To make a long story short, he is regretting it and we are wanting one more. Is there any good links that might help us decide on our options.

Finding out cost,et.

I have heard of vas. reversals but we heard that it might not work. Surprisingly he suggested/wondered if Insemination would not be a better option.

We do know little so any suggested reading/sites would be welcomed.

I don't have personal experience with this, but of the 3 people I know who have had reversals, two have been able to conceive and the third is still too soon to know. I've heard it's pretty spendy and not the most comfortable thing to have done, but it's a possibility for sure. I would call around to some doc offices who do this kind of surgery and have them answer your questions. Good luck with your decision.

This is also not personal, but I saw an episode of a Baby Story, where the father had had a vasectomy, and they did IVF with extracted sperm. He said that timing and cosdt wise this worked out better

I am familiar with this situation. Dh had one when ds was about 2 1/2. We were both fully committed to just having one child. The doc he went to was one of the best in the area and really does a great job. Well, this procedure was done in June. Dh came to me in October of that year and said he wasn't sure we had made the right decision:eek All we paid for the procedure was the co-pay. To reverse it would cost about $2,000.

We have decided that if we do want another child, we will adopt.

My best advice would be to really really really be sure this is what you both want. While reversal is possible, it can be painful and costly. There is also no guarantee that it will work. Dh was told his chance was something like 30-40%. Not good enough for me. Besides, I don't think he is willing to lay on the couch for a week with ice on his groin.

Insemination is not an option unless a reversal is effective. IVF is definately an option if you really want to have another child without doing the reversal and waiting for the results. Sperm would be extracted directly from the testicles, and through a method called ICSI, injected directly into your egg through IVF. It is costly, but definately has better success rates than vasectomy reversal and your insurance may cover IVF. Definately worth checking out through a good RE.

Hi, i had a tubal reversal in 2001, i paid under $4000 for mine. There are doctors that do this as a ministry to help couples, the vas reversals are much cheaper. Your DH could get it done for under $2000. If you would like more info you can email me and i can give you the names of the doctors. I know alot of ladies that have conceived after vas reversals. I have a 4 month old little reversal baby myself. So it DOES work!!!
