View Full Version : Will a uterine infection following miscarriage affect my chances of getting pregnant?

Hi ya'll. I lost my baby back on June 26th. I had a natural miscarriage at home and then developed a uterine infection two weeks later. They put me on zithromax for a week, but it didn't work, so I had to take methergine to clear some fragments from the miscarriage and take three different antibiotics. I took the last of the medicine today and the doc did an ultrasound and said everything looks fine. He also said I had a 10% chance of not being able to conceive again since I had this infection. What??

Does anyone have any idea why that would be? He said something about scar tissue forming from the infection, but I don't see how that could be. I went into the doctor the very morning I woke up with fever and symptoms of the uterine infection. It was treated immediately!

Now I am scared because we are going to start trying again in September and I'm worried sick about what the doctor said. I don't understand why he would say that.

Could anybody please help me out with this or give me some advice? Has anyone else had a uterine infection following their miscarriage?

Please help!

That sounds suspicious to me. To me it sounds like someone who likes to do lots of D&Cs. :irked: Next time you see him (or maybe call and talk to his nurse) ask for a justification for that statement especially since he told you everything looks fine.

Thank you for the answers. What both of you said pretty much confirms what my heart tells me - that it will be fine. We are waiting until September so these antibiotics can clear my system and I can have a clear uterine lining built up without the infection since I was still taking the methergine when I was on my period last period. I don't want to wait (I'm ovulating right now), but I know it's for the best and will be better for my next baby : ) Thanks for your responses.
