?

(cream together)
1 egg + 1 tsp vanilla
(Beat into the above mixture)
2 C whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsps ginger (powdered)
1/2 tsp cinnamon (I used more like a tsp)

We had a lot of fun today, too, and Iris CONKED OUT for her nap :thumb. The website for the food coop is urbangreens.com.
Did the elusive Jojo show up and I missed her somehow?????
Directions to Humboldt:
From the East Side of Providence, follow Waterman Ave. and bang a left onto Wayland Avenue. Go through the next traffic light and take your 2nd (?) right onto Humboldt. Easy as pie :love

I think you were leaving as I was sitting down with the group. I had the gray shirt with black polka dots and I'm only 19 weeks pregnant so no huge belly, yet. DS had the mohawk, next time I'll spike it so you all cen get the full effect :jammin
Amberoxy- Awsome!! And thank you:D Do you get raw milk?
Amberoxy
08-26-2008, 09:02 PM
Hi, Yes, I do get raw milk - I get it from Paskamansett Farm in Dartmouth, MA. I'm really looking forward to making the Kefir with it :)

There is a TON of info about Kombucha in the Traditional Foods Forum but here is a post I wrote up else where-
Kombucha is a probiotic drink that is made from fermented black or green tea and has healing properties* and detoxifies the body.
*The healing properties have not been scientifically verified but many people have their own stories about drinking Kombucha and has been used for centuries*
The cluture used to brew kombucha is called a SCOBY- Symbyotic Colony Of Bacteria and Yeasts- the good kind.
Wanna see what they look like?! flickr (http://flickr.com/search/?q=kombucha%20scoby&w=all)has some great pictures :thumb
The first picture is of a dissected scoby. When the mother- the original scoby- grows it forms layers- the new ones on top are called babies. You can seperate the layers and give them away, you can leave them and let the scoby get super thick with multiple layers, or you can toss them in the compost, it's up to you.
This site will tell you more and the *possible* things it can help with- http://www.nutrition4health.org/nohanews/NNW97KombuchaTea.htm

Good good. I'm glad you're going to come. I've been trying not to peer pressure you but I miss you loads. I rucked Del yesterday and someone with a forward facing moby sitting baby asked about the wrap:D I need you to critique- especially my high back carry...
And Jojo what's that herbal place you use in Seekonk?
plantmama
08-27-2008, 08:31 AM
Oh now I remember what a SCOBY is.
I drink commercial kombucha every so often but haven't been brave enough to make it myself. I can't even make yougurt:o
The herb farm I think is seven arrows. I sent you (Sarah) a link about it once upon a time. My mom and sister went there though and were almost forced to join a discussion on solutions for world peace by the owner, which I thought was funny (especially since my mom is kind of crabby and anti social however much she advocates for world peace). I think the owner scared them off because they never made it into the store, just looked at the plants. They have a beautiful web site.
Does any one have the feeling this thread is getting out of control? lol
