My family is taking a trip out to Denver/CO Springs coming up in a few weeks. We were wondering if there are any GFCF friendly restaurants out there that someone could recommend...especially something local as it'd be great to try something unique.
TIA!

GF - Gluten Free
CF - Casein Free (aka dairy)
Hmm... Not sure where to lead you since we don't eat out much, though I do have 2 recommendations that would meet your interest in something local and family-owned. I can say that if you like really wonderful gyros and middle eastern food, I recommend Briarmart. They're a small cafe/store, absolutely casual, family-owned and PHENOMENAL. Wonderful hummus, gyros, stuffed grape leaves, etc. Their sister restaurant, which is a bit more upscale, is Caspian Cafe. Lots of goodies from all over the mediterranean, which tends to be low on dairy overall w/ lots of rice and savory meats, and if I recall a couple of good vegetarian selections, so should be good for the GF as well so long as you skip the pitas. They're super super nice there, too (at both places), and I'm sure they would be happy to sub some veggies in for pitas if you got hummus or baba ghanouj or the like. DH and I absolutely love their food. We take DD there without a problem, too. She especially gets a kick out of the belly dancer they have on Thur, Fri and Sat evenings.
Here is a link to Caspian, which not only includes their menu, but a link to a description of Briarmart if you look down on the left side: http://www.caspiancafe.com/
One note - not sure how young your kiddos are, but Briarmart does *not* have high chairs or booster seats. DD always just sits on one of our laps.
Oh - wait! One more for Denver, if you like Brazilian BBQ - Rodizio Grill... fantastic food. Buffet with wandering meats (they explain it better online!) - http://www.rodiziogrill.com/
All three are places we always like to take people when they visit. Yummy stuff!
Hope this helps!

You might try Watercourse Foods (http://www.watercoursefoods.com/index.html). They are not GFCF, but they are all vegetarian and very helpful with regards to allergies and food sensitivities.

I believe that watercourse runs a pizzeria whose name I am totally forgetting, but dh says that they do a gfcf pizza there.
We love Abrusci's, an Italian Restaurant just West of Denver off of I-70 and Youngfield. They have an entire gluten free menu that literally made me cry the first time I saw it. There are a ton of dairy free items to choose from on it, and they even do a fabulous gf bread.

It's not exactly a pizzeria, but yes - they do. Here's my review of it! City 'O City (http://thirtyfivebythirtyfive.blogspot.com/2008/06/city-o-city.html)
The Watercourse also has gfcf food: Watercourse (http://thirtyfivebythirtyfive.blogspot.com/2008/06/watercourse-foods.html)
This place also has gfcf food: Swing Thai (http://thirtyfivebythirtyfive.blogspot.com/2008/08/swing-thai.html)

Mercury Cafe makes a lot of GF and Vegan dishes and desserts. This is a very eclectic/artsy restaurant that is very Earth Friendly.
Deby's Bakery and Cafe is gluten free. Not a fancy place though. Atmosphere is dreary, but food is good. I'd recommend for take out.
On the Border Mexican restaurant does Gluten free dishes and you can omit the cheese.
To eat on the fancy side, Vesta Dipping Grill has very specific allergy menus. (I love this restaurant)
Maggianos Italian restaurant has rice pasta and the chef will personally come out to talk to you about your order.
