In Need of Mama Milk In Toronto and Halifax

Hi there!

I am a Canadian living in California and I love to visit this tribal section to feel a little more at home!

I am posting because I am planning a trip for my children and myself to Canada in October. I have a 9 month old baby through adoption that I have had the honor of receiving donated breast milk from many mama's in California. He had huge issues with growth and this stuff has totally hit the spot with him (surprise surprise!)

Anyways, I just discovered my challenge when I was thinking about packing and wondered how on earth I was going to travel with a whole bunch of frozen milk! We will be in Ontario for 2 weeks and traveling to Halifax/PEI in the middle of it. I considered overnighting it to the house we will be staying in Kitchener, but I've heard customs can hold it and I wouldn't want to risk ruining all that milk!

Then I thought I could ask here. If there are any mama's in the GTA or K/W in Ontario or Halifax areas who have surpluses, I would be totally grateful and could pick up from you. If you need milk bags or anything I could send them to you in advance.

I haven't pumped in well over 2 years (though I'm still nursing my 2.5 y/o). I can *try* pumping but I just can't imagine getting much. I can mention this at my next LLL meeting (Sept 8th) and see if I can find some willing mamas :) I'm sure there'll be at least one or two. Some of the mamas there have kiddos about your DS's age so it would be more age appropriate than my toddler milk ;)

How much supply would you expect to need for your trip in NS?

Also, I'm a member of a London, Ontario board and I'd be happy to post there too but would you be able to get there to retrieve it? It's about 45 mins from K/W.
